[Bug 2064017] Re: Xserver Display flickers when mouse pointer is inside narrow horizontal range band (kernel related)

2024-04-29 Thread GLAUCO RIZZO
Hello Daniel,
I tried passing that kernel parameter to grub, but it did not help:

This is the echo of my kernel command line passed to grub from bash
terminal:

more /proc/cmdline

BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.8.0-31-generic
root=UUID=c323b5e4-1a45-4ce4-9f8d-c4f7f9c60388 ro quiet splash
i915.enable_psr=0 vt.handoff=7

Let me know if you have any other suggestions to try.
Thank you for your support

[Bug 2064017] [NEW] Xserver Display flickers when mouse pointer is inside narrow horizontal range band (kernel related)

2024-04-28 Thread GLAUCO RIZZO
Public bug reported:

My machine information is following :
HP EliteBook 840 G3
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520]
xrandr -q active mode on laptop display : 1368x768 60.01

Tried using 6.8.8-060808 kernel (instead of the lubuntu 24.04 default shipped
kernel 6.8.0-31), same issue.
Rolling back the kernel to 6.7 fixed the problem, maybe there were some video
driver changes from kernel 6.7 to 6.8 ?

While using the 6.8 kernel I did some experiments:

disabled picom in startup , no effect

Tried changing display resolution, just moves vertical position of band.
(at the above resolution 1368x768 vertical mouse pointer flicker range is
around 640 ( measured running watch -t -n 0.0001 xdotool getmouselocation from
a bash terminal)

Tried moving refresh rate slightly around 60 Hz by creating a new
modeline using cvt tool and adding new mode with xrandr, no effect.

tried connecting external display on laptop VGA port and duplicating
screen and the issue seems to disappear.

tried capturing a video of the desktop using ffmpeg with x11grab, but
it does not show the issue.

I attached a short video of the laptop display flicker I recorded using
my phone

[Bug 1884691] [NEW] Power button don’t work

2020-06-22 Thread Glauco Neto
Public bug reported:

The power button hasn’t worked for a while (it was supposed to turn off,
but it doesn’t respond and nothing appears). I already tried it through
dconf but it didn’t work and also the power settings, the power button
is already set to turn off.

Note: when it is set to suspend it suspends and when it is set to do
nothing, nothing happens (of course)

responding when I press the shutdown button on my notebook, even though
in the power management in the settings it is to shut down when I press
it. When I put it to suspend, he responds, but when I put it off he does

[Bug 622494] Re: USB drive is randomly unmounted: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd

2012-11-19 Thread Glauco
This is a very annoying bug. This entry is from 2010, but I'm with
Ubuntu since 2005 and it has been around forever. All my usb sticks or
drives just works with every non linux OS and that's the main annoyance.
I hope it will get fixed one day, seems like a really hard bug to beat.
Count me in to provide any info developers needs, as always.

[Bug 741603] Re: Window buttons disappear on maximized windows by changing focus to another maximised window on multi-monitor setups

2011-09-19 Thread Glauco
You don't have to maximize two windows on separate displays. Just
maximize one, and let the other window with focus. You must click on the
maximized window do bring focus back and only then you can
minimize/restore/close it.

I can't boot my desktop with Oneiric live media. Prior versions like

with a USB stick, re-downloaded the ISO a couple of times and the
chekcsum was right.

Here's the output:

[Bug 756280] Re: Files lense should ignore hidden files

2011-05-25 Thread Glauco
That's the point of recent files, but I don't think it applies to hidden
ones. Not the way Unity bring the results, merging with all kind of
stuff. What's the point to hide something if Unity show them by typing
just one letter? Sorry, I don't want to flame, but simply can't agree
with you.

I do. You open Nautilus, hidden files and folders still hidden. You call
ls in terminal, hidden files and folders still hidden. Why Unity should
bring hidden files and folders by default?

[Bug 735393] Re: GNOME bars theme lost

Yesterday I restored some of my old folders from Maverick (10.10) and ~/.compiz

fixes the issue.
Here's the clue from dmesg wich make me to believe that compiz was guilty:

[Bug 758430] [NEW] USB storage device slow with reset and I/O error

2011-04-11 Thread Glauco
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.38

USB storage devices will start at a 20MB/s transfer and after a few
seconds (250MB ~ 300MB), it will slow down to under 1MB/s.

Steps to reproduce:
Insert any USB Hard Drive or Stick to a computer running Ubuntu Natty Narwhal
and start to copy a file, bigger than 500MB, from computer to USB storage
device. After a few seconds at USB 2.0 speed, it will slow down to USB 1.0/1.1
speed.

Dmesg output will report several ehci_hcd resets, followed by several
I/O errors. After a couple of minutes, a loop with ehci_hcd resets and
I/O error messages returns to dmesg output and the remaining data will
be writen at less then 500KB/s, eventually aborting the process with a
fatal error.

Tested it a dozen times, with 2 500GB Hard Drives on 5 different USB cables and
with 2 8GB USB Sticks.
All cables are working flawlessly and all storage devices were formatted with
no error or bad blocks.

[Bug 596722] [NEW] Adobe AIR uses a diferent keyboard than system default

2010-06-20 Thread Glauco
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adobeair

Since the upgrade of adobeair package to version 2 and their later minor
releases, all applications based on Adobe AIR are reading another keyboard
configuration, instead of system default.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with a Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard and I think Adobe AIR

I confirm this bug in Intrepid. I'm using a nVidia 6600 card with 177

Shadows are OK for windows with width lower than 940 pixels with 15 Shadow
Radius, 800 pixels with 18 Shadow Radius and less pixels as you rise the Shadow
Radius. If you use the Reflections plugin from Compiz and Radius high enough to
be seen, the issue is way more visible as you resize the window.
The theme I'm using is Azurite Studio, but is reproducible in every emerald
theme with shadows.

proprietary driver from repositories or the one from nvidia's website didn't
affect anything, everything is working fine.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the support.

[Bug 12893] Re: Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices

2008-09-20 Thread Glauco
I agree with this bug's title, removable devices shouldn't have a .trash
folder on it. At least I must to have an option to choose if the folder
will be created or not.

I faced this issue with mesa because Stellarium doesn't work. Both my notebook

I'm trying to solve the mesa bug in notebook with this script, GM965 video card.

Thanks, Alberto. I will try the workaround.
Just for info, in newer Ubuntu versions the nvidia package provided by official
repositories works as supposed to be and that package is enough for me, with 3D
and good performance. Tested in 3 different computers this week, when upgrading
from Gutsy to Hardy.
Thanks again.

[Bug 114965] Logoff the first logged user causes Authentication failed on second logged user

2007-05-15 Thread Glauco
Public bug reported:

Every time I logoff the first logged user in my Feisty Fawn, the second logged
users have an Authentication failed message.
With these steps I can reproduce the error every time I try:

1. Login with the user One
2. Click on Switch User
3. Login with the user Two
4. Click on Switch User
5. Login with the user One
6. Logoff the user One
7. Login with the user Two
8. The session is restored as supposed to be, but the logon screen sound is in
the background in a forever loop, playing again and again
9. Logoff the user Two
10. Logon screen is shown with user Two as logged in and the message
Authentication failed
11. Login with the user Two brings up an empty session and the logon screen
sound loop stops.

Sorry if the bug title is not the best, change it if needed.

I'm running a clean install of Feisty Fawn, with only my /home/ folder
restored from Edgy.
