[Bug 1899238] [NEW] package doesn't install - newer version in main repo available

2020-10-10 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

This bug report is about the package kodi-pvr-vdr-vnsi (3.6.4-1~focal)
focal, released in the Kodi stable PPA (ppa:team-xbmc/ppa).

The package is not available, because there seems to be a newer version
available in the main Ubuntu repository.

Problem:
The package from the main repo is not compatible with the Kodi package provided
by the Kodi stable PPA.
It says it doesn't meet the dependencies.

Solution:
Rebuild kodi-pvr-vdr-vnsi (3.6.4-1~focal) to be a newer version as the one in
the main repo.

I installed the PPA-version by hand.

[Bug 1871375] Re: kodi-pvr-vdr-vnsi cannot be installed

2020-04-08 Thread Laryllan
I was able to resolve the issue.

I upgraded with the eoan Kodi ppa active, so my kodi package was still eoan
branch.
By manually "downgrading" to the focal version, I was able to install
kodi-pvr-vdr-vnsi again.

Thanks for the hint.

The wl kernel module seems not to honor the crda setting. It doesn't connect to
high channels at all.
See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1574196

Nevertheless, Ubuntu still doesn't set the regulatory domain automatically.
I'm using 17.10.

[Bug 1695934] [NEW] no information about snap updates

2017-06-05 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

As far as I know, updates of snap packages are done automatically.

Unfortunately there is no transparent way of knowing when updates took place.
Snapd reports the most recent updates using the 'snap changes' command, but the
output does only show updates since the start of snapd.

I expected that there is an refresh log available, similar to the apt
update log in /var/log/apt...

It even works when I use an unencrypted connection.

This is why I first tought of a certificate issue in the first place.

2015-12-06 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

I'm trying to access my owncloud hosted on my private NAS.

WHAT I EXPECT:
I can accept the certificate and access my OwnCloud.

WHAT HAPPENS:
I cannot access my OwnCloud.
It shows the login prompt, but doesn't allow me to log in.
As if the login button doesn't work.

** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1447337] Re: Bluetooth: Music is mute after received call

2015-12-06 Thread Laryllan
Hi Jim,

when not connected to a bluetooth speaker, music is resumed as expected.

But this is strange:
(I tried connected to my Jambox again.)
When I end the call using the Bluetooth remote, music is not resumed.
When I use the phone to end the call, music is resumed normally.

?

I don't think the display is a non-essential hardware component.
In fact, it is THE most important hardware a laptop/netbook can offer. Or do
you think your computer is usable without a display?

This is a regression to previous Ubuntu releases.

[Bug 958389] Re: brightness not work correctly on eee pc

2013-05-20 Thread Laryllan
I have the same problem on an eeePC 1215N, Ubuntu 13.04 32 bits.

I found a workaround to get maximum brightness back:
sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=ff

It resets the maximum brightness to maximum.
If it does not work for you, try another PCI device (find the adress with
lspci), like
sudo setpci -s 00:02.1 f4.b=ff

[Bug 1092810] [NEW] USC performance bad

2012-12-20 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

On my computer the Ubuntu Software Center is far from usable.

It takes about 30 seconds until i can something into the search window.
In this time, the contents of the GUI are redrawn three times.

Installing commercial games like the ones from the Humble Indie Bundles
takes a huge amount of time, in which the computer is barely usable at
all. After minutes of waiting it is now clear if there is something
installed at all.

I have to wait for about 30 seconds to get a result from a search while
installing any software.

The time I have to wait is highest whenever I try to install a
downloaded .deb - it often takes minutes even for a small 20kb program.

USC is much slower when there are other programs (Firefox, Thunderbird e.g.)
running too.
CPU is going nuts.

I expect the USC to perform as fast a synaptic does when installing software.
Not to mention gdebi for pre-downloaded packages.

I hope this issue will be resolved in the future.

[Bug 1017097] [NEW] Ubuntu does not warn of degraded software raid

2012-06-24 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

I'm using a software raid5 with three disks as /home.

Before migrating to a software raid I had faulty hard disks and was warned by a
popup after login.
Now, using the raid, there is no warning of any degraded status.

My expectation is that the system tells me that the raid is degraded.
Either by a notification after login or any other means that doesn't involve
sending a mail.

Actually I don't know if the gnome-disk-utility is the correct package.
I don't know either if failure warings of single HDDs work in Ubuntu at all any
more.
My expertise is from past versions of Ubuntu.

[Bug 958496] [NEW] Suspend does not work on Lenovo S12

2012-03-18 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04beta suspend does not work
anymore.

The netbook switches off for a split second but wakes up right away.
I did alle the tests described: in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume

Find the output attached.

I'll gladly provide any information as needed, just tell me what you
want to know.

Suspend/Resume was working flawlessly on 11.10, so this is regression.

Yours,
Ingo

[Bug 874073] Re: pop-up notification hides when mouse reaches it

2011-10-22 Thread Laryllan
This is actually no bug, it'a feature.

These popups are not designed to interact with them, but to just inform you.
It's a design decision the Ubuntu guys took which will not be changed.

They are designed to not be in the way. This is why the notification hides as
soon as you move the mouse over it.
You may have noticed that you can interact with anything below the popup.

Cheers,
Laryllan

[Bug 858463] Re: open folder opens totem video player

I have the same issue and I tries to hint down the source of this.

Is there a way to set the default action for these folders in the Unity

- Downloads
- Trash
- USB drives

I noticed that these are the folders excluded in the Deja Dup backup tool.
May there be a connection?

[Bug 853056] Re: Cannot select ICC profile

2011-10-13 Thread Laryllan
I believe this will not be fixed any time soon, as it's not a fault in Ubuntu.
The new Gnome 3 settings don't provide this functionality as of now.

As a workaround, you can do the following:
1. install argyll color management suite
2. create a file containing the following:
#!/bin/bash
dispwin /path/to/your/icc/profile.icc
3. make the file executable
4. add the newly created skript to your start programs

[Bug 853056] [NEW] Cannot select ICC profile

2011-09-18 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

I installed gnome-color manager and started it using the icon shown in system
settings.
I am told that there are no devices found supporting color management.

What I would expect is:
A dialog where I can import an ICC profile and apply it to my display.

Recently I found that I can import ICC profiles using the command line
tool gcm-viewer, but even using this tool I cannot apply any profile to
my display.

The gnome-color-manager up to 11.04 did exactly what I wanted.

[Bug 804388] [NEW] A credit card is needed to pay in Ubuntu Software Center (Germany)

2011-07-01 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

To buy software in the Ubuntu Software Center you need to have a credit
card.

As of now, credit cards are not wide spread in Germany at least.
A huge portion of users is therefore not able to buy in USC without applying
for a credit card first.
Canonical and Ubuntu are loosing bucks here!

Most online shops in Germany offer to pay by debit transfer, where money
is transferred from a standard bank account.

A possible sollution is allowing payments with services like
https://payments.amazon.de/home or http://www.paypal.com where you pay
with your bank account data. This may be possible in other countries
too.

[Bug 804388] Re: A credit card is needed to pay in Ubuntu Software Center (Germany)

2011-07-01 Thread Laryllan
** Description changed:

To buy software in the Ubuntu Software Center you need to have a credit
  card.

As of now, credit cards are not wide spread in Germany at least.
A huge portion of users is therefore not able to buy in USC without applying
for a credit card first.
Canonical and Ubuntu are loosing bucks here!

Most online shops in Germany offer to pay by debit transfer, where money
is transferred from a standard bank account.

A possible sollution is allowing payments with services like
- https://payments.amazon.de/home where you pay with your amazon.de bank
- account data. This may be possible in other countries too.
+ https://payments.amazon.de/home or http://www.paypal.com where you pay
+ with your bank account data. This may be possible in other countries
+ too.

[Bug 783121] [NEW] Suspend/Hibernate not working / was flawless in 10.10

2011-05-15 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to 11.04 (from 10.10) neither suspend nor hibernate are
working any more.

The system just doesn't power down, i.e. power LED is ON, fans are rotating and
the monitor doesn't power off.
At that stage no input is possible any more, keyboard and mouse are non
functional.
I have to reset or shutdown the computer with the hard keys.
After booting, the sound card (Soundblaster Audigy) is muted. (when booting
from powered off state it isn't muted).

I tried to do some self-debugging using the guidelines I found here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume
Following the instructions, I found that neither suspending nor hibernating
from text mode shows anything on the screen.
Using the instructions for per-subsystem hibernate testing I was able to gather
some info.
Find it attached to this bug report.

As suspend/hibernate worked in 10.10, this is a regression.

Please help.
I'll gladly submit further information if needed.

[Bug 767040] [NEW] Firefox 4 doesn't use Unity scrollbars

2011-04-20 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

The Firefox 4 browser in 11.04 doesn't use Unitys scrollbars (the light ones
with the up/down button showing as soon as you move the mouse pointer over it).
Instead, it uses standard scrollbars.

I believe this is an inconsistency in the UI, as other programs (e.g.
Nautilus) show them correctly.

[Bug 763759] [NEW] Unity dash doesn't minimize

2011-04-17 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The Unity dash doesn't minimize open programs.

Try for yourself:
1. Open Firefox using the dash on the left hand side of the screen by clicking
on it again
2. Click the Firefox icon again.
Nothing will happen.

I believe this is huge usability setback, as I expect at least _something_ to
happen when I click on the programs icon again.
It simply should minimize like in the default gnome interface lower panel.

This is regression.

Thanks for your time,
please consider this.

[Bug 751498] [NEW] Unity doesn't apply mouse cursor change (compiz)

2011-04-05 Thread Laryllan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

When changing the mouse cursor (like the one from the oxygen-cursor-theme

Other programs i.e. Firefox or Synaptic show the cursor correctly.

[Bug 367306] Re: Weaker connection quality than in hardy (ralink 2561 - drinver rt61pci)

2010-08-24 Thread Laryllan
Sorry for the late reply, I had to install the rt61pci card again.

It seems the problems are gone. I get good and stable speed.

[Bug 543767] Re: ssh logins doesn't show the MOTD when connecting with public key authorisation

2010-06-03 Thread Laryllan
Selecting 'PrintMotd yes' has no effect, I tried that already.

Choosing 'UsePAM yes' shows the Motd.

But: I don't want to allow logins using a simple password, but want to make
sure the exchange of keys is used.
Can you (or anybody else) confirm that every user _has_ to have the key?

[Bug 564984] Re: r8169 fails to autonegotiate speed/duplex

2010-05-05 Thread Laryllan
I know it worked until Lucid Beta-2.
In Ubuntu 9.10 it's working fine too.

And it works when I use another end point. I have two routers, both
Linksys models. One is capable of 1 Gb/s (WRT610N), the other 100 Mb/s
(WRT160NL). Just the one with the 100 Mb/s link fails, on the other
autonegotiation is working flawlessly.

Don't know if this info helps in any way, just wanted to point it out.

It actually did work in Lucid too, but was broken by some upgraded packages.
Not being able to tell you more - because of lack of knowledge - makes me sad.
:(

Please fix this...
