Hi!

It's pretty hard to investigate this bug without a stack-trace.

GladeUI-Message: The DevHelp installed on your system is too old,
devhelp feature will be disabled.

Actually it shouldn't make a big difference for you but I will have to
check why this happens because it doesn't seem to be Ubuntu specific.
Anyway, you should have nearly the full functionality of glade and
anjuta.

This is actually a bug in the underlying docking library. Help welcome
but that's not really easy to fix though some of the things came with

I tried to reproduce the behaviour with git master and gnome-3-2 branch

[Bug 878555] Re: Anjuta 3.2.0 Fails to execute program when Glade UI file has unsaved changes.

2011-10-20 Thread Johannes Schmid
That sounds impressive ;)

Our usual test object if anjuta scales is the anjuta project itself
which is currently about 150k lines of code but it is pleasant to know
that it works for others, too and we might want to come back to offer.

In general if you have any suggestions etc. it is easier if you directly
file them in GNOME Bugzilla (shortcut in anjuta: Use Help-File bug)
because more developers are reading the bugs there and I don't have to
upstream them manually. Launchpad is nice to filter out some crap from,
well, not so experience Ubuntu users but still upstream works better for
us. You can also use the mailing list of course for general comments.

Sorry, but if you want this bug fixed we need details on the server.

There are *plenty* of different authentification mechanism for
subversion, popular are for example https:// svn+ssh:// or plain svn://.
As your server is not public nobody can try it so we need as much
information as possible to reproduce.

[Bug 874609] Re: Glade Editor in Anjuta 2.32.1.1 has HUGE Progress Bar

2011-10-15 Thread Johannes Schmid
Hi!

Sorry, I cannot tell you as I am not using Ubuntu but I have read some
reviews that it feels more polished than 11.04. You only have the choice
between 3D-Unity, 2D-Unity and gnome-shell now though and 2D-Unity still
seems to be buggy.

Perhaps you should try the live CD first before installing and see how
it works on your machine.

BTW, we would love to provide newer version for Ubuntu LTS but it just
doesn't ship the necessary dependencies.

Depends on what type of project you have. If it is no automake project
but Makefile only there is no much you can do in anjuta beside viewing

Anyway, a lot of things are improved in the project manager in 3.0 so I

I am just the upstream maintainer and I don't use Ubuntu myself so I

[Bug 807598] Re: Anjuta Vala Plugin not loading with vala-team vala installed

2011-07-11 Thread Johannes Schmid
Having installed Anjuta (2:2.32.1.1-0ubuntu4) for Ubuntu 11.04 and the
vala-team valac and libvala(-dev) from ppa:vala-team/ppa, Anjuta is not
letting me enable the Anjuta Vala plugin.

I expect to be able to view and enable the plugin from Edit -
Preferences - Installed plugins

Sorry, probably I should have read your original report more carefully.
There is no need to enable the plugin manually, it is automatically
loaded when you open a vala file.

[Bug 807598] Re: Anjuta Vala Plugin not loading with vala-team vala installed

2011-07-11 Thread Johannes Schmid
The vala plugin is only for autocompletion and auto-indentation.

However, anjuta 3.0 (from the gnome3 ppa) can of course create vala
projects, see also the tutorials on developer.gnome.org. Anjuta 2.32 was
released quite some time ago and vala wasn't that big back then.

2011-07-09 Thread Johannes Schmid
If you start using upstream ppas, please do the same for anjuta and
install 3.0 from the gnome3 ppa. It is not unlikely that different vala
version are not supported by anjuta as it uses internal methods of
libvala which doesn't have a stable API.

[Bug 807670] Re: anjuta crashes when opening .vala file without having valac installed

2011-07-09 Thread Johannes Schmid
It's more like: Ubuntu should take care to have the required
dependencies of anjuta are installed!. If you build anjuta from source
the vala plugin won't be build if vala isn't installed as it requires
libvala-0.12.

[Bug 779711] Re: Anjuta's glade plugin causes strange behavior

2011-05-10 Thread Johannes Schmid
Yes, this progress bar is totally wrong. Basically Ubuntu is shipping an
incompatible version of glade with anjuta as anjuta 2.x has never been
tested with glade 3.8.x but instead we concentrated on anjuta 3.0 +
glade 3.10.

For Anjuta 3.0 you need parts of the GNOME 3.0 stack but you don't need
a full GNOME 3. Btw, anjuta doesn't use any dedicated glade menu,
instead you can use the Edit menu as with all other editors.

[Bug 779711] Re: Anjuta's glade plugin causes strange behavior

2011-05-09 Thread Johannes Schmid
This can happen sometimes if the minimal size of the widgets inside the
anjuta window is bigger that the minimal horizontal/vertical size. As
most of the widgets have a vertical scrollbar it usually happens in
horizontal direction. This confuses the window manager to act in weird
ways.

However, I don't know which widget is responsible in your screenshoot. I
would be great if you could check if this still happens with anjuta 3.0
(available from the gnome3 ppa) as there have been huge changes
especially in the glade plugin.

2011-01-24 Thread Johannes Schmid
No, non of the other GNOME3 modules should be required. As I said, if
the new gnome-terminal is installed we might inherit some of it's
settings but if it isn't there it won't matter.

Anjuta3 isn't very useful without the new glade3 (and as such the glade
plugin available) because all the tutorial that will soon show up on
developer.gnome.org assume that you have Anjuta3 with glade enabled.
Devhelp would be nice but isn't super important.

2011-01-20 Thread Johannes Schmid
Until now, we don't use any gsettings keys from GNOME 3.x. It might be
possible that the terminal plugin will check gsettings keys of gnome-
terminal in the future but in that case it would just fail gracefully if
those are not found.

But I cannot speak for glade/devhelp here.

But good to know that it is at least available in the official ppa for
now.

[Bug 700505] [NEW] Update anjuta to 2.91.x release

2011-01-08 Thread Johannes Schmid
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: anjuta

The 2.91.x release series is the development cycle that will lead to
anjuta 3.0 which will be released together with GNOME 3.0 to be ready
for Ubuntu 11.04. It would be great to have that development releases in
the Ubuntu Natty Alpha/Beta to get user testing.

Anjuta 2.91.x depends on:
* GNOME 2.91.x stack (already in natty)
* gdl 3.0 (parallel installable with gdl 2.x)
* glade 3.9.0/1 (optional, parallel installable with glade 3.7/8)

Seems that you have updated your automake version meanwhile. As you can
see from the output in the message pane the build system seems to be
broken. But that's easy to fix - just goto Build-Configure and select
the Regenerate checkbox.

Thanks for reporting this bug.

In general I would prefer if you open a bug on bugs.gnome.org for it as
this is were the anjuta project tracks bugs and they will be processed
much faster than here on launchpad.

Thanks!

[Bug 489503] [NEW] libgdl 2.28.2 is broken with client-side windows (gtk+ 2.18)

2009-11-28 Thread Johannes Schmid
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libgdl-1-3

The new cient-side window support in gtk+ 2.18 revealed some bugs in
libgdl causing a lot of Gtk-Criticals (that probably result in crashes
later).

Upstream bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=597417
Upstream commit:
http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gdl/commit/?id=5a68071359e9a001e77fcb7c406960e3bd26098d

This was released in the stable 2.28.2 tarball available from
download.gnome.org. I would really encourage you to update the package
in Ubuntu to the latest version.

Thanks!

[Bug 202562] Re: Crash setting default directory in preferences (g_str_hash)

2009-11-28 Thread Johannes Schmid
I cannot reproduce this in the latest version and the dialog has also
changed in the meantime (using a GtkFileChooserButton instead of a
GnomeFileEntry). I think this is fixed.

[Bug 4384] Re: [PATCH] absolute icon path and specs problems

2009-11-28 Thread Johannes Schmid
Why isn't this marked as fixed for all versions?

[Bug 350825] Re: gnome-lirc-properties 0.3.1-0ubuntu1 is broken

2009-09-17 Thread Johannes Schmid
I think this was fixed upstream here: http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gnome-
lirc-properties/commit/?id=715c91972695c28f3c11e1961e64e8cad60f9ac8

I have not verified though it it works for Ubuntu as Bastian is usually
testing his stuff on Fedora.

[Bug 406268] [NEW] Unable to lock admin directory when automatic update is in progress

2009-07-29 Thread Johannes Schmid
Public bug reported:

When the update-manager comes up automatically (once a week) and I click
on install updates then it claims that it cannot do that know because
another packaging application is running. I took me some time to find
out that at this exact moment Ubuntu (Jaunty) install the security
updates in the background (as configured) and a such blocks the package
management.

I would appreciate if the update-manager did only come up after the
security updates are installed because anything else is completely
intransparent for the user.

[Bug 178038] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV

2009-04-20 Thread Johannes Schmid
Got the crash dialog today will all packages updated. I don't know
exactly what npviewer.bin does - nothing seems to be affected when it
crashes but the crash dialog is kind of annoying!
