[Bug 1961429] Re: ACPI BIOS Error: problem loading UEFI X.509 certificate
Attached is DSDT dump produced by SSDTTime utility (https://github.com/corpnewt/SSDTTime). I then decompiled the file with "iasl " command. It turns out that _SB.PCI0 and _SB.PC00.DGPV are missing. And it worth mentioning that the brightness control hot keys are not functioning (producing no ACPI events and no codes). ** Attachment added: "SSDTTime ACPI dump" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1961429/+attachment/5562330/+files/DSDT.aml -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1961429 Title: ACPI BIOS Error: problem loading UEFI X.509 certificate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1961429/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1961523] [NEW] Removable media is separarted from nautilus
Public bug reported: Upon opening inserted USB stick with nautilis using notification window or directly in nautilus window the dot in the dock appears next to the USB stick icon and not the file manager icon. This is different from default GNOME behaviour that displays the dot next to the file manager icon regardless of the location opened. For one thing, to have a dot next to USB device is good in terms that it indicates clearly that the device is mounted. On the other hand, this is very confusing as the dot jumps from file manager icon to the USB stick icon in the dock back and forth simply by changing location in the same nautilus window. The very first time that happened I just lost my nautilus window with the USB stick location opened and could not find it until I hit the Super key to call the Activities menu. It took me a while to figure out that my nautilus window had been detached from file manager and re-attached to the USB stick icon in the dock. Since it is the nautilus process owning the removable media, and the window the user interacts with belongs to nautilus app, I would expect the dock to comply with the GNOME behaviour and to display the dots corresponding to nautilus windows next to the file manager icon, and not jump them around. Public bug reported: Right-clicking on nautilus pinned to the dock displays nautilus bookmars shall at least one nautilus window is open. [Bug 1961452] [NEW] [Wayland] Super + nubmer doesn't switch windows
Public bug reported: In Wayland session using Super+ number key does not switch to the window if the app is not pinned to the dock. Espetially when the Settings is unpinned and is being launched as well as GNOME Terminal. It mostly affects the Super+8 and Super+9. Even the Trash can be affected by this. [Bug 1959996] [NEW] Nvidia C67 GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M artifacts
Public bug reported: Starting Ubuntu 18.04 LTS the only available option for Nvidia GeForce 7000M/nForce 610M is nouveau driver. "ubuntu-drivers list" returns an empty string. [Bug 1568410] Re: Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file
Thank you Sebastien for pointing this out. My understanding is that as of now the old version of nautilus is paired with new GNOME desktop, making this bug specific to Ubuntu. There is no problem with native GNOME desktop or the Ubuntu 14.04 so I am not sure what upstream is supposed to work on. I'm afraid that mixing GNOME software is specific to Ubuntu, and the bug is the result of that integration. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, the upstream bug report follows: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764891 Thank you for your time an co-operation. And, is there a way to integrate the two bug report systems I wonder so that to make it a sort of "Report to Bugzilla" button for Launchpad bugs? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #764891 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764891 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568410 Title: Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1568410/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1568410] [NEW] Double-clicking .desktop file makes nautilus show bogus file
Public bug reported: When double-clicking a .desktop file in nautilus, bogus file briefly appear and the original .desktop file "jerks" because of that. This behaviour is quite annoying. Try unpacking tor browser bundle for instance, navigate to tor-browser-en-US directory in nautilus and double-click Tor Browser icon (the .desktop file). The file briefly appears, marked as no read/write access (the little lock and cross icons attached). I could not catch it with screen capture to see what it was but you could see it for yourself. I believe that this is a temp file. To verify, follow the steps below. 1. Make sure nautilus is configured to hide hidden files and that you can reproduce the bug as has been described to this point 2. Leave nautilus window open, launch terminal and create a file named .HIDDEN in tor-browser-en-US directory (the directory active in nautilus) 3. Double-click Tor Browser icon once again in nautilus Now you should be able to see the file in question and look up its properties in nautilus (see attached screen shot) 4. Return to the terminal and run 'ls -la' command to see that the file isn't really present in the directory. 5. Refresh nautilus window with F5 button to return to normal I believe this behaviour in nautilus is wrong but have no idea how to fix it. Any idea? [Bug 1487859] [NEW] MPEG4 .ts files are recognized as text/vnd.trolltech.linguist and .dvr files as video/mpeg
Public bug reported: I record DVBT2 TV shows as a set of two files, one is the .ts MPEG4 transport stream and the other is .dvr binary file containing EPG program description. Program description .dvr files are mapped to video/mpeg in Nautilus, while file(1) command reports them as MPEG sequence, v2, program multiplex. [Bug 859539] Re: usb-creator-gtk fails to install bootloader: "System policy prevents installing the bootloader"
Same thing on 14.04.2. Upon entering admin user password the script fails with the error message, 'Failed to install boot loader' and quits. In fact, it's getting even worse as on top of it the script now fails to erase the USB stick as well with the error message: org.freedesktop.DBus.Python.gi._glib.GError: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/dbus/service.py", line 707, in _message_cb retval = candidate_method(self, *args, **keywords) File "/usr/share/usb-creator/usb-creator-helper", line 239, in Format block.call_format_sync('vfat', GLib.Variant('a{sv}', {'label': GLib.Variant('s', '')}), None) gi._glib.GError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.Failed: Error synchronizing after initial wipe: Timed out waiting for object and from that point on the erasing takes forever. Not only that but when I finally close the USB Stick creator window, I am left with the USB stick labelled with the chosen distribution name, and appropriate files appear to be copied over. Public bug reported: On Thunderbird startup the Thunderbird menu entry was created within indicator-messages notification envelop even though I had closed the Thunderbird application right off without configuring any email accounts. I conclude that this must be a bug displaying the menu entry for application that is not being set up. [Bug 1152179] [NEW] Ambiguous ON/OFF switch graphics in Ubuntu GUI
Public bug reported: As of Ubuntu 12.10 and up, ambiguous graphics is being used for ON/OFF type of switches. For one thing, the I/O symbol next to the slider indicates the position the switch is currently in. On another hand, when compared to the hardware switch the symbol next to the slider implies the position the slider can be moved to. Meaning that the current slider posion is an exact opposite to what the I/O symbol indicates. [Bug 1107162] Re: No pop-up dialogue nor USB disk auto mount on device plugged in
Okay, I've installed linux-image-3.2.0-37 package and booted into that kernel. What used to work with that kernel in 12.04 is now broken in 12.10 and 13.04. So the problem is not the kernel. See attached 3.2.0-kernel.log which confirms that USB devices are attached with no error messages. It may be Ubuntu's tempering with Nautilus or other components of the system. There was no issue prior to Ubuntu 12.10 shipped with 3.5 kernel. Come to think of it, I am not quite sure the kernel itself is a problem, as devices are properly recognized and are connected as per attached kernel.log Furthermore, the kernel makes devices visible in "Devices" application, and those can be mounted from there. [Bug 1019340] Re: GPU Lockup. Xorg? nouveau?
I've got the same graphics card, and am getting GPU lockups whenever 3D is involved (Unity desktop). Screen glitches while logging in for once. Internal error reports on launching Software Centre or Printers settings menu. Bringing up the Dash breaks it to the point where I have to re- login. Public bug reported: When burning a project to an image file on disk, there is no way to change default destination path. It is always set to $HOME/brasero.iso for data project, $HOME/brasero.cue for audio project etc. There simply may be no room under user home directory or the user may prefer to change the default destination path for one reason or another. It is pretty standard for an application to allow the user to choose destination for the resulting output. The same applies to the working temporary directory which defaults to /tmp. I do not have enough room in /tmp which is mounted as tmpfs on my system, and have no good reason to grow its size. [Bug 846873] [NEW] Evince: Invisible text in PDF file
Public bug reported: Certain format produces transparent text when viewing PDF on the screen. The text remains invisible even if formatted. The only way to get to see that text is to copy-paste it blindly into the text editor or the terminal. To reproduce, see for instance an O'Relly Book "Running Linux 4th Edition" which is available for download free of charge and is attached to this bug report for your convenience. Scroll down to any page containing commands to be entered into the terminal on the command line. Any text after the command prompt is invisible. For instance, at the bottom of page 58 the "fdisk" command does not appear after the # (root prompt) on the command line. "swapon"command cannot be seen at the bottom of page 62 and so forth. [Bug 810883] [NEW] [Natty] Generating grub.cfg takes way too long
Public bug reported: Ever since updating to 11.04 (Natty) update-grub takes 10-12 minutes to generate grub.cfg In fact, I had aborted my first attempt to upgrade the system thinking that it had failed at that point. [Bug 200130] Re: Fix sound on nVidia GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M chipset (Asus F5N, Acer Aspire 4250)
Fair enough. The only problem with this kind of attitude is that no hardware is likely to be Ubuntu certified. I've seen an HP laptop bearing Ubuntu Certified logo 2 years ago. Not any longer. And for the good reason. The fact that pre-installed (or older) system works just fine does not mean it will continue to work after upgrade. In fact, I can see more and more regressions with every new release. And then the hardware is no longer supported. What's even worse, is that in most cases hardware issues are kernel related so it is not Ubuntu's fault but is perceived so. Not sure how to address this. Anyhow, many thanks to those trying their best to resolve the sound issue for the past 3 years, keep up the good work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200130 Title: Fix sound on nVidia GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M chipset (Asus F5N, Acer Aspire 4250) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/200130/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 795052] Re: Laguage indicator not changing when switching language using keyboard in Firefox
Dear Gunnar, Thank you very much for pointing that out. I double checked with Unity, Classic Desktop and Classic with no effects, and it sounds that Compiz is the source of the problem. Unity and Classic desktops had exactly the same problem described in the original report. The Classic session with no effects (no compositing) worked correctly. You can award me a diploma in stupidity for not figuring that out in the first place, but then again two heads are better than one. Do you have any idea on how compositing could possibly confuse the language-selector and what can be done about it given the scope of Compiz project? Thank you very much for your time and co-operation. The bug is very annoying as I start typing in the wrong language all the time despite having ScrollLock LED indicating the correct layout. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/795052 Title: Laguage indicator not changing when switching language using keyboard in Firefox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/795052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 795052] [NEW] Laguage indicator not changing when switching language using keyboard in Firefox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: language-selector When switching the language using keyboard short cut the indicator in the notification area does not reflect it sometimes. I use Scroll Lock LED as my backup indicator, and it always works fine. What I have configured is, - separate keyboard layout for each window - toggle between two layouts using Right Alt - use Scroll Lock LED to indicate alternative layout Steps to reproduce with Firefox 4. 1. Open web page in Firefox 2. Click on a link that pops up a new window. Alternately, right-click on a link and choose to open it in a new window 3. When new window pops up and is fully loaded, use keyboard short cut to switch the layout 4. You should observe the LED indicating the layout has indeed been switched while indicator in the notification area remains unchanged, now indicating the wrong layout 5. You can type in some text into the window you have opened in step 2 to confirm 6. Close the window you have opened in step 2, which should make the window opened in step 1 active 7. We now expect the layout to return back to original one, used for that window from step 1; however, the layout does not change automatically. We still have keyboard layout and panel indicator mismatch. I came across this problem specifically with Firefox. If anyone can confirm this bug with other apps please speak up.
