Update: performing the format worked for me (removing the read protection removed the blk_update_request errors on Ubuntu). Hi Timo and Rafael, I'm not a sysadmin, but just a hobbyist who ordered a used SAS Hitachi hus723030als641. I'm experiencing the same thing (`blk_update_request: protection error` and `blk_update_request: i/o error` on Archlinux and Ubuntu). Also, in Windows 10, I am able to view the drive, but have trouble formatting it. Does this have anything to do with the read protection on the SAS drive? I was searching around and found the `sg_format` command. Running `sg_format /dev/sdX` reports that the drive has read protection on. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I'm currently trying to format the drives with `sg_format /dev/sdX --format` (which, if I understood the manpages correctly, I believe will unset the protection bit). Will let you know in a few hours when it completes. In the meantime, do you know anything about whether this SCSI protection level business is related to the error at hand? I don't understand it very well and I can't seem to find much useful information on it on the web, so any input would be appreciated. Comment on attachment 394269 Patch View in context: https://bugs.webkit.org/attachment.cgi?id=394269&action=review > Source/WTF/ChangeLog:11 > +will be even easier to detect if we change > RELEASE_ASSERT_WITH_MESSAGE() to actually print We should not change RELEASE_ALERT_WITH_MESSAGE() to unconditionally print its message. That message is only meant to be used in debug builds. But if you really want a message in a release build, you can always check the condition first and print your message before doing the RELEASE_ASSERT. I do not recommend doing this in the general case (for performance reasons), but in your implementation here, it’ll only be executed once. So checking and printing that error message won’t hurt much. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868108 Title: [autopkgtest][focal] ruby-gnome/3.4.1-2build1 class:TestWebKit2GtkWebView failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/webkit/+bug/1868108/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

On platforms that can guarantee their page sizes, this option to disable the mitigation should be #if’d out.

Comment on attachment 266795 Make commitSize at least as big as the page size View in context: https://bugs.webkit.org/attachment.cgi?id=266795&action=review commitSIze is only needed when "#if !ENABLE(JIT)". Let's put it in the appropriate sections. > Source/JavaScriptCore/interpreter/JSStack.cpp:46 > static StaticLock stackStatisticsMutex; > #endif // !ENABLE(JIT) > > +static size_t commitSize; Move the commitSize declaration just below committedBytesCount above. > Source/JavaScriptCore/interpreter/JSStack.cpp:58 > +commitSize = std::max(16 * 1024, getpagesize()); > + > #if !ENABLE(JIT) Move this initialization below the #if !ENABLE(JIT). Also, it may not matter much but the commitSize value should only be set once, not every time we construct a new JSStack. Perhaps it would be better to have static function and use that instead wherever you use commitSize currently in JSStack.cpp: static size_t commitSize() { static size_t size = 0; if (!size) size = std::max(16 * 1024, getpagesize()); return size; } -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391420 Title: JSCore crashes on ppc64el To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/webkit-open-source/+bug/1391420/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1318934] [NEW] F9 shortcut doesn't work after pressed in builtin terminal
Public bug reported: Package: /usr/bin/geany Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS Affected Geany versions: 1.23+dfsg-1~hyper1+precise (from ppa), 0.21.dfsg-1ubuntu4 (from Ubuntu repository) Details: If anyone of the shortcuts F5 (execute), F8 (compile), F9 (build), Shift+F9 (make) and Ctrl+Shift+F9 (make custom target) is pressed in the embedded terminal, then even after switching the focus back to the main editor, these 5 shortcuts still do not work. Expected to happen: The sourcecode being executed, compiled, built or made What happened instead: Nothing Remapping these keys to other shortcuts does not work, but the buttons and the options from the Build menu work fine. Other shortcuts also work, including F1, F2, F4, F6, Ctrl+C etc. This can be "fixed" by unchecking the "Override Geany keybindings" option in Edit -> Preferences -> Terminal, but this will disable all shortcuts for the terminal (e.g. Ctrl+C for SIGINT). Steps to reproduce: 1. Create an empty file with .c extension 2. Press F9 (works, brings you to the Compiler tab) 3. Go to the embedded terminal and press F9 (the ~ character should appear) 4. Switch focus back to the main editor and press F9 (nothing happens) This has been reported to Geany https://sourceforge.net/p/geany/bugs/1032/ but they say this is a Unity bug that they won't fix. [Bug 1046820] [NEW] touch support seems broken since qt4-x11-4.8.1
Public bug reported: I found that touch examples of QT (under /usr/lib/qt4/examples/touch/) works well on Ubuntu 11.10(with qt4-x11-4.7.4) but not on Ubuntu 12.04(with qt4-x11-4.8.1). On Ubuntu 12.04, touch examples of QT such as "dials", "fingerpaint", "knobs" and "pinchzoom" seems cannot get any touch event. Then I download the source code of qt4-x11 by 'apt-get source' and debug it. I found that there may be a mistake in file "debian/patches/kubuntu_28_xi2.1.patch". Look at the codes near line 714: 702 +QApplicationPrivate::TouchDeviceInfo tdi; 703 + 704 +for (int k = 0; k < devices[i].num_classes; ++k) { 705 +XIAnyClassInfo *xiclassinfo = devices[i].classes[k]; 706 +if (xiclassinfo->type == XITouchClass) { .. 712 +} else if (xiclassinfo->type == XIValuatorClass) { 713 +XIValuatorClassInfo *v = (XIValuatorClassInfo *)xiclassinfo; 714 +tdi.numValuators++; .. 728 +if (is_touch) 729 +touchDevices[devices[i].deviceid] = tdi; Thease codes is the initialization of `touchDevices', note that `tdi' is allocated from stack without any initialization, the initial value of `tdi.numValuators' is uncertain. Its value is always a negative number on my machine, even after couples of post increase(line 714). Trouble comes when program reaches to function `QETWidget::translateXI2Event', Look at the codes near line 563: 562 +double *values = dev->valuators.values; 563 +for (int i = 0; i < qMin(dev->valuators.mask_len * 8, tdi.numValuators); ++i) { .. 617 +} As I mentioned earlier, `tdi.numValuators' is always a negative number, program *never* will enter this `for' loop. As a result, application cannot get any touch properties except tracking ID. That is the trouble. [Bug 989850] Re: nvidia driver causes console freeze
I have a very similar issue with Nvidia driver as well. Mine is a 12.04 AMD64 machine. The symptom is very similar. Everything worked fine until when I try to logout (which I believe will go back to Framebuffer based lightdm) the machine freezes. Nouveau driver doesn't have the same problem and I think it is blacklisted when you install the nvidia additional driver. When I try to ping the machine, response coming up but with a extremely high latency, which indicates that something is still running but is using all CPU utilization. I'm on a AMD fusion based machine with APU hence I reverted back to AMD video. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit After upgrading to 11.04, I noticed that if gedit is present in the "Startup Applications" list, the gedit instance that opens on login is no longer used when a text file is opened from nautilus. [Bug 661450] Re: Support for multiple monitors broken
I can confirm that this occurs to me using the "final" production installation (11.04) as well. The secondary screen has black areas which seems to be available to opened applications but I cannot see. Please find five screenshots attached explaining what is wrong: 1. Setting both monitors to their native resolution results in black areas which seems to be there but I cannot see (laptop: 1280 x 800; external monitor 1280 x 1024) 2. Setting my external monitor to the correct resolution (1280 x 1024) and the laptop monitor to a slightly lower resolution (laptop: 1024 x 768) does not solve the matter 3. Set both monitors up as 1024 x 768 (the highest resolution denominator between the two screens) which seems to have made it work-able BUT the toolbar animation is not redrawn correctly and you can see "ghost" 4. More animation errors. 5. Switching back to just using one monitor (the laptop) resulted in an area of the monitor on the right not being accessible. My set up is as follows: Laptop Sony VAIO VGN-SZ60MN Monitor Dell 19" (1280 1024) All these worked in Ubuntu 10 and I have to say that being a newbie to this I did not expect production release to be this buggy. This has really dented my faith in Ubuntu and no doubt many other newbie as well. This is such a shame as I was just building my confidence up in using Linux instead of Windows. I really hope that this will be given a high priority and fixed soon. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I have a dual-monitor setup with the following resolutions: 1: 1920x1080 (left) 2: 1600x900 (right) Therefore, there are 180 pixels of so called "dead space" underneath the second (right-hand) monitor, which is explicitly not viewable due to physical constraints. The expected behaviour is dealing with this dead space is to not let the mouse enter at all, meaning icons/windows/etc will not become "trapped" inside. However, ubuntu will let the mouse wander into the dead zone, which, to the unknowing, is quite jarring, as the mouse will have literally "disappeared". [Bug 644431] [NEW] Side effects when right clicking on bottom scrollbar while dragging
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit In a gedit document with a bottom scrollbar, with multiple tabs open, unintended side effects occur. WHILE dragging the bottom scrollbar, right-clicking will switch the current document over to the tab which is directly over the mouse. The mouse pointer is at the bottom of the window, nowhere near the tabs. This is reproducible every time. Create a document and open another new tab. [Bug 619281] [NEW] Empathy does not show inactive users who are online
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy Specifically, I am talking about the MSN accounts Expected behaviour: Users who are idle or inactive should show up on the Empathy contact list as online (or idle). Encountered behaviour: Idle or inactive users are shown as offline. Note: This is not to be confused with users marked as away, just idle users. This bug can be reproduced at will: 1. Log into MSN Messenger/Meebo, and find an inactive (but online!) user. Remember his/her name. 2. Log into empathy, and note that that user is not listed as online, but offline. Re: [Bug 540696] Re: Laptop suspends when power cord unplugged
Hey LJ, The power indicator is actually full, and the issue persists irregardless of power level. It seems as though whatever the battery level, once the AV adapter is plugged in or removed, the battery level shows 0% for a split second, triggering the automatic suspend. - Julian On Sun, Aug 1, 2010 at 1:25 AM, Chow Loong Jin wrote: > On Sunday 01,August,2010 12:06 PM, Julian Lam wrote: > > Hello, could I kindly request somebody to take a look at this issue?
