[Bug 811745] Re: Whole system freeze after safely remove external usb drive
I would like to add to this bug report that the issue is not only about not being able to unmount drives, the usb issue is more deep. With the latest kernel transfer of large files ( 20Gb) will just crash on my computer leaving the usb in an unknown and unusable state (lsusb command will hang) with no messages in the log files. [Bug 619875] [NEW] WhisList : field to set the battery threshold for auto-shutdown
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager This report belongs to wish list category. The idea would be to have a field in the gnome-power-manager applet menu to set the battery threshold (in %, time or both). This can useful as the battery remaining time calculated can be sometimes a bit different from the reality and one could appreciate to set a higher/lower threshold easily. To make it clear this field would configure the apps/gnome-power- manager/thresholds entry of gconf and maybe also the use_time_for_policy parameter in apps/gnome-power-manager/general to choose % or time to set the threshold. [Bug 238788] [NEW] Still poor IDE performance, bug exist since feisty
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.24 Hello, I think it's time to put this on the table again as this annoyance exist since feisty and nothing as moved on this. Hope this can a day get the attention it deserves. Since old IDE drivers has been dumped we are many to issues slow transfer rates with IDE drives and this despite the fact that hdparm -tT reports really correct values. On my desktop computer the problem appear like that : - hdparm -Tt reports Timing buffered disk reads : 76Mb/s which is really good. - If i plug an external usb drive i can transfer at 30Mb/s which is good too and the same as in windows. - If i move a bunch of videos from one internal IDE drive to the other internal IDE drive i get a transfer rate of 8Mb/s and this happen every time i do such transfer and only when i do such transfer. There's definitely something wrong in the new driver which create slow transfer in some cases. I truly hope someone will have a serious look at this, after more than a year without any move on this i'm a bit desperate and scared than no one care about it. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Still poor IDE performance, bug exist since feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 157780] Re: gnome-session-save scew up session file
Ok here some more informations. I discovered some strange behaviour about gnome-session-save. YOu can see in the gutsy generated session file that xfwm4 is set as default manager with no reason. However for an odd reason the desktop gnome application window_manager current Gcong key was set to /usr/bin/xfwm4 which could explain the error. Please try to reproduce this on your computer, set the desktop gnome application window_manager current Gconf key to something else than your current WM and check that gnome-session-save will take in consideration your Gconf key and not your current WM. I can reproduce this as much as i want, if i use gnome-session-save command it brokes the session file each time. ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-session-save scew up session file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157780 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 70889] Re: The video controls (contrast, Brightness, ... ) don't work
Hi Lionel, I bought a webcam which handle the contrast adjustment by hardware so this is not a problem for me anymore. I think we can just drop this item, most of webcams have embedded contrast adjustment nowadays. [Bug 113532] Re: kernel 2.6.20 disk write performance much slower than 2.6.17
It seems that the problem may be related to the fact that the IDE drives are now handled by the SATA drivers and thus in some cases hdparm can't set options correctly on some drives. As i said i have 2 IDE drives in my computer one issue slow down the other not so feel free to ask me any output that would help you to find what is the configuration option which make the second hard drives to work slowly. For the record some have noticed also this slow down on suse with the kernel 2.6.20 so there's really something with the way the 2.6.20 kernel is handling IDE drives. Hope this can be improved and a workaround released. -- kernel 2.6.20 disk write performance much slower than 2.6.17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113532 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 124486] The gnunet version in the repository is outdated
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnunet The gnunet version in the repository is 0.7.0e in feisty and 0.7.1c in gutsy and these are really old versions and the guys on #gnunet barely offer support for these version because many bugs have been fixed and things improved now in the 0.7.2 So the version of gnunet in the repository is pretty much useless and will surely slow the growth of this wonderful project within ubuntu because of the difficulty to make this version working properly. The actual version is 0.7.2 and the 0.7.3 is going to be realease next month (august) so i think it is really time to fix this gap. Hope this don't require too much job. Thanks. PS: if a new package is made for gutsy i would like to request as well a backport package for feisty. ** Affects: gnunet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- The gnunet version in the repository is outdated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124486 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 68735] Re: Module mod-tls.c is missing in the proftpd edgy package
You're completely right, the module mod_tls is compiled as a DSO module only in the edgy and backport dapper package. Thus all you need to use the module is to add this line in your proftpd.conf file : LoadModule mod_tls.c The issue is now solved and this is definately not a bug, thank you all for your useful comments ** Changed in: proftpd (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: proftpd = proftpd-dfsg Status: Confirmed = Rejected -- Module mod-tls.c is missing in the proftpd edgy package https://launchpad.net/bugs/68735 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 70889] Re: The video controls (contrast, Brightness, ... ) don't work
After some readings and after finding other users with the same problem it seems to be related to the spca5xx drivers which badly support the Philips SPC 600 NC webcam. According to the thread below the spca5xx driver don't support the automatic setting of the contrast and brightness which leave the image dark and the webcam unusable under linux. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga I've tried this on both dapper and edgy with a labtec webcam and a Philips SPC 600 NC. [Bug 68735] Module mod-tls.c is missing in the proftpd edgy package
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: proftpd The proftpd package provided in edgy (v. 1.3.0) isn't compiled with the mod_tls.c module enabled. This could be a big issue for those who run edgy eft and need TLS encryption for their ftp server because without this encryption passwords and usernames are transmited in plain text. Since this module was enabled in dapper some users may not have noticed that this module is no more enabled and thus make their FTP server vulnerable. Here is the list of the modules enabled in the edgy package : mod_core.c mod_xfer.c mod_auth_unix.c mod_auth_file.c mod_auth.c mod_ls.c mod_log.c mod_site.c mod_delay.c mod_dso.c mod_auth_pam.c mod_readme.c mod_cap.c mod_ctrls.c It may be a good idea to make this module enabled in the package provided by the official edgy repository because for a professional server install it doesn't make sense to run a FTP server without encryption. ** Affects: proftpd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Module mod-tls.c is missing in the proftpd edgy package https://launchpad.net/bugs/68735 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
