[Bug 2069495] Re: Netplan generator causes systemd, apt and unlock hangs on 24.04
I tried to investigate the problem with long boot for several days. Even tried to reinstall system. Only after enabling debug logs in systemd I found out that it was `/usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/netplan`. systemd-analyze told it was NetworkManager. So I removed link `/usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/netplan` and my boot time reduced for almost 2mins. There was nothing interesting in `/etc/netplan/01-network-manager-all.yaml` (with 0400 access rights, that was strange): ``` network: version: 2 renderer: NetworkManager ``` -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2069495 Title: Netplan generator causes systemd, apt and unlock hangs on 24.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netplan.io/+bug/2069495/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2063511] [NEW] Ubuntu 24.04 can't run HoMM3 HotA (Wine 9.0)
Public bug reported: ~/Games/Homm3HotA% wine HD_Launcher 0128:err:module:loader_init "_hd3_.dll" failed to initialize, aborting 0128:err:module:loader_init Initializing dlls for L"Z:\\home\\ilyak\\Games\\Homm3HotA\\h3hota HD.exe" failed, status c005 % wine --version wine-9.0 (Ubuntu 9.0~repack-4build3) That's the gist of it. Launcher runs but game won't play with the error above. Non-HD h3hota.exe will also GPF immediately. What's surprising that every other Wine version that I've tried (via playonlinux) will of course run HotA just fine (it's an old, mature project) and previous Ubuntu 23.10 also ran HotA just fine. % ~/.PlayOnLinux/wine/linux-x86/9.0/bin/wine HD_Launcher # Runs fine Perhaps I don't have winemono installed (that's the first thing playonlinux does), but it was working before the dist-upgrade and there is no apparent way to install it. Maybe there is any other kind of wine misconfiguration, but provided that I've just done a dist upgrade from 23.10, and it was running fine there, I consider that a regression. [Bug 1972983] Re: File dialog in snap firefox does not have keyboard focus
I've observed a similar issue, since the Ubuntu 22.04 upgrade. Though, I can not confirm 100% that the issue happened exactly on the updated date. It might have been caused by one of the Firefox upgrades. I am currently on version 100. For me, the focus in the save dialog constantly switches to the file list area. It makes it almost impossible to type the file name. When I type one character, this character is inserted into the file name edit field. But then the focus changes to the file list area. [Bug 1841826] Re: Going to sleep instead of logging in while lid closed & external display
The problem is that laptop go to suspend during boot because lid is closed. The behavior is actually highly depends on the hardware you use. I would reapply the gcc patch. It should not affect most userspace binaries - for example, it did not produce any changes whatsoever in SPEC suite. A quick update: zfs.ko gets quite a lot of relocations with the gcc patch, and the total size of PLT entries generated by kernel's apply_rela() exceeds 64k. Each PLT entry contains a short jump to an expoline thunk located at the end of the PLT array, which is out of range for the first PLT entries. I don't seem to be able to reproduce this. What I tried so far: 1. Installed a clean VM using an image from http://ftp.uni- kl.de/pub/linux/ubuntu-dvd/ubuntu-server/daily-live/pending/, ran apt install zfs-dkms - zfs.ko initialization successful. 2. Built zfs master myself and loaded the modules manually - zfs.ko initialization is successful. 3. Installed v5.15 kernel from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v5.15/ and ran apt install zfs-dkms - zfs.ko initialization successful. 4. Built zfs master myself again (for v5.15 this time) and loaded the modules manually - zfs.ko initialization is successful. Am I missing something? One thing is that zfs.ko from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~arighi/zfs/ has vermagic=5.15.0-15-generic, whereas mine has vermagic=5.15.0-051500-generic. Is there another v5.15 kernel build that I can try? [Bug 1758512] Re: No virtual terminals (CTRL+ALT+F?) when no user logged in; erratic behaviour when user logged in.
I can reproduce it but only in: * GNOME Shell 3.36.4 * KDE Plasma Shell 5.18.5 But in XFCE, LXDE, LXQT, MATE and others ++ works fine for me. At first, I've tried to use `sudo chvt 2` for switching form KDE on tty1 to Raw Console on tty2. After switching to tty2 ++ works as in early days. It doesn't depends on video drivers or kernel flags and etc. For my laptop I've got the same for nvidia:455.38 and for i915, with modeset and with nomodset, with GFX grub mode and without. But I guess, this is not a system or hardware problem, because there are no any troubles with small environments. So after some research I found, that you can use `sudo kbd_mode`. So for me `sudo kbd_mode -af` works fine without reboot. * Laptop: DellXps 15 9570 4K Touch * Operating System: Kubuntu 20.04 * Kernel Version: 5.8.0-7630-generic #32~1605108853~20.04~8bcf10e~dev-Ubuntu (from system76) * OS Type: 64-bit * Processors: 12 × Intel® Core™ i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz * Memory: 15,4 Gib Unfortunately I cannot find `DontVTSwitch` option in xorg.conf-like all-over the system, as was said for example here: * https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/34158/rebinding-disabling-ctrlaltf-virtual-terminal-console-switching I think it'll be better solution. [Bug 1877185] Re: maxima-emacs returns LaTeX error
I have resolve the bug, but testing and releasing is necessary. In a nutshell, the issue is caused by a clash of macro definitions between `breqn` and `amsmath`. According to http://mirror.physik-pool.tu- berlin.de/pub/CTAN/macros/latex/contrib/breqn/breqn.pdf, Sec. 2 (package loading), a certain order of loading packages in a document's preamble is necessary: ``` The breqn package automatically loads amsmath to avoid loading order conflicts. It also automatically loads flexisym and mathstyle, but in some cases these packages need to be loaded separately. The canonical order for package loading is: 3\usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{flexisym} \usepackage{breqn} ``` That is, LaTeX template inside `imaxima.el` must be updated; patch is attached. A caveat though: there are TWO places where LaTeX template is defined (see the patch), the bug is fixed by the second; I have introduced the changes in the first part, but it must be tested. ** Patch added: "latex_breqn_fix.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maxima/+bug/1877185/+attachment/5428184/+files/latex_breqn_fix.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877185 Title: maxima-emacs returns LaTeX error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maxima/+bug/1877185/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1792934] Re: symlink loop detected in path 'usr/share/doc/module-init-tools/changelog.Debian.gz'
I inspected perl code in /usr/bin/debsums... The logic around catchink symlink loop is a bit flawed. Its in a function resolve_path() and it is only called from method .check() which intends to verify if the file can be opened. Since its goal is to find any bad files, symlink loop should be reported as any other file open errors, and the tool should not die, even if there is a legitimate symlink loop. So I changed perl code - instead of 'die ...' -> 'return "";', and after 'my $resolved = resolve_path(...) added an if block: my $resolved = resolve_path($path,$pack); +if ($resolved eq "") { +warn "$self: symlink loop - can't open $pack file $root/$path ($@)\n"; +return 2; +} With that change debsums does not fail on the symlink loops and reports them with all other problem files. BTW: openoffice.org-calc package did not have symlink loop, but it linked to a file from uno-libs3 package, which did have a loop, reinstalling uno-libs3 package fixed/removed the loop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792934 Title: symlink loop detected in path 'usr/share/doc/module-init- tools/changelog.Debian.gz' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debsums/+bug/1792934/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1812234] [NEW] [Suggestion] add default keyboard shortcut shift+prtscn to run xfce-screenshooter -r to capture a region
Public bug reported: There's already a decent xfce4-screenshooter for fast screenshots sharing and already two keyboard shortcuts for it in the default settings, namely: xfce4-screenshooter -f | PrtScn xfce4-screenshooter -w | Alt+PrtScn There's an often scenario (I suppose, haven't done a real research) when one needs to capture a screenshot of a selected region of a screen. And xfce4-screenshooter already has that option: xfce4-screenshooter -r. And adding it as xfce4-screenshooter -r | Shift+PrtScn worked like a bliss. Why not add this as a default setting into the package? Concerning the selection of Shift+PrtScn keys for the shortcut: 1. It's intuitive - first thing I did - I tried this combination - other screenshotting tools I used have similar shortcuts for this behavior 2. It's not in conflict with any other keyboard shortcut 3. [Bug 1769946] [NEW] package grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.93+2.02-2ubuntu8 fails to install and reboots the system
Public bug reported: System: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Lubuntu) Package: grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.93+2.02-2ubuntu8 1) The system is Lubuntu 18.04. During its install the installer (ubiquity) rebooted too soon without showing any success message. After reboot a new record appeared in my rEFInd that contains word "vmlinuz" which boots Lubuntu just fine. 2) The installer of KDE Neon (around 03.2018) reboots too early in the same vein. 3) After booting into the installed system and trying to `apt install`ing a new package dpkg asks: ``` dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. ```. 4) Running `sudo dpkg --configure -a --debug=100` produces almost no output and reboots the system. $ cat stderr.log Installing for x86_64-efi platform. $ cat stdout.log Setting up grub-efi-amd64-signed (1.93+2.02-2ubuntu8) ... 5) tail /var/log/dpkg 2018-05-08 20:57:39 startup packages configure 2018-05-08 20:57:39 configure grub-efi-amd64-signed:amd64 1.93+2.02-2ubuntu8 2018-05-08 20:57:39 status half-configured grub-efi-amd64-signed:amd64 1.93+2.02-2ubuntu8 6) A few days before it was producing more output, specifically the sentence: "Could not prepare Boot variable: No space left on device" 7) $ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev1,5G 0 1,5G 0% /dev tmpfs 300M 1,3M 299M 1% /run /dev/sda795G 4,0G 86G 5% / tmpfs 1,5G 6,8M 1,5G 1% /dev/shm tmpfs 5,0M 4,0K 5,0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs 1,5G 0 1,5G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/sda496M 31M 66M 32% /boot/efi tmpfs 300M 12K 300M 1% /run/user/1000 8) Laptop is Samsung R730 from 2010 (NP-R730-JS05RU), I guess it has EFI, not UEFI.
