[Bug 39376]
Just wanted to note: To unhide any of the file extensions affected by this change / Dolphin 23.08, use "File Associations" in System Settings to create a new file type for them. To the contrary, removing *.old and *.bak from the "application/x-trash" association still kept them hidden (which makes sense since the file types probably fell back to the system association, which is still "application/x-trash") Might be stating the obvious, but I think this tip might help someone stumbling into this in future. I was one of the users purposefully renaming files to end in *.bak or *.old and naturally would like to keep them visible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39376 Title: Allow hidding of backup files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kde-baseapps/+bug/39376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Welcome/Boutique already falls back to its language "de" if its locale ("de_DE") isn't available. However in this case, it does exist, but it's translations are incomplete. Each locale combination are treated as separate entities. You can force the application to use de by specifying: ubuntu-mate-welcome --locale=de I'll mark #1681041 as a duplicate of this report. I'd say a duplicate of #1681041. It's because there's two locales -- German (de, 100%) and German [Germany] (de_DE, 15%) but your system is using de_DE and translations inherit English where missing. For Welcome, these localised versions (e.g. de_DE) should probably be deprecated and stick to using a single language (de in this case) except in areas where they are differences (e.g. en_US and en_GB) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1689512 Title: Ubuntu MATE Welcome screen in English not German To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-welcome/+bug/1689512/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1582914] Re: /usr/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome:IndexError:_load_finished_cb:_push_config:populate_featured_apps
I've looked at the error's stack trace and can replicate the problem. This only occurs on arm64 systems when trying to use the Software "Boutique" facility. The affected Xenial version (16.04.9.1) does not have any software listed for arm64 hence the error, but the application doesn't crash. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1582914 Title: /usr/bin/ubuntu-mate- welcome:IndexError:_load_finished_cb:_push_config:populate_featured_apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-welcome/+bug/1582914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1681041] Re: Welcome Center ignores language selection in live cd mode
Translations for "de_DE" are incomplete (15%), but "de" is 100%. Meaning that users with the "German (Germany)" locale will see these incomplete translations. Plus, translations in the current package were last synced on 25-Mar-2017. We'll need to decide whether we would want to drop "de_DE" (German - Germany) so there's just a general "de" (German). [Bug 1658996] Re: welcome stays empty
Unfortunately, there isn't much on Welcome's end that can be done to "fix" this. This strange (and difficult to diagnose) issue is caused by external libraries failing leading to a segfault/error with the WebKitWebView process, which is responsible for rendering the window. On some other software I maintain, another user had a blank screen issue like this, but it was caused by a library named "libc". Bizarrely, the issue went away after their system (16.04) was updated. The "DPI out of range" is just a warning, this isn't the problem. [Bug 1633736] [NEW] "notify::title" signal called twice in v2.14
Public bug reported: The WebKit2GTK 2.14 (and 2.14.1) version of the library (as used in Yakkety) has introduced a bug which causes the "notify::title" signal to be called multiple times then it is necessary, posing a problem for applications that use the document's title as a bridge between JavaScript and Python. This issue is not present under 2.12 (as used in Xenial). This bug affects WebKit2 powered applications such Ubuntu MATE Welcome and Polychromatic. Downgrading 2.14 to 2.12 in Yakkety results in expected behaviour. Attached to this bug report is a Python example that reproduces this bug, which needs extracting to /tmp as it reads a basic HTML document. Under 2.12, clicking the "One", "Two", "Three" links prints "One clicked", "Two clicked", etc in the terminal once, which is the expected behaviour. Under 2.14, clicking the links prints "One clicked", but then a subsequent click on "Two" and "Three" results in "xxx clicked", a null, then "xxx clicked" again, which indicates a bug when the notify::title signal is triggered. ** Affects: ubuntu-mate-welcome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: webkit2gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: event notify title webkit2 ** Attachment added: "Example Python and HTML to reproduce bug" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633736/+attachment/4761553/+files/webkit2-notifytitle-bug.tar.gz ** Also affects: ubuntu-mate-welcome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633736 Title: "notify::title" signal called twice in v2.14 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-welcome/+bug/1633736/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for reporting back. As your report isn't specific about a problem with Welcome or Boutique (but rather, general feedback about gnome- software itself), this is not a bug that is fixed in ubuntu-mate-welcome -- the Boutique is installing software as expected. Please consider filling a new bug report for gnome-software instead. Although, software should be expected to temporarily break early in 16.10's development cycle. [Bug 1490108] Re: ubuntu-mate welcome shows steam twice
This was due to the fact there were two entries for different architectures for Steam. One for x86_64 and another for i686. Untoggling the check box caused both to appear as they both had the proprietary class. I've committed a fix to address this. https://bitbucket.org/lah7/ubuntu-mate-welcome/commits/08819c6444b62d5642c5a64f1bebef9ab3365696 ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-welcome (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Luke Horwell (lah7) ** Changed in: ubuntu-mate-welcome (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490108 Title: ubuntu-mate welcome shows steam twice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-welcome/+bug/1490108/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
