[Bug 1830445] [NEW] package python3.6 3.6.8-1~18.10 failed to install/upgrade: installed python3.6 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127
Public bug reported: This is after a reinstall of python 3.6. The reason this was reinstalled is trying to fix an upgrade error with do-release-upgrade (or with the gui) resulting in a python3 symlink corrupted error. This is with default python 3.6 of ubuntu 18.10. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 18.10 Release:18.10 $ apt-cache policy python3.6 python3.6: Installed: 3.6.8-1~18.10 Candidate: 3.6.8-1~18.10 Version table: *** 3.6.8-1~18.10 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu cosmic-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.6.7~rc1-1 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu cosmic/main amd64 Packages This happened without any intervention from me - just a random error and report request. However, this is the result of what is described above and in more details: 1. Attempted to upgrade to 19.04 via software centre and cmd line, always with this error: Reading cache Checking package manager Cannot upgrade Your python3 install is corrupted. Please fix the '/usr/bin/python3' symlink. Note that python3 is the default 3.6, it was never changed. Symlink was fine. Followed good and bad advice. Last one was the first comment here; https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=649 The result was a messed up python symlink, which overwrote the binary. Removed, reinstalled and this error just popped up. Technically so far things work though but i still cannot upgrade. Same problem here. Lenovo Carbon X1 3rd Gen. After upgrading to 15.10 from 15.04, the laptop doesn't complete the boot process and crashes with the i915 message (The master control interrupt lied SDE). I cannot even provide any dmesg output because I can't get any prompt. [Bug 300693] Re: Thinkpad T61p hardlock flashing caps lock
I'm using a Thinkpad T61p. I have never had this problem, but since installing lynx 10.04 I crash daily (multiple times). 95% of the times its when i'm not looking and I'll come back to a blinking caps lock and frozen system. Until I ran into this thread I thought this is Chrome related, since Chrome is always open when this happens. Furthermore, if I turn on synchronization in chrome to sync bookmarks etc., I'll get the crash within seconds to chrome starting - always. If I turn sync off, its sporadic and unpredictable. I've been on Ubuntu since 5.04 without a problem and this one is just doing my head in... [Bug 387620] Re: [karmic] laptop overheats and shuts off -- fans at low speed
I see a similar problem on my Thinkpad T61p. It keeps shutting down due to extreme heat. However, come to think about it - I don't hear the fan kicking in recently. All this started since I upgraded to 9.10. [Bug 314688] Re: "Critical Trip Point" - Auto Shutdown
I have this problem since upgrading to 9.10 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p. I did not have this problem on any other release prior to that. I'm experiencing sudden shutdowns and reboots. Sometimes after such a shutdown i have to take out the power cable AND battery for a few seconds in order for the laptop to start up again. This was never an issue in 5 years I've been using ubuntu. As well, although the syslog reports as pasted below, this happens when there's no real load, and the laptop doesn't feel as if its any hotter than usual. [Bug 217653] Re: Wireless connection to WPA Enterprise network fails using Intel iwl3945 driver.
By now I've found that if I get the latest madwifi from its subversion repository, compile it and then compile wpa_supplicant agains that, it all works fine. However I must do that for each new kernel upgrade. I will post my syslog on the first kernel upgrade when my wifi stops working (before i do the recompiles). [Bug 217653] Re: Wireless connection to WPA Enterprise network fails using Intel iwl3945 driver.
I have the same problem on a brand new Thinkpad T61p, using an Atheros chipset wifi card, on a clean install of 8.04. Same machine connects fine on XP, and my other toshiba laptop which runs Gutsy works great. When I try to select my home network from network manager, it asks for wpa key, and the icon then starts to spin until times out. Syslog messages seem all fine until the end where it just times out. lshw shows the card to be AR5212 802.11abg NIC Atheros Communications Inc. I'm now considering a downgrade to gutsy as everything works fine there. -- Wireless connection to WPA Enterprise network fails using Intel iwl3945 driver. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217653 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
