[Bug 1773520] Re: After update to 4.13-43 Intel Graphics are Laggy
Hi Joseph, Kernel 4.17-rc7 still has the same issue, been digging though and have found a possible cause (Ignore the name of the bug...) https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103497 This came from the following post on a Manjaro forum https://forum.manjaro.org/t/poor-opengl-performance-on-linux-4-14/35453 The drm-tip kernel does indeed resolve the issue for me bringing back 60FPS lock on the vsync'ed app I'm working on. [Bug 1597079] Re: AMDGPU Black Screen when Booting
Hi Christopher, How can I assist further with this? A lot of the original attachments my system uploaded via the bug panel have been deleted from this report. Just so you know the only way you can get the system to boot to being usable is via nomodeset which I believe won't load the AMDGPU driver at all (assuming this is valid with ubuntu as well https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AMDGPU) I have cross posted this in the freedesktop bugzilla as well as I don't believe this is an ubuntu specific bug. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97605 I have also tried with 16.10 recently but get the same results as 16.04 so it doesn't seem to be fixed in the later kernel :( Regards James ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #97605 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97605 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1597079 Title: AMDGPU Black Screen when Booting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu/+bug/1597079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1597079] Re: AMDGPU Black Screen when Booting
Just to update I have tried the nomodeset parameter previously (sorry hadn't put that in the description) The OS does load and you get visuals but its using the software rendering and will only allow 800x600 resolution and refuses to change to anything other than that. Just to note I have tried the AMDGPU-PRO beta driver v16.30 (just on the off-chance) since posting, and it does allow you to boot with full 1920x1080 resolution to the logon screen. Attempting to log on either causes a complete crash or display corruption though. I will look at the BIOS update in the meantime :) Any thing else I can do please let me know as this Ubuntu install isn't doing anything else at the moment so I can play ;) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1597079 Title: AMDGPU Black Screen when Booting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu/+bug/1597079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1597079] Re: AMDGPU Black Screen when Booting
Apologies... forgot to mention: This affects ubuntu 16.04 uname -a Linux hp-grey 4.4.0-28-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 24 10:09:13 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have tried the following mainline kernels and they don't seem to have made any difference v4.7-rc5-yakkety/ v4.4.4-wily/ Running with nomodeset allows the GUI to show up in 800x600 but doesn't allow any resolution change. Output of xrandr --listproviders just says "Can't open display " Please let me know if I can be of any further help James -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1597079 Title: AMDGPU Black Screen when Booting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu/+bug/1597079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
