[Bug 42600] Re: Microphone does not work on Dell Inspiron 630m
Prinz Igor: I have the same sound card as you have but have not been able to fix it with the fixes mentioned here. My hardware (laptop Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V3205) has an internal microphone which works good (though it has a quite low volume). You could try that one by opening up the GNOME Volume Manager, press "Switches"-tab and then "IntMic". Make sure it is not muted or anything (I had to use "alsamixer" and go into "Capture"-mode to do that)... Everyone else: You are mentioning that you have a tab called "Options" in GNOME Volume Manager. The only tab I have are "Playback" and "Switches". Are the tabs in the Volume Manager audio device dependent or do you have a different version of it? The version is I'm using is '2.18.0'. As I wrote to Igor I am experiencing the same problem (external microphone is absolutely quiet but internal microphone works) but the fixes you mention don't work for my (similar) hardware: $ sudo lspci -vv [...] 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) Subsystem: Fujitsu Siemens Computer GmbH Unknown device 10ad Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/42600 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108720] Re: fiesty fawn - gnome panels not appearing from desk to desk
Hi, I don't know if you'ce solved this or not. I can confirm this bug as I just experienced it. I was just playing around with compiz and rebooted my computer. GNOMEs GL-settings are set to "normal workspace"-switching appearance. I've found a workaround (see bottom of this mesage). Just do: 1. Go into Main menu -> System -> Preferences -> GL Desktop. 2. Uncheck the box "Enable GL Desktop". 3. Check the box "Enable GL Desktop". This workaround resets the number of workspaces I have as well as puts all my open windows in one and the same workspace. but that is another bug already reported. If I experience this again I could try to set number of workspaces to 1 and then increase to my normal of four. -- fiesty fawn - gnome panels not appearing from desk to desk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108720 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 106864] Re: Feisty boot fail "can't access tty" IDE SATA problem
Hi, I am also experiencing this bug on a friends computer. I have tried the "break=top"-solution and also the piix-module solution - neither of these two worked. I should also state that I didn't see any activity in the floppy drive that was connected to the computer. Since it is my friends computer I can not give a more indepth description right now. Knoppix boots up fine (kernel 2.6.19 I think). I am thinking of trying to install Dapper and try upgrading through internet efterwards. Maybe something that could work. I've also seen someone fix the problem by swapping cables to the SATA harddrive(s) - it's not very scientific but it's worth a try. -- Feisty boot fail "can't access tty" IDE SATA problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 48594] Re: fonts change size when they shouldn't
Hi, I am experiencing something thelike. It appears that my system randomly select either a bigger or a smaller font size as default. This font size change is not visible in all applications, but I first notice it in the user/password field in GDM. It is also noticeable in Matlab. I have a small feeling that rebooting from Windows directly to Ubuntu usually gives me the smaller font size, but it can happen when booting from powered off state aswell. I am running Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 on 2.6.20-16-generic. Chris: Did your font size change permanently? If so, I should file a new bug about this.
