[Bug 1953612] Re: Desktop Mouse Right Click -> COPY/PASTE Reuslt NOTHING

@Bin Li
I clear the log file from time to time, so 'grep gnome' command result nothing
for me.

Anyway, I believe as mentioned in the link you sent that this is the version of
the gnome-shell:
gnome-shell3.36.3-1ubuntu1~20.04.2

For the gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons I'm not sure but now I have
gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons 20.04.0-3~ubuntu20.04.6
Is there anyway of downgrading this?

[Bug 1518003] [NEW] Severe OpenGL rendering issues in games

2015-11-19 Thread Itai Bar-Haim
Public bug reported:

As I also asked in http://askubuntu.com/questions/698855/severe-
rendering-issues-in-games-intel-hd-4000-ubuntu-15-10

After updating Ubuntu to 15.10, 3D Steam games don't render things
correctly. The issue is so severe that it is unplayable, as polygons are
smeared all over the screen (see screenshots in the askubuntu link
above).

GLGears works fine, so I looked for advanced OpenGL samples I can test
it on but couldn't find anything, not ready to use nor something I need
to compile.

My processor is Intel® Core™ i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz × 4 and I use the processors
graphics, i.e. Intel HD 4000 series (Intel® Haswell Desktop).
The system is 64 bit, with 8 gigs of RAM.

I tried installing the ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers repository and drivers, but
it didn't help.
I tried installing XFCE desktop and running the game from there, so there is no
Compiz interference, but it didn't help.

What do you mean when you say it solves the problem?
I've added it to my /etc/rc.local and rebooted but I still can't change
brightness level.

[Bug 954661] Re: backlight brightness not adjustable by default on Dell XPS 13

2013-05-31 Thread Itai Ganot
Hi,
I have a brand new Dell XPS 13 FHD (not the developer edition) and the problem
i have is that the brightness keys don't function.
My kernel version is 3.8.0-22 and this fix you mentioned here never helped me,
the brightness level always stays in it's maximum (way too bright).
The value in the file is 0 by default in this case.
I understand that it was solved on 3.8.0-17 and then appeared again at -18 , do
you have any idea when will it be fixed?
Thanks
Itai

[Bug 1159145] Re: Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless connection on Dell XPS 13 crash with iwlwifi: fail to flush all tx fifo queues

2013-05-28 Thread Itai Zukerman
After replacing my adapter (with an identical model), the drop after a
few minutes and other problems originally reported went away. So, I
guess, that's what I'd recommend, too.

However, I still have problems with high ping times. The solution to
that is to disable power management in the iwlwifi driver.

When I asked why Dell ships an Ubuntu laptop with a wireless adapter
known to have issues, the reply was along the lines of: to earn the
Ultrabook moniker it must ship with a Centrino adapter. Just FYI.

I'm having the same issues. Dell XPS 13 developer edition, upgraded to

probably be returning this laptop.

[Bug 625193] Re: Official 10.10 wallpaper is unappealing

2010-08-28 Thread Itai Molenaar
Vish, you must be joking. You don't have to write an artistic critique
to convey that the idea of taking a previous picture, adding a few
splotches of color that really does not go well with the theme, (orange
and purple have no relationship with each other, which is why NO ONE
LIKES IT, as it does not please the aesthetic perspectives of our
brains) is a really bad idea. Assuming this is actually a joke, a
serious attempt by the guys who improved this can only be considered
pathetic at the most, as the differences are literally just a couple of
orange splotches, the quality not something that can be considered
anything beyond a subjective idea of ugly although I will admit that
design is COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE. My point being, is that thinking that
all of this is a good idea is quite a bug, if not with the wallpaper
itself (although it is) then with the guy who made the damn changes. If
you can get a professional to design a new font, you can pick a damn
homeless guy off the street to design something as simple as a
wallpaper.

Canonical, save this for April 1. Really.

[Bug 373528] [NEW] USB Headsets do not work with ALSA

2009-05-07 Thread Itai Molenaar
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.04 x64
Kernel 2.6.28-12 I believe

When I plug my headset/mic combo in to a usb port, the computer recognizes the
headset, but does not initiate the device with ALSA, I would have to switch to
OSS to use the headset. I have a Genius product, but unfortunately, there are
similar problems with Logitec headsets. The exact option for me in the Sound
Preferences window for my set is:
Elite Silicon USB Audio Device USB Audio (ALSA) When I start a test, I get
the following error;

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback.

Also, when I try a sound capture test, I get the following error:
gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat:
Could not open audio device for playback.

Obviously, sound should be working without these errors, and with sound.

CD-ROM is NOT in ISO 9660 format This is a problem on multiple computers, so
I do not think I messed up any settings.

[Bug 369030] [NEW] Can't find ext4 filesystem on dev loop0

2009-04-28 Thread Itai Molenaar
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.04
Ext4 filesystem

Hi, when I try to mount a .iso image using the command line, (mount -o
loop -t ext4 example.iso /destination) The mount fails and I get the
following error message:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so

The results of dmesg | tail:

[27349.544574] sdb: sdb1
[27349.545341] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk
[27349.545423] sd 8:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0
[27402.647514] VFS: Can't find ext4 filesystem on dev loop0.

[27836.388611] FAT: bogus number of FAT structure
[27836.388616] VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev loop0.

This procedure works without a hitch in previous Ubuntu versions,
unfortunately, ext4 seems to be the problem here.

[Bug 369032] [NEW] Need to manually enable sound on HP Pavilions.

2009-04-28 Thread Itai Molenaar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alsa-base

On any HP Pavilion, no matter what release of Ubuntu (Jaunty, Intrepid,
etc) owners always need to edit alsa-base.conf and manually enable
sound, which is not only intimidating to anyone not used to such
endeavours, it is an irritation to everyone else, assuming they can find
a correct fix, which I know many people cannot without help. If it is
HP's fault, they will need more pressure than just me to fix this, and
if it can be simply changed by the people here, more the better.
Luckily, it is only the Pavilions that have this problem, but many
people use them, which would be a deterrent for many people. Thank you
for taking this into consideration.

I actually wondered whether there was much point submitting this bug
report. abook seems like an ex-project.

[Bug 320117] [NEW] lack of documentation for abook costum fields

2009-01-22 Thread itai
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: abook

Ubuntu version: 8.10 (intrepid)
Package version: 0.5.6-5

The 'abook' contact manager supports custom fields, but there is no
explanation as to how to use them in the man page (neither in 'abook'
nor 'abookrc'). A little digging and grepping found that one should add
lines such as the following to one's .abook/abookrc:

customfield 1 Birthday

But this should be documented.

(Peculiarly enough, a different method entirely appears at
http://linux.die.net/man/5/abookrc , except that this presumed man page
does not appear to exist elsewhere.)
