To work around the problem, I moved the files in /var/lib/dpkg/updates to the side, installed both of the packages plymouth-theme-text and plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text, then moved the previous files back. [Bug 204010] Re: networking not working
Hirano, I can confirm that your images fix the problem for me. I hope that this fix can be implemented for Hardy, since it is a kernel change that only affects the XEN kernel, and turns the xen kernel from having non-working networking to having a working networking stack. [Bug 119997] Evolution decodes ISO-2022-JP incorrectly.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution When evolution shows a message in the ISO-2022-JP character set it incorrectly starts decoding as 'JIS X 0201-1976 ("Roman" set)' instead of as ASCII. The specification (RFC 1468) says that text starts in ASCII, and only switches to Japanese characters through an escape sequence. The "Roman" set is considered to be "Japanese" for this discussion. For the most part, this does not matter, as The "Roman" character set of JIS X 0201 [JISX0201] is identical to ASCII except for backslash () and tilde (~). The backslash is replaced by the Yen sign, and the tilde is replaced by overline. The easiest workaround is to start eclipse like so: MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/tmp/gobbledygook eclipse Since then it cannot find mozilla, and then does not try to load (and crash). Public bug reported: This is not a duplicate of bug 87896, that one is talking about the current version of the package not being properly installed in some fashion, in particular that the nvidia.ko module is not being properly created. [Bug 88616] Re: [apport] gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV
Of course... I spoke to soon. I just went off to do some serious work, and was trying to setup my terminals in "the one true way" and gnome- terminal crashed when I opened up a new tab. I can reliably make it crash now by setting my terminal to maximised (for me 209x73) and then opening tabs. By the time I have two tabs of that size open then gnome-terminal will crash. If I leave it at the default of 80x24 then it appears that I can open as many tabs and/or windows as I wish. -- [apport] gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV https://launchpad.net/bugs/88616 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 88616] Re: [apport] gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV
I have the same problem, although I was also able to get the terminal to crash shortly after logging in. After it had been sitting for an hour (lunch) then I was not able to get it to crash further. -- [apport] gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV https://launchpad.net/bugs/88616 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 75360] Re: Crash on exchange account activity (package out of date?)
I will also say that I did an: apt-get source evolution-exchange sudo apt-get build-dep evolution-exchange changed camel-exchange-store.c according to the above patch debian/rules binary and installed the resulting binary, and now my evolution runs fine (as far as i can tell so far) -- Crash on exchange account activity (package out of date?) https://launchpad.net/bugs/75360 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 75360] Re: Crash on exchange account activity (package out of date?)
This is what I said on bug #75361... I almost didn't enter a dupe ;-) The latest evolution-exchange in feisty has a problem, and needs this patch to be applied http://cia.navi.cx/stats/author/vvaradan/.message/e3e6 http://cvs.gnome.org/bonsai/cvsview2.cgi?diff_mode=context&whitespace_mode=show&subdir =evolution-exchange/camel&command=DIFF_FRAMESET&file=camel-exchange- store.c&rev1=1.30&rev2=1.31&root=/cvs/gnome since libcamel does not have camel_url_decode_path. -- Crash on exchange account activity (package out of date?) https://launchpad.net/bugs/75360 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54002] Re: LVM/MD root filesystem not found by uuid
This could also be considered a problem with the initramfs, and not with udev. The problem is actually with the /init file in the initramfs, it converts a UUID=* entry into a ROOT entry of "/dev/disk/by- uuid/${ROOT#UUID=}". This is needed, since the mount command included in the initramfs does not understand the -U (mount by UUID) option. This, combined with the fact that udev does not create /dev/disk/by-uuid/ entries for LVM partitions means that booting with an LVM root is not possible without modifying the grub boot entry. This also explains why mount with the UID specified in the fstab works, as this uses the more advanced non-initramfs mount that does know how to deal with UUID=* entries. Hope this helps towards a solution, since this is a really disastrous bug, that prevents LVM root systems from booting. Even worse, because of the new tendency to fix initrd images when initramfs-tools are "improved" it can even break a running system and make what used to work stop working. -- LVM/MD root filesystem not found by uuid https://launchpad.net/bugs/54002 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54002] Re: No need to convert LVM volumes to UUIDs
Debian also had this problem and resolved it by not converting /dev/mapper: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/g/grub/grub_0.97-13/changelog.html#versionversion0.97-4 -- No need to convert LVM volumes to UUIDs https://launchpad.net/bugs/54002 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54042] Re: update-grub keeps on converting my root device to a uuid
It gets worse... even with the default ubuntu kernel, if your root device is on an LVM partition, you can no longer boot either. This has already been fixed in debian: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/g/grub/grub_0.97-13/changelog.html#versionversion0.97-5 -- update-grub keeps on converting my root device to a uuid https://launchpad.net/bugs/54042 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
