[Bug 1617468] Re: Package contains files in /usr/@DATADIRNAME@/locale

2016-12-20 Thread Jeff Stone
Could someone provide the commands to merge the files into the share
directory properly? I think it'll be something like:

cd /usr
sudo cp -r @DATADIRNAME@/* share

But I'm not really an expert and I don't want to experiment. Thanks

[Bug 634637] Re: [maverick] shiki-colors upgrade failed using update-manager

2010-09-10 Thread Jeff Stone
I feel bad, it was just a simple wish list thing, and Andrew seemed to
have had all the bases covered. He specified breaks and replaces arc-
brave etc.

Is it possible that conflicts should also have been specified? Or is
it because the arc-* packages have been deleted from the repos?

What happens now? If there's a further update to shiki-colors, can that
make everything right again?

[Bug 634637] Re: [maverick] shiki-colors upgrade failed using update-manager

2010-09-10 Thread Jeff Stone
Wow, good catch. So to have 2.7-1ubuntu2 installed, you'd have to have
installed Maverick before June 12?

So, for my information, what happens when a package is deleted? Nothing
deletes it from the user's machine? And what's the consequence for
Jeremy's machine? Was it just a one-time error and from now on, he'll be
ok?

Would a good test be to get myself a Karmic, install shiki-* and arc-*,
then upgrade to Lucid and then Maverick? Or is that unnecessary?

[Bug 433714] Re: initial empathy account wizard does not offer IRC as an account

2010-08-18 Thread Jeff Stone
Thing is, this is a GNOME problem, we need them to fix it first. That's
what I'm trying to do, expedite getting a fix.

I get the feeling, both from what Omer says and from looking at the
GNOME bug, that the GNOME people think it's a fair bit of work. If I'm
right in my analysis of the code, it's trivial. Whatever encouragement
we can give to the GNOME people to verify what I found and get a fix out
quick will be best for everyone. Then we figure out if it can be
backported to Lucid.

I thought I'd pass this by your technical people, I've just added this
comment to GNOME bug 596086, which is the upstream bug for this one

I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than I make it out to be, but it seems
 to
me if you remove the strdiff for irc in
 account_assistant_chooser_enter_details_filter_func, won't that make
empathy_protocol_chooser_set_visible display IRC in the Assistant?

Maybe you can verify this in some way to add support for getting the fix
in GNOME 2.32, and therefore into Maverick.

[Bug 619420] [NEW] shiki-* packages suggest the non-existent arc-* packages

2010-08-17 Thread Jeff Stone
Public bug reported:

The shiki-colors package (Metacity themes) suggests arc-colors
(backgrounds), which no longer exists. The same for all the individual
packages, shiki-brave suggests arc-brave, etc.

In /debian/control, each line that suggests an arc-* package should be
removed. It can't be good to suggest a package that doesn't exist.

This applies to Lucid and later, but should at least get fixed for
Maverick.

There is a separate bug 564769 requesting that the actual backgrounds
from the arc- packages be included with the corresponding shiki-package.
This seems like a good idea, as these backgrounds were very well done.

[Bug 619420] Re: shiki-* packages suggest the non-existent arc-* packages

2010-08-17 Thread Jeff Stone
Maybe I should give more information for triaging...

In Synaptic, in Lucid and later, look at the details for shiki-colors,
you'll see it suggests arc-colors, but it's in italics because arc-
colors doesn't exist. Same for shiki-blue, shiki-wine, each of them
suggests a corresponding arc- package that no longer exists. While this
doesn't seem to cause any problems, it doesn't seem right. The arc-
packages were removed in Lucid because of the changes to GDM.

Currently, all the shiki-* packages in Lucid suggest the corresponding
arc-* package (shiki-colors suggests arc-colors, shiki-brave-theme
recommends arc-brave, etc) but of course the arc-* packages don't exist.
So regardless whether the Arc-*.png wallpapers are eventually included
in the shiki packages, the suggest should be removed.

usually works great (but sometimes it is not reacting), but if I put there
folder that contains other files and other folders, it doesn't synchronize
all of them. For example I put there folder that contains 5 other folders
and 2 files, and it only put online 1 folder and one file.
If it may help, todays I had also two .u1confilict files created.

[Bug 546364] [NEW] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.32/lib/kref.c:43 kref_get+0x21/0x30()

2010-03-24 Thread Jeff Stone
Public bug reported:

I tried Guest Session, which worked fine, but returning to original
user, got this crash. Same thing twice in a row, so at least somewhat
repeatable. Using up-to-date (updated today) Lucid. Not sure if I should
be reporting this under gdm-guest-session or kernel, but for now
following apport's recommendation. It seems like a separate bug from any
others that exist as it's specific to using the guest session. Please
let me know if there's anything I can do to help with problem
determination and as always, thanks for the great work on Ubuntu. I
*love* the way Lucid is turning out.

[Bug 432569] Re: Ubuntu One does not sync all files

2009-09-21 Thread Jeff Stone
I believe this bug affects me too. I have a folder in my Ubuntu One
directory, none of which shows up on the web interface. I have no
messages or specific info to add, unfortunately. I also realize this
feature may not be working yet.

[Bug 431059] Re: gramps 3.1.2 in Karmic should allow python2.5 or python2.6

2009-09-21 Thread Jeff Stone
I've been trying to be sure that everything will work with python2.6, so
I figured out how to modify the package to require python2.6 instead on
python2.5. Then I got this error:

j...@ubuntu-karmic:~$ sudo dpkg -i gramps_3.1.2-1_all.deb
Selecting previously deselected package gramps.
(Reading database ... 110906 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking gramps (from gramps_3.1.2-1_all.deb) ...

Processing triggers for shared-mime-info ...

I'm learning all this as I go along, but I see postinst failed in
pycentral, and I can see the offending code in pycentral:

if byte_compile_default:
if self.private_files:
self.default_runtime.byte_compile(self.private_files, bc_option,
  exclude_regex, ignore_errors)

That tells me that self.default_runtime is null, but I've changed
PythonVersion in the control file to 2.6.

I found a file called /usr/share/pycentral-data/pyversions.py that says
supported_versions includes only python2.4 and 2.5. So now, I don't know
if this is a bug in pycentral (doubt it) or whether there is a
replacement for pycentral with python2.6 (more likely) or whether this
is related in some way to bug #353251

I don't know if pycentral is part of Python or what it is, so I can't
proceed any further for now.

[Bug 432599] [NEW] Requesting Celestia 1.6.0 in Karmic

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: celestia

Hi, if this not the right way to make this request, please let me know,
I'm new.

I'd like to request Celestia 1.6.0 in Karmic. It seems to be quite a
major update.

Thanks for your patience,

Jeff

[Bug 431059] [NEW] gramps 3.1.2 in Karmic should allow python2.5 or python2.6

2009-09-16 Thread Jeff Stone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gramps

Hi, the summary pretty much says it all, I've checked with Benny
(benny.maleng...@gmail.com) from the GRAMPS mailing list (gramps-
b...@lists.sourceforge.net) who said:

I believe gramps works fine with python 2.6, there is no reason for
python-2.5 only, = 2.5 should be all needed (but 3.0 will not work
obviously).
You should notify the packager if there is an issue with the karmic package.

There's also this page http://gramps-
project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Python2.6 which seems to confirm that
GRAMPS is just fine with 2.6.

I think the package should require either python2.5 or python2.6 (but
not 3.0). As it is currently, it requires python2.5 and python = 2.5.

I don't know if this should go to the people at Debian, if so how should
I proceed? I'm just a guy sitting in my living room so my apologies if
I've done anything incorrectly.

I can help you verify the fix if something is implemented.

My eternal gratitude to everyone at Ubuntu,

Jeff
