[Bug 861289] [NEW] Searching the Ubuntu One Music Store Causes Banshee to Crash

2011-09-28 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

I open the Ubuntu One Music Store and search for music by album (i.e.
"classical chillout"). When the results appear I try to scroll down but
the overlay scrollbar freezes, as does banshee, and then it crashes. If
I repeat this but just click on a result instead of attempting to scroll
down Banshee still crashes once a result has been clicked.

[Bug 916032] [NEW] Gwibber ignoring preferences and running at login

2012-01-13 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 11.10 I have unchecked the Gwibber option to run at login.

However when I login Gwibber does run. It is not listed in the startup
applications list, and in the notification area two instances of
Broadcast are listed. One which has the arrow beside the name and
expanded with the 'Update status / Messages / Replies / Private' options
listed. The second listed instance of Broadcast does not have the arrow
and does not show the expanded options.

In system monitor three instances of gwibber-service are listed (ID

[Bug 1169325] [NEW] Latest linux-headers-3.8.0-18 with Nvidia causes freeze on boot

2013-04-15 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04

Just got the latest linux-headers-3.8.0-18 update. After a restart Grub
launches, if I choose Ubuntu (its either that or a memory test) I get a
screen of jumbled text and nothing else happens, though the term "kernel
tainted by nvidia" or something to that effect can be seen in the text

I did a hard shutdown, grub launches again and use the advanced options
to pick the previous kernel and everything back to normal.

Using the Nvidia 310 updates repo

Removing the Nvidia repo and using the default Xorg graphics lets the
system boot up normally.

[Bug 1155524] [NEW] Banshee forgetting 'source specific' settings

2013-03-15 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.04

Banshee should remember the source specific settings in the preferences
section.

Since installing 13.04 Banshee does not remember the source specific
settings. For example; instead of importing CDs as my selected FLAC, it
will import as ogg. When you select the different Sources the associated
folder will have gone blank on each start-up. Lastfm settings are being
saved and seem to be scrobbling fine.

Let me know if you require further info and how to get it for you.

[Bug 1131636] Re: After QtWebkit update Skype is not launching

2013-03-17 Thread Keith Drummond
My bug (Bug #1155327) has been marked a duplicate of this. Like I said
in that, my workaround is choosing the standard Xorg drivers, then Skype
will launch and run fine. Using the Nvidia 304, 310 or 313 drivers will
cause Skype to crash when I try to start it. Is thus the same problem
then?

[Bug 1165173] Re: Overlay Scrollbars Not Working In Friends GUI

2013-04-08 Thread Keith Drummond
So everyone has a mouse wheel? Thats a very bold assumption. The overlay
scrollbar might look and feel alien on a phone, but since we are talking
about desktops then it is something that should be fixed. I except that
'Friends' at its current stage of development probably should not have a
home on the Ubuntu desktop if its being developed for the Touch
framework, especially as Touch is style a developer only environment
with no official release date for the end-user. How is the appropriate
for the Raring release date? This is not a 'WONTFIX' issue, this should
not have been rolled out in this development cycle.

I still can not see the sense in rolling out applications designed for a

[Bug 1165170] Re: Friends offers no way to change notification settings

2013-04-08 Thread Keith Drummond
To clarify, there is no release date for Ubuntu Touch. It is currently
just a developer preview. I appreciate that development has begun and
that the interim releases are for this purpose (and all I have used
since coming to Ubuntu in '07), however the Friends App has replaced
Gwibber at the Beta2 stage and some time after the feature freeze.
Friends is not Gwibber, not in terms of functionality or even usage. To
that end Gwibber should not have been removed for an early development
release of a new app being built for a UI that is itself still only in
early development. I am sure devs are being encouraged to embrace the
new UI, but I think this is jumping the gun. Friends offers no benefits
over Gwibber right now, I do not expect perfect, Gwibber never was but I
found it very useful tool. If it was even the intent to bring Friends up
to the Gwibber level of usability before the Raring release day then I
would have no issue. But from the comments I can see that we will be
lucky to reach that in 12 months time.

Friends could have been held back for the alpha phase of the next Ubuntu
release and had a full cycle. Now we end up with this app in its current
state for maybe the next 9 months that Raring is supported for no
benefit for the user.

[Bug 1066646] [NEW] "unitydashlegalseen" Causing back-up error

2012-10-14 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.10 Beta

After clicking and reading the new 'legal notice' in the Unity dash each
subsequent automated back-up would end with the following error message;

Could not back up the following files. Please make sure you are able to open
them.
/home/[USERNAME]/.cache/unitydashlegalseen

Manually finding the file and changing the file permission to 'read and

do that is not the expected behaviour.

[Bug 1048336] [NEW] Closed quicklists appearing under open quicklists

2012-09-09 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

Currently running Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 1 (currently up-to-date)

When I right-click on a quicklist then move to right-click another
quicklist in the Unity launcher the closed quicklist can still be seen,
specifically the parts that would overlap with the currently open
quicklist if both were open simultaneously.

A screenshot should be attached below to show the effect.

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap --gst-disable-registry-fork and debug.

[Bug 1048341] Re: Banshee crashing after launching

2012-09-09 Thread Keith Drummond
Installed the package, but I am still seeing a "no debugging symbols
found" output in gbd.

Also instead of crashing, banshee is now freezing (going grey) and doing
nothing when I run with the gbd process. Just running 'banshee --debug'
causes it to launch and crash within seconds, but when I am quick enough
to get into the gbd terminal it just freezes up.

[Bug 1055732] [NEW] Banshee removing podcasts before they are played

2012-09-24 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

In previous versions of banshee a podcast would only be moved from the

thing keeps freezing. I use the 'cont' command to move it along, but
eventually banshee --debug ends and there is 'no stack' for the 'bt
full' command.

The latest uploads should illustrate that. Hopefully the debug symbols
are working too. Let me know if I can provide anything else

[Bug 1048748] [NEW] Can not add password to IRC account via Online Accounts

2012-09-10 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 1 (currently up-to-date)

When I add an IRC account to online accounts and add my details
(username and password) I should be allowed to log in.

What happens is that the password is not accepted and an error is
displayed asking me to grant access. The only way I can log in is
opening a chat window with nickerv and submitting my password manually.
Though this is not remembered and at next startup I am faced with this
error again.

[Bug 1048341] Re: Banshee crashing after launching

2012-09-10 Thread Keith Drummond
Got the updates from the PPA.

Banshee launches. The first time everything ran very slowly, Banshee
kept freezing/unfreezing and the media keys on my keyboard would not
work. I closed Banshee after about 10 mins. Opened again and now it
seems to be working fine. Playing music now and it has not frozen or
crashed.

Do you require any logs or other information?

Thanks again for all the help.

[Bug 1048341] Re: Banshee crashing after launching

2012-09-10 Thread Keith Drummond
Have restarted the computer several times now and that freeze/unfreeze
effect has not reoccurred, it was just the first run after the updates.

Have added and removed a few extensions. Ticked/unticked various items,
tried running all the various extensions and there has been no crashes,
freezes or other instability I can see. Just been playing with playlists
and so on, and all seems stable.

This only happens when I already have Banshee running. When I open
Tomboy it causes both Tomboy and Banshee to freeze and both must be
force closed (banshee via system monitor). The crash report I am

crash to happen.

[Bug 883742] Re: Deja Dup keeps asking for password

2011-10-31 Thread Keith Drummond
As a workaround I have removed the old backup folder and now have Deja
Dup pointing to a different folder. The first backup was a full backup
and everything went fine. With the previous settings I had changed the
option of 'saving 6 months' to just saving the last 3 months. It was
after that the error occurred and I could no longer make a backup.

The terminal command seems to have run a backup with no problems to the
new directory. I had to remove the old one to make space in my backup
location, and 6 months worth of backups. Sorry that I can not provide
any further details now.

[Bug 945542] [NEW] Globalmenu is filled with lingering menu options and open window names

2012-03-03 Thread Keith Drummond

When I set the top panel opacity to 0 the window names, menu options
still appear and remain after the window closes. This tends to occur

[Bug 908007] [NEW] Upgrade to 12.04 Alpha 1 Failed, Ubiquity Error

2011-12-22 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

I downloaded the 12.04 Alpha daily build and created a startup usb in
11.10. As usual I ran the startup usb, went through the usual steps of
preparing Ubuntu for install (in this case I choose upgrade 11.10 to
12.04 from the options). I was connected to the internet and included
the media option. Ubuquity ran and seemed to complete the install
process, but at the end instead of getting the 'restart' message I got
an error saying the installer had failed.

[Bug 976460] [NEW] 'Alt+F2', then 'r' breaks wallpaper while using Gnome Shell in Precise

2012-04-08 Thread Keith Drummond
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Beta 2 with Gnome Shell

Typing 'alt+f2', then typing 'r' should restart the deskop without the
need to log out. At the moment after using the command the desktop
wallpaper is broken, with a smaller version of the current wallpaper
being tiled on top. Restarting the computer fixes the issue, though you
normally see the broken wallpaper briefly when you log back in before it
returns to normal. Will attach image.
