2007-09-18 Thread Dirk Schramm
confirmed here... did a clean install of gutsy from tribe 5 cd, did all updates
and now the window manager behaves completely messed up. no problems yet with
firefox, but terminal multiple screens wide, so i tried to completely remove
and reinstall it. now i got a "normal" window size, but the input is not
readable, font size seems to be very small and not changeable. font color is
white. tried to add a new profile, same behaviour.
strange behaviour applies to multiple programs, such as the appearance-settings
(which sometimes starts, sometimes crashes without a trace in
/var/log/messages).

sorry for the late answer, i obviosuly missed the question from you,

same for me here. resizing the windows (such as the terminal) makes the
text show up. some menu items are not higlighted, such as in the
administration-menu, whereas the settings menu items are highlighted.
thought i messed with some settings, so i uninstalled beryl, deleted the
settingsfolder of both emerald and beryl, same problem again.

intel graphics, too. does NOT occur with metacity, just with emerald as
the window manager.

[Bug 93655] Re: hda -> sda transition not handled during upgrade

2007-03-21 Thread Dirk Schramm
Time for a friendly "me too". Just tried to access a NTFS-Partition
(yeah, well...erm, it's useful :D) just to notice it's "gone" (yeah, i
fixed the fstab entry manually and, whoops, there it was), so no big
problem, still the update-process should just handle this somehow.

fstab:

[Bug 93906] feisty: no networking/sound et al after upgrading to 2.6.20-12-generic

2007-03-19 Thread Dirk Schramm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-12-generic

after upgrading via update-manager i got no sound/no networking (dhcp
doesn't work, fixed ip delivers a "network unreachable" while pinging,
even though dns-lookups work)), beryl's output on the viewports is
completely white, etc.

[Bug 93152] feisty: system lockups / no startup using ndiswrapper + dlink dwl-g132(rev a.)

2007-03-17 Thread Dirk Schramm
Public bug reported:

goes for both: ndiswrapper via apt and ndiswrapper 1.38 downloaded from
sf.

driver used:
http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DWL%2DG132

as soon as i plug in the wlan-dongle, system freezes, only mouse cursor is
moveable. no possibility to restart, no ctrl+alt+backspace, and so on.
if plugged in while starting, system startup stops and freezes at "BUG: soft
lockup detected on CPU#0"

no chance to reboot except for the power button.

additional info:
