[Bug 664534] Re: feature request: do-release-upgrade --download-only
@karora: No it wouldn't be too difficult. One would apply the sources.list change to a temporary or sandboxed clone of the apt config that shares the dpkg cache lock, and then do the equivalent of dist- upgrade --download-only. [Bug 885027] Re: SUID Mount Helper has 5 Major Vulnerabilities
1) It does not work out of the box on all distros (it needs configuration) Contribute whatever magic you used to work around doing this configuration yourself. 2) It may not even be installed on some distros, for example, it isn't installed by default on gentoo. I'm certain that Calibre isn't installed by default. Since you will responsibly put all your other dependencies in your Calibre packages, why not add pmount to those dependencies? 3) It has been deprecated in favor of udisks (which incidentally calibre tries to use before falling back to the mount helper). [Bug 665168] Re: Rhythmbox fails to connect to DAAP share
The bug renders connecting to DAAP shares with non-standard ports (3689) impossible. Entering _any_ port will also cause host lookup failure as the port is included in the host name. TEST CASE: In Rhythmbox, click Music-Connect to DAAP Share... in the menu. Enter a hostname and port number in the syntax specified in the dialog (one does not even need to be there). Note to others! The conf file goes in /etc/**init** not init.d, which I'm used to typing. The provided conf file did not work, I did reinstalls of all plymouth, xorg and nvidia packages, and rebooted several times. No ubuntu logo. I saw a blue and white bar, which after using the new conf didn't jumble as it has earlier, it was a single line. (Previously it would spread out over other lines with error messages about ureadahead). Also a fsck warning right after pressing the grub menu option has gone. $ cat /proc/fb 0 VGA16 VGA $ ps aw | grep X.*vt 1731 tty7 Rs+0:06 /usr/bin/X :0 -br -verbose -auth /var/run/gdm/auth-for-gdm-4fxC0r/database -nolisten tcp vt7 2282 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto X.*vt I am using BINARY driver (nvidia-current, no idea what's going on with the packages, so I installed this one, and configured with nvidia- settings). This problem was solved for me in the Red Hat Bugzilla. Here's the link: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=533703 I was directed to look at this issue: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F11_bugs#dmraid-nodmraid Running the recommanded command `dmraid -rE` then solved the problem, on both Fedora *and* Ubuntu. I've seen various comments around the place mentioning that this problem is due to changes in the kernel and how it handles BIOS RAID settings. Hopefully it will eventually be fixed upstream, if not here. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #533703 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=533703 -- ubiquity partition step does not show some hard drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 459054] Re: ubiquity partition step does not show some hard drives
I was able to install using the alternate installer. An option comes up to disable software raid, which I accepted. As a result I'm able to see all disks. Later after installation completes, I ran update-grub, and got some errors about software raids (of which I should have none, and if I do they're unintentional), and it fails to parse operating systems on other drives. I removed the dmraid package, and reran update-grub, and it works correctly. This problem is somehow related to incorrectly picking up software raid volumes that aren't in use, or previously existed. A workaround is as I explained, use the alternate installer, and immediately remove the dmraid package. -- ubiquity partition step does not show some hard drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459054 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
