[Bug 1799988] Re: Missing wifi and bluetooth after sleep on XPS 9370

2019-03-02 Thread Marc-André Moreau
I am also experiencing the same issue with on a Dell XPS 13 9370 that I
upgraded to 18.04. I added mem_sleep_default=deep to my grub boot
options to workaround the battery drainage when "suspended". Just like
other people, I can't seem to figure out a pattern to reproduce the
issue with 100% certainty. I checked and the BIOS is up to date, and my
wifi firmware is WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00079-QCARMSWPZ-1.

When the problem happens, the only way I can get wifi back is to reboot
or shutdown + boot, sometimes it takes more than one reboot to get wifi
back up. For some reason, a complete shutdown + boot appears to work
better than a simple reboot.

[Bug 1403530] [NEW] package nagvis 1:1.7.10+dfsg1-2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script goes zombie

2014-12-17 Thread Marc-André DOLL

When trying to install the nagvis 1.7.10 package on my Ubuntu 14.04

[Bug 993941] Re: [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id - fail resume from hybernate

2012-05-06 Thread Marc-André Laverdière
I have upgraded the kernel as requested and things have been working
mostly smooth for a while.

However, I had a crash today, with a totally different error message:
May 6 14:01:57 redemption kernel: [22446.154049] show_signal_msg: 27 callbacks
suppressed
May 6 14:01:57 redemption kernel: [22446.154054] pool[3766]: segfault at

libgobject-2.0.so.0.3200.1[7f02e45c9000+4d000]

I am going to assume that this error is not related to the new kernel
and update this ticket accordingly.

[Bug 993941] [NEW] [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id - fail resume from hybernate

2012-05-03 Thread Marc-André Laverdière
Public bug reported:

I have been experiencing random system freezes since I switched to
XUbuntu 12.04. Those were not happening when using Fedora 16 with XFCE.

My interface will become non-responsive. The mouse pointer will not move
and no keyboard input will be received. And I can't use Ctrl-Alt-F1 (or
2 or...) to get a shell to try to fix the problem. The only solution is
a hard restart.

It is happening both after a hibernation resume without hibernation.

I tried the DPMS settings as mentioned here, but it still froze.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze

As I didn't install SSHD before, I wasn't able to test if the problem
was only with the X server or it is a kernel panic or something else.

I also had this happening with Unity, so the problem is not XFCE-
specific.

[Bug 944468] Re: keyboard layouts plugin forgets all settings at random times

2012-04-12 Thread Marc-André Laverdière
I am experiencing this bug as well.

At first I thought it was after restarts and hibernation, but I can
confirm it is not the case. Often, a logout and logging back in makes it
work fine.

I am attaching a screenshot that shows that the settings are somehow not
picked up properly.

Regarding Daniel Richard G.'s comment, I have checked syslog, and I
could see a USB-related error as well, but it was 30 minutes before the
bug hit...

[Bug 842560] Re: bnx2 firmware missing

2011-11-28 Thread Marc-André
Have a DL360G5 too.
1. If i reboot the server with the reboot command and nic1 and nic2 are
connected to the network, i have eth0 and eth1 on my 11.10.
2. But if i do a reboot with only nic1, I only have eth1 which is not working,
because nothing is connected.
3. After a reboot with only nic2 i have eth1, but not eth0.
4. But whenever i turn off the server with the ACPI Button, and turn it on
again, i have only eth1. Also if i connect both nics as in 1.

I will try rmmod bnx2 and modprobe bnx2 in a few hours.

Try to boot into windows if you still can and enable the touchpad. I've
just tried and it worked. I've read something similar for the media

have it enabled at start.

If I'm right, maybe we are missing something that get's installed with

grep gave me nothing like you said. Here's the dmesg log.

In the acer-wmi folder, there's only: a link to device folder, power
folder, a link to subsystem folder, and 5 files I cannot read with
gedit: actual_brightness, bl_power, brightness, max_brightness, uevent.
Is there another way you think I could write something in these files?

[Bug 333386] Re: Cannot change brightness with 2.6.27-11+ kernel

2009-04-07 Thread Marc-André Turcotte
I'm still pretty new to linux, but first I would say that since it
works again in 27-29, it should someday in the 28 series also. I don't
really understand what's the problem with restricted drivers and a
mainline kernel since sound and compiz effects worked with no problem
when I tried. Maybe you could try to compile your own kernel.

To make sure it gets solved, I would guess we need to also check kernels
between 27-14 and 27-19 to know where it was solved and send that info
to the kernel team. I don't know if it works that way, I'm just
guessing.

[Bug 333386] Re: Cannot change brightness with 2.6.27-11+ kernel

2009-02-28 Thread Marc-André Turcotte
I've just looked at the changelog for the 2.6.27 kernel, and there's no
mention of brightness in patch 10 and 11. Maybe something completely
different is interfering. There seems to be some patch with brightness
in the patch 15 and 16. For an unknown reason I can't compile kernels,
but if you can try to see if it gets solved.

[Bug 333386] [NEW] Cannot change brightness with 2.6.27-11+ kernel

2009-02-23 Thread Marc-André Turcotte
Public bug reported:

Since the 2.6.27-11 generic kernel (also in 2.6.27-12) I cannot change
the backlight brightness anymore. In the latest kernel, it seems there's
no more file in /proc/acpi/video, but GFX0 still apears in 2.6.27-9
where I can still change brightness. I'm new to linux so if you need
information give me the command to run. It's an acer 6920G laptop.
