[Bug 1607291] Re: Dual SIM devices show "No SIM" icon in indicators if there is only one SIM installed

2016-10-01 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Not sure what is the exact requirement for carrier certification but in
my opinion showing the SIM Icons for each detected SIM cards is equally
functional as showing the empty icons. That said, the only extra
information that the empty SIM icon is adding is to tell the user that
this phone is actually capable of using more than 1 card.

If the requirement is to always give a hint of the number of SIMs the
phone is capable of, then a possible space-efficient solution would be
to show which SIM is the indicator refering to. This could include the
total number of slots like the page counters in a document: 1/2, 2/2.
This means a user with only the second slot being used will have an
indicator showing 2/2, a user using only the first slot will have 1/2,
and a user with both will have 1/2 in one indicator and 2/2 in the
other. For single SIM support it doesn't harm to show 1/1, but it could
also default to not showing it explicitly.

Just an opinion... because I think showing both indicators all the time
is a misuse of the limited space.

Best Regards,
Felipe.

[Bug 1427264] Re: using ecryptfs, creating frameworks fail to bind mount issues

2016-04-09 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Hi,

I have /home and /home/${USER}/Data on different partitions which are mounted
based on /etc/fstab specs.
When I had automatic updates of my kits in ubuntu sdk, every time it attempted
to update it umounted my two home related partitions. This problem was solved
by de-activating auto update. Instead I update my kits manually with apt-get.

Now I'm trying to create a new kit for amd64 and have the same problem
described here. I'm running 15.04 up-to-date.

So:

1. Please confirm if the current WA would be to do #15 before
attempting to modify kits, then once finished revert the WA to avoid
#20.

2. Any progress on the fix for this showstopper? Any target release?

Thanks a lot!

Re: [Bug 1368647] Re: GPS and location detection not working on Nexus 4

2015-07-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Hi,

I'm running mako with Ubuntu 15.04 20150727 (r22). Same issue with similar
Warning/Error messages in the location-service log files.

I think it used to work in the past with earlier development images (a year
ago or so...)

Is there a known issue without known solution, or just waiting to be
investigated?

Thanks!
Felipe.

[Bug 1411055] [NEW] ubuntu-phone recurring alarm gets disabled after 1st event

2015-01-14 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Public bug reported:

Hi,
This started some weeks before christmass (not sure exact image).

Currently running vivid image #61 on Mako and the issue is still
present.

To reproduce:

1. Create an alarm that has to be set for Week-days (Most probably any
recurring setup should work)

Observed Behavior:

The alarm indicator icon will show up until the first alarm event is reached,
then the alarm indicator disappears and the alarm will no longer be triggered.
If the user tries to re-enable the alarm, it stays enabled for a second, then
gets automatically disabled.
Only way to set the alarm again is to delete it and create a new one that will
also sound only once.

Expected Behavior:

The alarm indicator must persist until the alarm is manually disabled by
the user or no more events are programmed to occur.

Let me know if more information is needed.

Thanks,
Felipe.

Ok. I disconnected my android device, then rebooted my ubuntu system and

So... there was something related to the android connection, but seems

Hi,

I'm running raring amd64 up to date, and the issue started a couple od
days ago. I can add that I think the issue started after I enabled
GoogleTalk app in an android device. So, seems to be related to app
connection from a different computer. I still have to do some testing to
reproduce the normal behavior when the android device is not online.

Hope this helps.

Hey! This is not invalid.

The solution suggested is just a workaround.

I have the latest version of Tomboy running on Windows 7 with multiple
monitors, and the issue is there.

Tomboy should be to realize the saved coordinates are out of the current
viewport and assign a new default position for the window when. Keeping
the window out of display can't be accepted as a default behavior.

[Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

2009-03-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Ok, sorry I'm late.
Yesterday updated to jaunty AMD64, keeping my /home directory, so the user
configuration is still the same, same plugins, and so on. Messed up my
xorg.conf to force the low graphics mode and the menu showed up. Now all the
options involving text editing worked without problem. But my xorg.conf was
empty when I opened it, so had to reconfigure it in a different way.(not even a
backup).
When I selected the option to go to a console, it didn't work, not even to
switch manually with CTRL+ALT+F1, had to reset the computer but I think this
is another story.

So I think it's indirectly solved in jaunty.

Re: [Bug 289997] Re: dpkg: error processing util-linux (--configure): Package is in a very bad inconsistent state

2009-02-27 Thread Felipe De la Puente
It's so weird... I think this is an error too, but in another bug report the
guys didn't agree with me.

I insist that as a way to get out of any of these problems, you go to the
/var/lib/dpkg/info/ folder and edit the PACKAGE.postinst script (which is a
text file with commands written inside) and commend(preppend a#character)
all the install-info commands. Because the problem originates with a wrong
install-info command(wrong because of a missing argument).

You can also try to use my util-linux.postinst script, I've seen that the
file has been updated and it doesn't have the comments I made when I had the
problem. my current version is 2.14-1ubuntu2 running Ubuntu 8.10 amd64, but
I think the postinst is the same for i386. I have attached my postinst file,
hope this helps you.

Greetings, Felipe.

[Bug 289997] Re: dpkg: error processing util-linux (--configure): Package is in a very bad inconsistent state

2009-02-25 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Hey, it happens to me sometimes, and I think is something wrong in the
configuration of my system, as I have been using my /home directory
since a lot of old and pre-release versions of Ubuntu.

Looking the error message, you can see that the program "install-info"
lacks an argument saying the directory where the info files must be
installed, or something like that. This program is executed from the
postinst script of the package the moment you installed or upgraded it.

So what I'm doing as a workaround is to go to the directory:
/var/lib/dpkg/info/ and open the PACKAGE.postinst script file with a
text editor in order to fix or rather comment the lines containing the
wrong install-info command. They are generally a few lines.

After doing that, you will be able to use the package managment system
as usual to finish the instalation and install any other packages until
you find another conflicting postinst script.

Hope this helps you.

PS: (PACKAGE means the package of interest, as in this folder are all
the postinst scripts of your installed packages)

Re: [Bug 288755] Re: package flex-old 2.5.4a-7build1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2008-11-01 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Hey, got the problem. I have installed lots of packages today, and 4 of them
regarding texlive had the same error as flex-old, all of them were
documentation packages.

The problem is triggered when dpkg calls install-info in the following
way(just an example file of another package):

install-info --quiet /usr/share/info/eplain.info

then install-info throws an error saying:

install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.

That's all, it's always the same error, so as a workaround for me I've
commented this command in the postinst scripts wich showed the problem.

Why could be happening this just to me?

Greetings, Felipe.

anyway, can't uninstall it with dpkg.

[Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

2008-09-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Ok, sorry for my lately answer, I forgot to test it.

The procedure was the following:

- Changed my driver in xorg.conf from "nvidia" to "nvidi"
- Restarted X(CTRL+ALT+Backspace)
- The "Running on Low Graphics Mode message appeared with two options"
- I choose "Troubleshoot the problem"
- Then, in the new options set I choose: "review the xserver log file"
- Nothing happened, then I choose edit the config file, nothing happened, and
so on.
- After that I tried to switch to Console 1 to correct my xorg.conf, but
surprise! now i can't do that, may be because of a driver issue... so restarted
in recovery mode and edited my xorg.conf.
- Now I'm again in gnome, and a new crash report showed saying gedit crashed in
the past, BINGO!

That's all, I have the new report, don't know if you need it.

Greetings, Felipe.

[Bug 141613] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV

2008-09-22 Thread Felipe De la Puente
In my box, the flash widgets aren't working at all, just grey zones. But
I've found that when I update the flash plugin with nspluginwrapper
while firefox is closed:

nspluginwrapper -u /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-alternative.so

after doing that, I got firefox+flash working, it seems there is
something with nspluginwrapper update in my case. BTW I have
nspluginwrapper 1.1.0, Intrepid AMD64, up-to-date.

I think it's something with this Recovery Menu(New feature?), rather than
just gedit, because, after gnome started, there were no problems at all with
gedit. I will come back to my machine this weekend, and will try to recreate

Re: [Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

2008-09-16 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Well, as I said, I think the crash was during a "Failsafe Gnome Session".
When the session started, The system offered some "recovery options" for me,
and I choose something like "See X Server Errors Log". I think this option
tried to open the error log with gedit, and it crashed, because after a
while I didn't see any error log, and switched to console 1 to restart
gnome. After I've restarted Gnome, the same options appeared, and the same
happened, switched again... and finnaly I decided to start gnome wihout
seeing any log file. Then, just after gnome started, I've seen the crash
report of gedit.

So... in few words, start gnome in failsafe mode(set a wrong/broken graphics
driver in xorg.conf...), and try to see the X Server error log from the
menu, and see what happens.

Hope this helps, I'm not in my machine on theese days...

Greetings, Felipe.

I just want to add, that when you try to shutdown the computer through
your gnome's personal desktop options(both of them) it doesn't work, one
must instead logout, and then shutdown from the main gnome-login screen.
Obviously there are no problems if you shutdown by commands.

[Bug 212855] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast()

2008-04-08 Thread Felipe De la Puente
I have that issue every time i start firefox, since i have several tabs
using flash to be remembered by firefox. It started with Firefox 3 beta
5 after the April 07 update in hardy. Anyway, npviewer.bin is using too
many resources and looks quite unstable with firefox 3 @ AMD64. My
processor is rarely quiet.
