[Bug 1452830] Re: Keyboard and mouse not working after update to 15.04
Uninstalling laptop-mode tools seems to have fixed the problem, so I am changing the package affected ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => laptop-mode-tools (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452830 Title: Keyboard and mouse not working after update to 15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/laptop-mode-tools/+bug/1452830/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1452830] Re: Keyboard and mouse not working after update to 15.04
Hi, I haven't used Ubu for some time and now I am back and it seems I was wrong in that the bug was fixed. It just started showing up less for some time. I dug into the problem and it seems that USB ports are being suspended. I found that laptop-mode tools do this when one is on battery, but it happened to me when I has AC connected (sometimes, and sometimes not). Uninstalling laptop-mode tools seems to have fixed the problem. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452830 Title: Keyboard and mouse not working after update to 15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/laptop-mode-tools/+bug/1452830/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug was fixed by some of the recent updates. Now my mouse and keyboard both work fine. I saw linux firmware package being updated - maybe this is what fixed it? [Bug 1309773] [NEW] Nameless error when switching to NVidia graphics card from Nvidia settings using PRIME profiles on Lenovo IdeaPad y580
Public bug reported: Hello, Y580 is an optimus laptop. I have installed nvidia prime and are using binary driver 331.38. I open NVidia settings and choose to switch from Intel card to NVidia one. When I do so (and enter my password), I get an empty error message box and the display gets back to Intel card. [Bug 1264114] Re: Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver

[Bug 1264114] Re: Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver
I just looked at the screenshot I attached and it looks like the font on the screenshot is alright. The screen is only what suffers. Anyway, some new info: 1. the font looks bad always when I enable vesa driver, even from live cd 2. 13.10 boots into failsafe X on my machine, but 14.04 alpha boots OK, so I replaced my system with 14.04 alpha. Anyway, it might still be annoying for 13.10 users -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264114 Title: Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1264114/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1264114] [NEW] Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver
Public bug reported: Hi, After upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 my PC stopped booting into the login screen, but instead showed that failsafe X has to be used because my video driver could not be detected. As I checked later, the 13.10 live CD was giving me the same symptom right from the start. I managed to work around it by adding the following to xorg configuration: Section "Device" Identifier"Configured Video Device" Driver"vesa" EndSection and it started booting, but now shows corrupted font as seen in the attached image. The graphics card is not top-notch, but it worked in the 13.04 release (albeit only in gnome mode with no effects) and the font was rendered correctly. [Bug 1179181] Re: Ubuntu turns display off while booting on Lenovo y580
** Project changed: nux => ubuntu ** Description changed: - Hi, I purchased y680 in the following configuration recently (sorry for + Hi, I purchased y580 in the following configuration recently (sorry for Polish language, but I couldn't find the exact same configuration anywhere else): http://www.euro.com.pl/laptopy-i-netbooki/lenovo-ideapad-y580-i7-3630 -4gb-1tb-gtx660-2gb-w8.bhtml#opis and tried to boot Ubuntu 13.04 using live USB. The effect was (despite trying with EFI boot and legacy option) the OS to turn off the display just after the GRUB screen. I didn't give up and my next try was to check with Ubuntu 12.10 - and the live USB booted. After installing 12.10 I proceeded to upgrade to 13.04 (the only thing I did inbetween was install all updates to the default installation of 12.10) and after the upgrade, Ubuntu was once again turning off the display after grub screen. While investigating what's wrong, I tried to boot with 3.5 kernel that was left from my 12.10 installation and it worked, so I guess this has something to do with 3.8 kernel (maybe 3.8 tries to use my Nvidia card, since 3.5 kernel does not use it at all?). Just to try if things have not improved in 3.9 kernel, I installed it from the packages in Ubuntu Saucy archives. The result was still turned off display. So to sum up, I must currently use 13.04 with 3.5 kernel and if not going through Ubuntu 12.10 upgrade, I would not be able to install Ubuntu on my machine at all... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179181 Title: Ubuntu turns display off while booting on Lenovo y580 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1179181/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1087534] Re: [regression] Corrupted blurred overlays

Temporary workaround to get acceptable experience while being affected by this bug (assuming default wallpaper is set. Most of this has already been written here except for bullet 5): 1. install ccsm tool: sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager 2. run ccsm tool: ccsm 3. Search for unity and select it from central panel 4. Switch Dash Blur option to "No Blur" 5. in Background Color panel, set Color Name to #591718 and Opacity to 248 (you may adjust these values to your liking, especially the color name if your use a different wallpaper) 6. [Bug 271986] Re: [intrepid] screen brightness resets to 100% on reboot
Rocko, I've reinvestigated the case. Seems like I mistakenly reset the computer without setting manually brightness down before the reboot (I made a reboot twice) and I though that the brightness reset was done at the GRUB stage, while in reality it was reset during previous boot. Seems like, the first appearance of Ubuntu logo and boot progress bar seems to reset the brightness for the first time. When I turn it down, it gets reset again at logon screen.
