[Bug 1310373] Re: Ubiquity crashed after failed installation
I *do* know that Windows XP is not supported. That particular partition is 'left over' and is not used for over a couple of years, I guess I'll put something else on it eventually. It is not part of the problem (ubiquity handles that partition just fine). I also *do* know that the problem is that GRUB is not able to store all required files (core.img) because the first partition starts at sector 63. (Which I already have fixed). The *actual* problem is: ubiquity crashed because of an unexpected situation (GRUB failed to install, not that unexpected I suppose), which should not be happening! According to UbiquityDebug.txt some 'Wizard' object tried to access some attribute 'forwardIcon', which is not available. This needs to be fixed, to prevent this crash. Hence I reopened this report and changed the package to ubiquity, so this issue can be attended and ubiquity can be fixed/improved. ** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New ** Package changed: grub-installer (Ubuntu) = ubiquity (Ubuntu) ** Description changed: After copying and installing all content (Kubuntu 14.04), ubiquity tried to install GRUB. [Bug 1272247] [NEW] Autocompletion of LVM volume groups, physical volumes and logical volumes does not work
Public bug reported: In order to get the details of volume groups, physical volumes and logical volumes for the variety of LVM commands the bash completion script uses vgscan, pvscan and lvscan respectively. These commands require root permissions, so the auto completion does not work. Test case: lvextend tab does not show any completions A 'solution' (more of a hack) is to add the sudo command in front of these scan commands (in the completion file). For example for finding the volume groups: _lvm_volumegroups() { COMPREPLY=( $(compgen -W $( sudo vgscan 2/dev/null | \ sed -n -e 's|.*Found.*\(.*\).*$|\1|p' ) -- $cur ) ) } When one has used sudo recently (so not login is required) the auto completion, for the example above, works and shows the correct options. [Bug 1071722] Re: Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected saucy ** Description changed: I have attached a external monitor to my laptop. When I my the mouse from the primary display (my laptop screen) to the secondary display (external monitor), the mouse cursor image gets duplicated. On the primary screen it freezes its last location (so moving the mouse more quickly, makes sure that the mouse image is clearly visible) and on the secondary screen it keeps on performing as it should. When I move the mouse back to the primary screen, the duplicated mouse image disappears and everything works like normal again. Funny thing: when the duplication is 'active' the frozen mouse, still changes it image (pointing finger, 'text thingy', resizing arrows, etc) when I my mouse (on the secondary screen) is hovering over elements that makes the image change. [Bug 1038522] Re: [kde] manual partitioning in installer crashes when handling many partitions
This bug is still present in the Kubuntu 13.10 installer The patch/workaround provided in comment #23 helped me finish the installation. I never had any problems while using multiple partitions during the installation. The thing that got changed is that I (partially) use my harddisks in a LVM setup. The LVM partitions are shown twice, where the child item is only usable (and shows the filesystem type). Is this the expected behavior? If not, could this be a problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to ubiquity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038522 Title: [kde] manual partitioning in installer crashes when handling many partitions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1038522/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1253460] [NEW] dmraid is not installed for HW RAID+LVM setup
Public bug reported: I am currently trying LVM. My motherboard has hardware RAID controller, which combines two harddisks (RAID0 I believe, but that does not really matter) After circumventing bug 1038522, the installer finished, but when I booted into the freshly installed system, some LVM partitions were not available. The partition on which the OS is installed on my new SSD (which is not part of the RAID array), so that is the reason I guess that the OS was able to partially boot. The missing LVM partitions are stored on the RAID array. After some Internet searching I noticed that the dmraid package was missing. After installing the missing package (and dependencies) using a Live CD, the mounting problems vanished and the new installation (from which I am writing this report) seems to be working properly. Earlier (when not using LVM) this was not a problem. I guess the LVM 'masks' the underlying RAID, so the installer did not notice the RAID configuration (or thinks it is not used). Resulting the dmraid package not being installed... I am using the KUbuntu installer as provided on the KUbuntu Live CD 13.10. I do not know whether this is a KUbuntu specific problem, or whether it also occurs with the Ubuntu installer. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1253460 Title: dmraid is not installed for HW RAID+LVM setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1253460/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1245418] [NEW] Muon updater does not show updates
Public bug reported: When the system tray shows that there are updated available (with the 'gear icon'), the Muon updater (that is opened when clicked on the gear icon) does not show the available updates. [Bug 1208820] [NEW] Pinning preferences do not override eachother as expected
Public bug reported: When some pinning rules are added in /etc/apt/preferences.d/ the priority values of the rules that matches first are used. Take this example: Package: * Pin: release n=raring Pin-Priority: 990 Package: * Pin: release o=LP-PPA-my-raring-ppa Pin-Priority: 50 Results in all packages of my-raring-ppa to have a priority of 990. (This can be 'fixed' by reverting these two sets of pinning rules) Furthermore, if APT::Default-Release raring; is used (default in /etc/apt/apt/config.d/01ubuntu), all raring packages have a priority of 990 and Package: * Pin: release o=LP-PPA-my-raring-ppa Pin-Priority: 50 is not working anymore to set/lower the priority of the my-raring-ppa packages to 50. The latter is quite a problem, as this prevents pinning from working properly (IMO). I do not know whether there are two problems 1) APT::Default-Release is precessed after the preferences 2) Order of pinning rules is reverse-chronological , or that both problems have the same origin. $ apt-cache policy apt apt: Installed: 0.9.7.7ubuntu4 Candidate: 0.9.7.7ubuntu4 Version table: 0.9.9.1~ubuntu2 0 50 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages *** 0.9.7.7ubuntu4 0 990 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 13.04 Release:13.04 ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Pinning preferences do not override eachother + Pinning preferences do not override eachother as expected -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208820 Title: Pinning preferences do not override eachother as expected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1208820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1208820] Re: Pinning preferences do not override eachother as expected
I read the manpages, but I guess I did not understand them completely... And I do know that pinning is a highly advanced feature. But when using experimental packages/PPAs, not using pinning also might break your system... Hence I wanted to use pinning to prevent automatic updating of such experimental packages. If I understand you correctly: When using APT::Default-Release, it is not possible to add PPAs (for the same release version) with experimental packages with a lower priority, so these packages are not updated by default? Or am I still missing something? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208820 Title: Pinning preferences do not override eachother as expected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1208820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1071722] [NEW] Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup
Public bug reported: I have attached a external monitor to my laptop. Since Ubuntu 12.10 I use the xserver-xorg-video-radeon package, as fglrx does not support my ATI video card (HD 3650) anymore. So I do not know whether the problem is also existing pre-12.10. [Bug 360724] Re: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens
I have exactly the same problem. I use Kubuntu 12.04 (but I experience the problems for years already), KDE 4.9.2, ATI Radeon HD 5870, fglrx driver. On my primary monitor the mouse cursor is corrupted sometimes and on the secondary monitor it is always looking good. So by moving the mouse from the secondary to the primary monitor the image gets corrupted and when moving back it gets fix again...?! Additional observations: * When the problem starts manifesting, it happens for all (both OS and application) mouse cursor images. * Restarting seems to only (temporarily) fix. I am happy to provide more information, if required. So please let me know. ** Attachment added: Image of the corrupted default KDE mouse cursor https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+attachment/3398091/+files/IMAG0021.jpg ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360724 Title: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1048559] [NEW] Password is needlessly asked on wireless reconnect
Public bug reported: First, I tried to use ubuntu-bug -w and clicked on the window (see attachment) to report this bug, but it complained about non-official packages, hence my manual report. So please let me know if there is not enough information. The actual report: When I use a wireless connection, it sometimes (needs to) reconnect. When this happens a windows is displayed (I suppose to ask for my credentials), see attachment. I have stored my credentials and turning the wireless off and on, works to reconnect, so they are correctly stored as well. This is my first problem. The second problem is with the window itself, as it is obviously of no use. Clicking OK just reopens it, pressing cancel disconnects the connection and enabling/disabling 'Show password' does nothing. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Both Jaunty and Karmic reached EOL (on October 23, 2010 and April 30, 2011). See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases According to your logs, you had broken/held packages. If you still have this issue when trying to upgrade your installation, it would be the best to backup your data and just install a recent version of Ubuntu (instead of updating). I will close this report (due to the EOL of Jaunty and Karmic). ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463825 Title: Can't mark 'ubuntu-desktop' for upgrade 9.04 - 9.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/463825/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 451888] Re: Firefox doesn't have icon
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 451888 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451888 Title: Firefox doesn't have icon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/451888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
