[Bug 1961429] Re: ACPI BIOS Error: problem loading UEFI X.509 certificate

2022-02-20 Thread Lex Ross
Attached is DSDT dump produced by SSDTTime utility
(https://github.com/corpnewt/SSDTTime). I then decompiled the file with
"iasl " command.

It turns out that _SB.PCI0 and _SB.PC00.DGPV are missing. And it worth
mentioning that the brightness control hot keys are not functioning
(producing no ACPI events and no codes).

[Bug 1961523] [NEW] Removable media is separarted from nautilus

2022-02-20 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Upon opening inserted USB stick with nautilis using notification window
or directly in nautilus window the dot in the dock appears next to the
USB stick icon and not the file manager icon. This is different from
default GNOME behaviour that displays the dot next to the file manager
icon regardless of the location opened.

For one thing, to have a dot next to USB device is good in terms that it
indicates clearly that the device is mounted. On the other hand, this is
very confusing as the dot jumps from file manager icon to the USB stick
icon in the dock back and forth simply by changing location in the same
nautilus window. The very first time that happened I just lost my
nautilus window with the USB stick location opened and could not find it
until I hit the Super key to call the Activities menu.

It took me a while to figure out that my nautilus window had been
detached from file manager and re-attached to the USB stick icon in the
dock.

Since it is the nautilus process owning the removable media, and the
window the user interacts with belongs to nautilus app, I would expect
the dock to comply with the GNOME behaviour and to display the dots
corresponding to nautilus windows next to the file manager icon, and not
jump them around.

2022-02-18 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Right-clicking on nautilus pinned to the dock displays nautilus bookmars
shall at least one nautilus window is open. This is very convenient and
is expected behaviour from Unity dock.

[Bug 1961452] [NEW] [Wayland] Super + nubmer doesn't switch windows

2022-02-18 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

In Wayland session using Super+ number key does not switch to the window
if the app is not pinned to the dock. Espetially when the Settings is
unpinned and is being launched as well as GNOME Terminal. It mostly
affects the Super+8 and Super+9. Even the Trash can be affected by this.

Under X.org session everything works fine. Except that the numbers are
not displayed on holding the Super key and aren't displayed properly no
matter what the session is, X.org or Wayland.

[Bug 1961432] [NEW] Upgrading from 21.10 to 22.04 fails to upgrade snap core18

2022-02-18 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

While upgrading from 21.10 (Impish) to 22.04 (Jammy) an error message
pops up:

When upgrade is complete the "snap list" command produces the output
which includes the following old packages:

[Bug 1959996] [NEW] Nvidia C67 GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M artifacts

2022-02-03 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Starting Ubuntu 18.04 LTS the only available option for Nvidia GeForce
7000M/nForce 610M is nouveau driver. "ubuntu-drivers list" returns an
empty string.

The nouveau driver however does not work. While DRM freezes of Ubuntu
18.04 seem to be fixed, the 3D graphics is still slow and, there are
multiple video artifacts in the background.

Either proper Nvidia proprietary driver should be provided for this
card, or nouveau driver is fixed. This bug affects 20.04 LTS and later
Ubuntu releases as well as 22.04 LTS.

[Bug 1948505] [NEW] Screen Brightness keys do not work on Lenovo IdeaPad 3

[Bug 1568410] Re: Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file

2016-04-11 Thread Lex Ross
Thank you Sebastien for pointing this out. My understanding is that as
of now the old version of nautilus is paired with new GNOME desktop,
making this bug specific to Ubuntu. There is no problem with native
GNOME desktop or the Ubuntu 14.04 so I am not sure what upstream is
supposed to work on. I'm afraid that mixing GNOME software is specific
to Ubuntu, and the bug is the result of that integration. Correct me if
I'm wrong. Anyway, the upstream bug report follows:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764891

Thank you for your time an co-operation. And, is there a way to
integrate the two bug report systems I wonder so that to make it a sort
of "Report to Bugzilla" button for Launchpad bugs?

[Bug 1568410] [NEW] Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file

2016-04-09 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

When double-clicking a .desktop file in nautilus, bogus file briefly
appear and the original .desktop file "jerks" because of that. This
behaviour is quite annoying. Try unpacking tor browser bundle for
instance, navigate to tor-browser-en-US directory in nautilus and
double-click Tor Browser icon (the .desktop file). The file briefly
appears, marked as no read/write access (the little lock and cross icons
attached). I could not catch it with screen capture to see what it was
but you could see it for yourself. I believe that this is a temp file.
To verify, follow the steps below.

1. Make sure nautilus is configured to hide hidden files and that you can
reproduce the bug as has been described to this point
2. Leave nautilus window open, launch terminal and create a file named .HIDDEN
in tor-browser-en-US directory (the directory active in nautilus)
3. Double-click Tor Browser icon once again in nautilus

Now you should be able to see the file in question and look up its
properties in nautilus (see attached screen shot)

4. Return to the terminal and run 'ls -la' command to see that the file isn't
really present in the directory.
5. Refresh nautilus window with F5 button to return to normal

I believe this behaviour in nautilus is wrong but have no idea how to
fix it. Any idea?

[Bug 1487859] [NEW] MPEG4 .ts files are recognized as text/vnd.trolltech.linguist and .dvr files as video/mpeg

2015-08-23 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

I record DVBT2 TV shows as a set of two files, one is the .ts MPEG4
transport stream and the other is .dvr binary file containing EPG
program description. On my Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS desktop those are
recognized as follows.

In Nautilus, .ts files are always mapped to text/vnd.trolltech.linguist
file(1) command reports them as either FoxPro FPT or data files

Nevertheless those .ts files are being played correctly when dropped
into Totem window.

Program description .dvr files are mapped to video/mpeg in Nautilus,
while file(1) command reports them as MPEG sequence, v2, program
multiplex. The only exception is info.dvr file not specific to any
program and used by the TV set, which is mapped correctly to application
/octet-stream in Nautilus and is reported as data by file(1) command.

Attached are the samples of the problematic files recorded by the TV
set.

[Bug 859539] Re: usb-creator-gtk fails to install bootloader: "System policy prevents installing the bootloader"

2015-08-06 Thread Lex Ross
Same thing on 14.04.2. Upon entering admin user password the script
fails with the error message, 'Failed to install boot loader' and quits.
In fact, it's getting even worse as on top of it the script now fails to
erase the USB stick as well with the error message:

org.freedesktop.DBus.Python.gi._glib.GError: Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/dbus/service.py", line 707, in
_message_cb
retval = candidate_method(self, *args, **keywords)
File "/usr/share/usb-creator/usb-creator-helper", line 239, in Format
block.call_format_sync('vfat', GLib.Variant('a{sv}', {'label':
GLib.Variant('s', '')}), None)
gi._glib.GError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.Failed: Error
synchronizing after initial wipe: Timed out waiting for object

and from that point on the erasing takes forever. Not only that but when
I finally close the USB Stick creator window, I am left with the USB
stick labelled with the chosen distribution name, and appropriate files
appear to be copied over. This is very confusing, given the instructions
on official Ubuntu site claim the process of making the bootable stick
is straightforward and is easy.

[Bug 1314967] [NEW] Thunderbird entry persist in indicator-messages menu with no email account configured

2014-05-01 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

On Thunderbird startup the Thunderbird menu entry was created within
indicator-messages notification envelop even though I had closed the
Thunderbird application right off without configuring any email
accounts. It turned out that thunderbird had created a new user
regardless so I went off and removed the entire ~/.thunderbird directory
as well as ~/.cache/thunderbird and restarted the indicator-messages-
service. The thunderbird entry still persist in the menu with no
apparent way to remove it from there. Logging off and back on does not
help. I conclude that this must be a bug displaying the menu entry for
application that is not being set up. In particular, there should be no
Thunderbird entry in the indicator-messages menu provided there is no
~/.thunderbird/ directory exists. At the very minimum
there should be a per user configuration file to alter the menu entries
manually. And perhaps right clickable menu entries to choose an action.
At least some way to remove entries that should not be there.

[Bug 1295526] [NEW] "disable touchpad while typing" doesn't work

2014-03-20 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

"Disable touchpad while typing" checkbox in System Settings does not
work on my Asus F5N laptop. The button to disable touchpad does not work
as well. As a workaround I use "syndaemon -i 1 -K -d" command as per
Ubuntu help page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad/
but it does not fix the issue with the said chechbox and hardware
button. I guess it still needs to access shared memory using SHMconfig
option in xorg.conf in which case it is the same bug that has been
around for 3 years starting from Ubuntu 11.10

[Bug 1152179] [NEW] Ambiguous ON/OFF switch graphics in Ubuntu GUI

2013-03-07 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

As of Ubuntu 12.10 and up, ambiguous graphics is being used for ON/OFF
type of switches. For one thing, the I/O symbol next to the slider
indicates the position the switch is currently in. On another hand, when
compared to the hardware switch the symbol next to the slider implies
the position the slider can be moved to. Meaning that the current slider
posion is an exact opposite to what the I/O symbol indicates.

In other words, the ON position can be easily confused with OFF position
based on real world experience with hardware electric switches. I found
out that some users were totally confused on their first experience with
this design.

[Bug 199687] Re: [Intrepid] [Hardy] Asus F5N laptop freezes on restart but will shut down

2013-02-27 Thread Lex Ross
At last, four years down the road, the kernels 3.8.0-6 and 3.8.0-7 have the
reboot issue fixed. No more quirks to be applied.
Just FYI, the fix described by sokai did help with Ubuntu 11.xx but would not
help with Ubuntu 12.xx versions. Still, many thanks to sokai and others who had
contributed.

[Bug 1107162] Re: No pop-up dialogue nor USB disk auto mount on device plugged in

2013-01-28 Thread Lex Ross
Okay, I've installed linux-image-3.2.0-37 package and booted into that
kernel. What used to work with that kernel in 12.04 is now broken in
12.10 and 13.04. So the problem is not the kernel. See attached
3.2.0-kernel.log which confirms that USB devices are attached with no
error messages. It may be Ubuntu's tempering with Nautilus or other
components of the system. I would really appretiate it if someone could
reproduce this bug on their system to help us hunting it down.

The very first time i had encountered that problem was when I installed
12.10 with 3.5 kernel. There was no issue with 12.04 and prior versions
but I cannot remember what kernel version this distribution was using.
Thought it was 3.2 kernel. Would try that and tell you the results.

[Bug 1107162] Re: No pop-up dialogue nor USB disk auto mount on device plugged in

2013-01-28 Thread Lex Ross
There was no issue prior to Ubuntu 12.10 shipped with 3.5 kernel. Come
to think of it, I am not quite sure the kernel itself is a problem, as
devices are properly recognized and are connected as per attached
kernel.log

Furthermore, the kernel makes devices visible in "Devices" application,
and those can be mounted from there. Can very well be udev or Gnome
issue. Please advise.

[Bug 1107162] [NEW] No pop-up dialogue nor USB disk auto mount on device plugged in

2013-01-27 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

When attaching a USB stick or a gadget in storage mode, there is no
dialogue popping up nor the disk is auto mounted. External storage does
not appear in Nautilus. Need to launch disk utility and mount the drives
from there. Devices with multiple drives on the same USB port are
particularily affected. Those like phones and electronic readers which
happen to have both built-in memory and the storage card available upon
connect. USB sticks with more than one partition on them are also
affected.

[Bug 1019340] Re: GPU Lockup. Xorg? nouveau?

2012-11-03 Thread Lex Ross
I've got the same graphics card, and am getting GPU lockups whenever 3D
is involved (Unity desktop). Screen glitches while logging in for once.
Internal error reports on launching Software Centre or Printers settings
menu. Bringing up the Dash breaks it to the point where I have to re-
login. Launching LibreOffice causes graphics distortion, windows go
blank, including other open apps, global menu disappearing and so forth.
This is in 12.10 64-bit Ubuntu. Never had a chance to test it in 12.04
as Nvidia proprietary driver was offered by default.

On a side note, I can see that Xorg is not properly configured, as it
tries to load nvidia module first, then nv module, and finally falls
back to nouveau module as the other two are not available.

[Bug 816669] Re: encrypted-home support in new user dialog

2012-11-02 Thread Lex Ross
The problem still exisy in Precise. I'd say don't bother with swap
encryption and hybernation related issues, as it is way too complicated.
After all, what we do here is create a new user and it's home directory
if required. There is no need to look beyond this, and any provisions
beyond user home encryption are inappropriate and are not expected,
really. All we need is normal gnome-system-tools functionality.

[Bug 580398] Re: ath5k gain calibration timeout when watching flash video

2012-08-16 Thread Lex Ross
I don't think it is Flash related issue. I have the same problem on x64 11.10
and 12.04 up to the recent kernel 3.2.0-29
In my case, the bug causes intermittent and weak signal to be received even in
the close proximity of an access point, and slow wireless connection. Then in
about an hour or so the wireless connection is broken and there is no way to
reconnect to the access point until reboot. I get the following error messages
from ath5k:

[Bug 926127] [NEW] specto fails to detect network connection

2012-02-03 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Specto 0.3.1 fails to detect either wired nor wireless connection on my laptop,
resulting in an error message in Notifications window status bar:
"hh:mm - The network connection seems to be down, network watches will not
check until then."

Here is the output of "ifconfig -a" command. I use wireless connection
on my laptop, and if I plug in the cable to eth0 it makes no difference
to specto.

[Bug 921145] [NEW] Brasero: no way to change default destination when creating disk image

2012-01-24 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

When burning a project to an image file on disk, there is no way to change
default destination path. It is always set to $HOME/brasero.iso for data
project, $HOME/brasero.cue for audio project etc.

There simply may be no room under user home directory or the user may prefer to
change the default destination path for one reason or another. It is pretty
standard for an application to allow the user to choose destination for the
resulting output.

The same applies to the working temporary directory which defaults to /tmp. I
do not have enough room in /tmp which is mounted as tmpfs on my system, and
have no good reason to grow its size. While default temporary dir can be easily
changed using gconf-editor, this is not user friendly. Some sort of preferences
dialogue would be useful in this case.

[Bug 920917] [NEW] [RU] indicator-weather "Forecast..." menu item is not translated into Russian

2012-01-24 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

The "Forecast..." menu item of indicator-weather is not translated into
Russian. It has proper translation on Launchpad, but that translation
did not propogate into the actual application.

Then, when picking up forecast for Moscow, Russia, I get an error message:
"Unknown error occured while picking up weather data"
There seems to be no way to translate that message using launchpad and other
translation tools commonly used on Python applications.

[Bug 919061] Re: indicator-weather forecast fails with the message Unknown error occured while picking up weather data

2012-01-24 Thread Lex Ross
Vadim, thank you very much for your prompt reply. Yes I can confirm that
this bug is reproducable, and I have it for the past 5 months or so.
Please note that I am using Yahoo! weather service, and get the same
error message. The latest version from PPA is also affected.

If you on the other hand can go back 6 or 7 months, then the old PPA
version should not have this bug. It broke somewhere down the road for
some reason. Chances are the code from the old version can shed some
light on it.

[Bug 919061] [NEW] indicator-weather forecast fails with the message Unknown error occured while picking up weather data

2012-01-19 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Indicator-weather applet 11.05.31 fails to fetch forecast for Moscow,
Russia with the error mesage "Unknown error occured while picking up
weather data" no matter which service (Google or Yahoo!) is selected.
Early versions from PPA did not have this problem. It broke somewhere
down the road and had not been fixed since. Forecast for Toronto,
Ontario works fine. Other locations may be affected.

[Bug 571682] Re: mountall fails to mount encrypted /tmp and swap

2011-12-26 Thread Lex Ross
The bug is still present in Oneiric 11.10
And if I only have my swap partition encrypted and not the /tmp the boot
process takes way too long with the final message of

The disk drive for swap is not ready yet or not present.
Continue to wait; or Press S to skip mount or M for manual recover

The boot process then continues regardless of whether or not I press S or M key.
And when the system is fully booted, the swap partition is listed as properly
activated.

[Bug 859539] Re: usb-creator-gtk fails to install bootloader: "System policy prevents installing the bootloader"

Thank you Brian for pointing this out. Using the "usb-creator-gtk

Still, I was prompted for password 3 times in the process which is a bit
too much I believe. And since usb-creator is crucial for netbook owners
it is better to fixed soon.

[Bug 846873] [NEW] Evince: Invisible text in PDF file

2011-09-11 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Certain format produces transparent text when viewing PDF on the screen.
The text remains invisible even if formatted. The only way to get to see
that text is to copy-paste it blindly into the text editor or the
terminal. To reproduce, see for instance an O'Relly Book "Running Linux
4th Edition" which is available for download free of charge and is
attached to this bug report for your convenience.

Scroll down to any page containing commands to be entered into the
terminal on the command line. Any text after the command prompt is
invisible. For instance, at the bottom of page 58 the "fdisk" command
does not appear after the # (root prompt) on the command line.
"swapon"command cannot be seen at the bottom of page 62 and so forth.

[Bug 810883] [NEW] [Natty] Generating grub.cfg takes way too long

2011-07-14 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Ever since updating to 11.04 (Natty) update-grub takes 10-12 minutes to
generate grub.cfg
In fact, I had aborted my first attempt to upgrade the system thinking that it
had failed at that point.

To date, I am using 64-bit kernel 2.6.38-8-generic and grub-probe
version 1.99~rc1-13ubuntu3 and I can see exact the same problem on each
kernel upgrade. The reason is a mystery to me as the upgrade log comes
clean like this,

run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools 2.6.38-10-generic
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-10-generic
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common 2.6.38-10-generic
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-10-generic
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/pm-utils 2.6.38-10-generic

run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/update-notifier 2.6.38-10-generic
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-10-generic
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub 2.6.38-10-generic
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-10-generic
Generating grub.cfg ...

Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-8-generic
Found memtest86+ image: /memtest86+.bin

It's just a long wait (10-12 minutes) after "Generating grub.cfg ..."
message, as if update-grub would have froze.

** Description changed:

Ever since updating to 11.04 (Natty) update-grub takes 10-12 minutes to
generate grub.cfg
In fact, I had aborted my first attempt to upgrade the system thinking that
it had failed at that point.

To date, I am using 64-bit kernel 2.6.38-8-generic and grub-probe
version 1.99~rc1-13ubuntu3 and I can see exact the same problem on each
- kernel update. The reason is a mystery to me as the update log come
+ kernel upgrade. The reason is a mystery to me as the upgrade log come
  clean like this,

  run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools 2.6.38-10-generic

It's just a long wait (10-12 minutes) after "Generating grub.cfg ..." message.
In fact, it takes so long that I had aborted my first installation on Natty
thinking it had failed at this point.

[Bug 200130] Re: Fix sound on nVidia GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M chipset (Asus F5N, Acer Aspire 4250)

2011-07-14 Thread Lex Ross
Fair enough. The only problem with this kind of attitude is that no
hardware is likely to be Ubuntu certified. I've seen an HP laptop
bearing Ubuntu Certified logo 2 years ago. Not any longer. And for the
good reason. The fact that pre-installed (or older) system works just
fine does not mean it will continue to work after upgrade. In fact, I
can see more and more regressions with every new release. And then the
hardware is no longer supported. What's even worse, is that in most
cases hardware issues are kernel related so it is not Ubuntu's fault but
is perceived so. Not sure how to address this. Anyhow, many thanks to
those trying their best to resolve the sound issue for the past 3 years,
keep up the good work.

[Bug 795052] Re: Laguage indicator not changing when switching language using keyboard in Firefox

2011-06-14 Thread Lex Ross
Dear Gunnar,

Thank you very much for pointing that out. I double checked with Unity,
Classic Desktop and Classic with no effects, and it sounds that Compiz
is the source of the problem. Unity and Classic desktops had exactly the
same problem described in the original report. The Classic session with
no effects (no compositing) worked correctly. You can award me a
diploma in stupidity for not figuring that out in the first place, but
then again two heads are better than one.

Do you have any idea on how compositing could possibly confuse the
language-selector and what can be done about it given the scope of
Compiz project? Thank you very much for your time and co-operation. The
bug is very annoying as I start typing in the wrong language all the
time despite having ScrollLock LED indicating the correct layout.

[Bug 795052] [NEW] Laguage indicator not changing when switching language using keyboard in Firefox

2011-06-09 Thread Lex Ross
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: language-selector

When switching the language using keyboard short cut the indicator in
the notification area does not reflect it sometimes. I use Scroll Lock
LED as my backup indicator, and it always works fine.

What I have configured is,

- separate keyboard layout for each window
- toggle between two layouts using Right Alt
- use Scroll Lock LED to indicate alternative layout

Steps to reproduce with Firefox 4.

1. Open web page in Firefox
2. Click on a link that pops up a new window. Alternately, right-click on a
link and choose to open it in a new window
3. When new window pops up and is fully loaded, use keyboard short cut to
switch the layout
4. You should observe the LED indicating the layout has indeed been switched
while indicator in the notification area remains unchanged, now indicating the
wrong layout
5. You can type in some text into the window you have opened in step 2 to
confirm
6. Close the window you have opened in step 2, which should make the window
opened in step 1 active
7. We now expect the layout to return back to original one, used for that
window from step 1; however, the layout does not change automatically. We still
have keyboard layout and panel indicator mismatch.

I came across this problem specifically with Firefox. If anyone can
confirm this bug with other apps please speak up.

[Bug 751175] Re: Time and Date Settings don't load (Natty Beta 1)

2011-04-18 Thread Lex Ross
I have the same problem with zombie process. Each time I close the Date
& Time preferences dialogue I end up with the process blocking the
subsequent opening of Date & Time preferences.

$ ps ax | grep indicator-datetime-preferences
 2007 ?Sl 0:00 indicator-datetime-preferences

I have to kill that process whenever I need to launch Date & Time
preferences, otherwise it fails with the message

(indicator-datetime-preferences:5032): Unique-DBus-WARNING **: Error
while sending message: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include:
the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security
policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network
connection was broken.

The important thing is, that I only get this problem when using clock
applet Date and Time preferences. If I use Unity launcher or the
terminal, everything is working fine.

Confirmed. The driver is absent as of kernel 2.6.38-8-generic on 64-bit

webcam on my Asus F5N laptop.

[Bug 199687] Re: [Intrepid] [Hardy] Asus F5N laptop freezes on restart but will shut down

2011-04-18 Thread Lex Ross
The problem continues into Natty 64-bit kernel 2.6.38-8-generic
Hardware specific kernel issues are never fixed as I can observe from several
cases, with video adapters being the only exception.
Having said that, the BIOS on Asus laptops is far from being perfect either.
Not sure how to go about it.

[Bug 269123] Re: stkwebcam kernel-module doesn't support all the webcams supported previously with stk11

2011-04-08 Thread Lex Ross
Very nice indeed. The problem still exists in 10.10 (Maverick) with kernel
versions up to 2.6.35-28
More than two years with no video calls! Is there a problem to include stk11
driver with the new kernel release?
I was able to compile and install the driver at some point but then having to
recompile it after each kernel update is a royal pain in the arse. Is there a
chance that upstream developers aren't even aware of this bug report?

[Bug 362152] Re: Network Manager was unable to connect to a WLAN with a hidden SSID

2011-02-01 Thread Lex Ross
Thank you, Mathieu. I thought of re-assigning this bug to linux package
too, just could not figure out how to do it right. Having said that, it
was Network Manager that originally failed to connect to hidden SSID at
all, and I believe that this issue has been corrected in Network
Manager, so it is now should be pure driver/kernel issue.

'sudo lspci -vnvn' command gives me this when I search for "Network":
5:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless
Network Adapter [168c:001c] (rev 01)

It does not say iwlang anywhere in its output. I am a bit confused here
as to which driver my system is using.

Thanks again for your time and co-operation.
