Will it be available via jaunty updates. Or is the PPA
http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ppa/ubuntu/
going to be the only place where its available.

In addition to upgrading to kernel 2.6.30 you need to use latest intel driver

@Andrew. You must understand that there is not one or two user who cannot
use UXA. Ubuntu X team recommends not to use UXA because of stability
issues, unless you are talking about some other distro.UXA is unstable if
you want proof read this twiki.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/UxaTesting
Unless of course you want to state that ubuntu/ kubuntu will never work for
all, if it works its a miracle if it dont you are screwed look for another
distro.

[Bug 360400] Re: jaunty usb disk drive taking a few mins to detect

On more investigating. I found that when it takes long time, it uses
uhci_hcd driver instead of ehci_hcd so I am getting the USB mounted as
USB 1.1 instead of 2.0 . Another thing is that it happens when I am
using a docking station with my laptop. If I remove the docking station
it works fine. So something happens when docking station is used.

There is nothing can be done other than realize that ubuntu sucked bug time,
by letting this happen. If all they do is just make the code into packages
and release with out even testing if this works and with out even attempting
to look what's wrong, then it sucks big time.

I have been using UXA last day. and with that I am having no freezes. Also
there was an update on mesa packages from repository and I applied it.

[Bug 364508] Re: [i965gm] (Needs 2.6.29.1 kernel) jaunty with UXA enabled X freeze on KDE 4 log out (UXA bug)

Now it is not working even with 2.6.29.1 kernel, guess some update in between
broke that behaviour also :(
It freezes on log out on all kernels with message

I updated packages from

After that it goes back to my desktop, and everything works fine.
Thankfully there is no freezes it resumes the system.

[Bug 360400] Re: jaunty usb disk drive taking a few mins to detect

2009-04-26 Thread Jithin Emmanuel
This problem exists with all kernels. I am currently using 2.6.30 rc3.
May be its not a kernel issue some other problem. I wonder if I am the
only one having this problem. If any thing has changed with kernels is
the time taken to detect . It has gone up to even 10 mins.

OK. Now that we have a working work around, is there any clean way to revert
back to jaunty packages, with out having to re install. Also is this virtual
size fix without UXA ?I ran into a lot of issues with UXA unrelated to
freezes.

[Bug 364508] Re: jaunty with UXA enabled X freeze on KDE 4 log out

2009-04-22 Thread Jithin Emmanuel
This freeze is occuring only with 2.6.28 kernel. Its working perfectly in
2.6.29.1 kernel.
But in 2.6.30.rc2 kernel it gives a blank screen but no X freeze. I can switch
virtual terminals and caps lock keys works , which was not in the case of
2.6.28 kernel.

There is one more bug I reported with UXA on 28 kernel6.29.1
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/362362

The 2.6.29.1 kernel fixes that also. Since I cannot reproduce with newer
kernels than the one shipped with jaunty, I cannot provide any debug
information.

2009-04-04 Thread Jithin Emmanuel
I am also having the same problem.
I have set my wireless connection to auto connect mode. But if I miss the login
part ie I didnt type kwallet password for a long time an then I type kwallet
password and then try to connect by clicking in the list of connections shown
in in plasmoid it does not look up the already stored one. It creates a new
configuration.
Result is that wireless tab in Network management has a lot of connections by
same name all with same configuration.

Same also applies if some how the power goes off and then comes back and I try
to reconnect thorugh the plasmoid it asks to create a new configuration.
I am using plasma-widget-network-manager latest from the repositories.
