[Bug 223609] [NEW] Upgrade Cheese to 2.23.1
Public bug reported: 1. Hardy 8.04 x64 Final 2. Cheese 2.22.1-0ubuntu1 3. Ability to capture videos--stable performance 4. This version of Cheese is a regression in terms of performance and stability compared to the Gutsy package. On both an MSI PR200/1221/Daru2 and an HP Pavilion dv2000z, the video lags when dragging the program box. Then, the program fails to record properly (i.e. freezing and not saving the video). There are numerous bug reports already posted. Since 2.23.1 was released on 21 Apr, please consider packaging it for Hardy 8.04.1. I hope this will fix some of these problems. This program is so cool with a great deal of potential. Thanks. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Upgrade Cheese to 2.23.1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223609 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 219508] Re: Upgrade Cheese to 2.22.1 in repository
Thanks. However, the latest package doesn't seem to have fixed any of my problems with either of my onboard laptop webcams. I have a Microdia cam on an MSI PR200 and a Sonix cam on an HP dv2000z. Both programs start up Cheese properly, but the video tears when dragging windows on the PR200 (Intel X3100 chipset with desktop effects enabled). Video can't be recorded. On the HP laptop, video doesn't lag when dragging the window (Nvidia 6150SE graphics), but no video can be recorded. [Bug 44626] Re: Can't Input Japanese Text
I want to install Ubuntu in Japanese for my in-laws, so I messed around with putting SCIM support on my English laptop to get a feel for it. Obviously, there's a global settings compatibility problem. If I install their entire system in Japanese, then I shouldn't have this problem. [Bug 46308] Re: edubuntu mouse pointer bad displayed
I changed the color depth to 16bit in the xorg.conf file and rebooted. This did not solve the problem. For a feature request, I previously submitted an idea that the hardware detection process use the information from the graphics card to determine what compositing/rendering capabilities are possible. 16bit depth and slow DRI are the only options for this ATI Rage Mobility P/M chip (from what I've discovered). -- edubuntu mouse pointer bad displayed https://launchpad.net/bugs/46308 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 46308] Re: edubuntu mouse pointer bad displayed
I remember this bug from Dapper Drake...thought it was fixed. Anyway, it still exists in Edgy Eft. I'm attaching a screen shot from Linux Mint Bea, which uses Ubuntu 6.10 as a code base. My laptop is a Fujitsu FMV-Biblo LOOX. The tearing only occurs when I move the nipple pointer up and to the left. ** Attachment added: Pointer Tearing http://librarian.launchpad.net/6727953/C%3A%5CDocuments%20and%20Settings%5Crobert.hoffler%5CDesktop%5COptimized%20pointertearing.ppt -- edubuntu mouse pointer bad displayed https://launchpad.net/bugs/46308 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 34590] Re: DRI not Automatically Enabled for ATI Rage Mobility P/M - Mach64
Edgy neither checks for video ram limits nor DRI combinations. The default color depth is still 24 bits, so I must manually change it to 16. Also, I've heard that enabling DRI for the mach64 based ATI chips doesn't work in Edgy. I will try to enable DRI tonight using the above procedures and report back. -- DRI not Automatically Enabled for ATI Rage Mobility P/M - Mach64 https://launchpad.net/bugs/34590 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 25673] Re: Keyboard and touchpad doesn't work after suspend-to-ram on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M1420
After suspending my Fujitsu LOOX subnotebook, the integrated stick-type (nipple) pointing device does not re-initialize. However, after plugging in a USB mouse, it functions again. I've been having this same problem since Breezy. I am using Edgy Knot 3. Any fix anticipated? [Bug 12637] Re: [Bug 12637] Re: LCD Brightness on Laptop Always Set Very Low at Boot
Thanks. I sold the Gateway 7405GX laptop with that issue. Overall, it was a low-quality piece of junk. [Bug 12693] Re: [Bug 12693] Re: Mute Button Shortcut sometimes doesn't restore sound when unmuted
Hello. From what I remember about using Dapper on this laptop, this bug report can be closed. (I sold this low quality Gateway 7405GX laptop.)
