[Bug 373868] [NEW] could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

2009-05-08 Thread Michele
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

This was the error message I received when I tried to download "Xubuntu
alternate i386" from this website--- http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu-
iso/CDs-Xubuntu/9.04/release/

"C:\WINDOWS\Downloads\xubuntu-9.04-alternate-i386.iso.part could not be saved,
because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

I expected it to download but it failed to do so for some reason. I don't know
anything about this type of stuff. Someone who does know something sent me to
the above site to download what he thought would fix some issues I've been
having with my compaq presario 722.

Feel free to send me any suggestions as to what I could do to successfully
download the above. Thanks.

[Bug 64649] eciadsl does not work on the 1st attempt

2006-10-08 Thread michele
Public bug reported:

I have an acer aspire 1524 wmli laptop, with kubuntu edgy beta.
When, from konsole, I launch eciadsl-start for the first time I have this
situation:

Password:

[EciAdsl 1/5] Setting up USB support...

Preliminary USB device filesystem is missing... trying to mount

[EciAdsl 2/5] Uploading firmware...

Process skipped .. no more needed

0x8102 -mode VCM_RFC2364 finished (pid 4852), status = 0x0
Modem hangup
Connection terminated.
---

The second time I launch eciadsl-start, everything goes well and I connect to
my provider.
Everytime I start eciadsl-start, the first time I got this problem, on the 2nd
time everything goes ok.
It seems as the channel n. 1 is not available, and fromthe 2nd and over are
available.

Sometime, very rarely, I got this error message on the first attempt:

The same problem as the bug 41833.
I have a kubuntu edgy updated and upgaded every day, and I have always this
problem.
I had this problem also on dapper, and also on slackware 10.2.
I looked for this bug on internet, google, eciadsl forum, but I have not any
solution.

[Bug 63158] Re: new shell in Edgy causes package to not work

2006-09-30 Thread michele
** Description changed:

The new shell in Edgy causes eciadsl to stop working.Suggested fix
(I haven't confirmed this) is to change the top line from #!/bin/sh to
  #!/bin/bash.

Would probably be better to fix this in the package than to have other,
  less-ideal suggested fixes floating around.

  See thread at

[Bug 205000] Re: [HARDY]IPN2220: after kernel 2.6.22 wlan0 does not connnect anymore

2008-04-05 Thread michele
Ciao :)

   Your information is usefull.
I don't think that our problems are ndiswrapper related. If you can connect
(if I have understood) only with the usb network adapter plug it ... I think
that our problems are more related to dhcp or network-manager ... but I'm not a
guru, probably I'm wrong... because remain the fact that with the 2.6.22
kernel series we could connect ...
You should try to monitoring the log files and the network files before the
connection and after the connection ... and maybe we can begin to understand
where we will try to find the solution of our wlan problems

[Bug 205000] [NEW] dhcdbd: wlan0 does not connnect anymore

2008-03-22 Thread michele
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dhcdbd

I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 alpha6 and my wlan0 did not worked anymore.
I have a laptop amd64 acer 1524 wmli and ipn2220 windows driver 64bit.
With kubuntu 7.10 everythings worked correctly.
So I installed 8.04 beta on the old 7.10 upgraded to 8.04 alpha6.
Now I had a new kubuntu 8.04 beta.
But the problem remain here. With the same old features :(
My wlan0, is present, ndiswrapper works ok, but I cannot connect to the router.

[Bug 205000] Re: dhcdbd: wlan0 does not connnect anymore

2008-03-22 Thread michele
Excuse me about my english :(
in a first time, I upgraded from gutsy (where everythings work fine) to hardy,
but several things did not work correctly ... especially my wireless connection.
in a second time (after many and many attempts to make a working wireless
connection), I made a fresh new installation of kubuntu 8.04 beta, erasing and
ripartitioning the old partitions.
and my wireless connection still does not work ! (togheter nvidia-glx too)

[Bug 205000] Re: dhcdbd: wlan0 does not connnect anymore

2008-03-23 Thread michele
If you change /etc/network/interfaces, by hand or by other way (knetworkconf)
network-manager does not work anymore . It wants (network-manager) a clean and
emtpy /etc/network/interfaces.
This bug is similar (or the same) 172330.
I'm not a guru, but it seems as after a long time to get an IP address
something (maybe avahi packages) can not permit to lease an ip address ...

[Bug 194714] Re: [Hardy] ndiswrapper does not function with 2.6.24

2008-03-27 Thread michele
Hi, same problem here too ...
See the bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/205000
My acer 1524wlmi with gutsy worked fine without any problems.
When I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 alpha6, wlan0 did not worked anymore.
I don't belive it depends from wpa, but maybe from network-manager, or dhcp ...
or maybe the new kernel ...
On my last log I can see only a dhcp problem ... NM try to get an ip address
but NM goes on timeout (kde 3.5.9)
I have tried on wpa, with o without encrypt, disabling all the firewall
flushing the rules, etc. etc. ...
eth0 works fine ...
We need of a true linux guru ... or a shining upgrade ... :)

[Bug 205000] Re: dhcdbd: wlan0 does not connnect anymore

2008-03-28 Thread michele
Ciao :)

Me too :) ... in the last days I'm guessing that it's a kernel related problem,
with the 2.6.22 series the problem about dhcp, not sending of the essid , etc.,
went away and the ipn2220 and wlan0 works correctly ...
I add the new kernel package on the bugs about this issue, and the ubuntu men
will try to shoot me ! ;)
Especially about my english ...

I wanted to test 0.6.6-0ubuntu1 that someone said was working, but I
can't find it anywhere. Synaptics doesn't show it and there no way I
know to force version.

Any hints?

[Bug 248777] [NEW] Evolution 2.22.2 - New contact error

2008-07-15 Thread Michele
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Information
Ubuntu 8.04
Evolution 2.22.2

Sometimes when I try to insert full name and/or nickname into a new contact,
randomly one or more characters typed by me don't appear in the text. Any
keyboard key can't be typed.
I tested other applications: Gedit and OpenOffice - Word Processor, where I had
no error. So I believe this is a Evolution bug.

Than you for your answer. Sorry, I'm nearly new with Ubuntu. At this moment
I can't answer at your question, because I'm working with Windows. I'll do
as soon as possible.
I'm thinking that I didn't understud what really happened: only now I'm
aware that the problem is only of information about the file. In fact there
is a wrong name on the top label after the searching while the file
properties indicate a right path.
Soon I'll try the application you suggest and I'll send you another message.
Thank you. Bye
Michele - Rome - Italy

[Bug 63551] Re: X.org doesn't detect widescreen resolution

2007-05-04 Thread michele
I have Ubuntu Feisty 7.04, nvidia chipset and a Dell 2007WFP 20 inch widescreen
monitor.
I was able to get the 1680 x 1050 pixels resolution without manual editing as
follows:
1. install package nvidia-glx-new
2. enable the driver: sudo nvidia-glx-config enable
3. generate new xorg.conf: sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
Apparently, the problem is that the new driver is not officially supported by
ubuntu.

RE: [Bug 289731] Re: when I press cursor down or cursor up firefox scrolls up or down very slowly and continues to scroll even I release the button

2008-10-31 Thread michele

Hi Alexander,
thank you for yor reply.
Effectively the problem is due to adobe flash player plugin (the more flash
animation in the page the more you notice the problem). I have tried the other
flash plugins (Swfdec and Gnash) but they dont work even in youtube.

How can we fix this problem? Flash support is too much important
nowadays, its very important for ubuntu to work well with this!

Thanks,
Michele

Thank you. Bye

Any hints?
