[Bug 503008] Re: Dovecot-auth doesn't close sockets
Strange. I built a Hardy virtual machine and 1.2.9 was installed. Indeed, the archives do say 1.0.10. I'll have to determine what happened with my VM. At any rate, if the error is thrown then that version doesn't support the parameter. -- Dovecot-auth doesn't close sockets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/503008 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hmmm, the default shipped with 8.10 is dovecot-imapd 1:1.1.4-0ubuntu1.3 but an updated 8.04 has dovecot-imapd 1:1.2.9-1ubuntu3 Why does this parameter work with the older version? [Bug 513848] Re: [karmic] CPU load not being reported accurately
@Chase Douglas The description is fine. On Karmic, using a generic stress tool ('stress') the simulated load is reported but the specific (real-life) load I refer to is not. So the problem is a subtle one. Thank you for the tutorial on cpu load. A *zero* load, however, that corresponds to hundreds of running threads is enough to present a valid case. [Bug 345957] Re: iscsid is looking for targets prior to network being available
I want to specify that an iscsi volume can be attached on bootup and shutdown with no problem. Such a volume can also be mounted on bootup. All this without any adjustments whatsoever (ex: changing the startup links). However, upon shutdown or reboot, if the volume happens to be mounted then, and only then, do I get the problem stated above. The tested mounted filesystem was ext4 if that matters. Evidently, iscsi targets are disconnected before the umount calls are made. I verified this by first manually unmounting the filesystem prior to a successful reboot. [Bug 345957] Re: iscsid is looking for targets prior to network being available
Dustin, I can confirm that an iscsi volume can be mounted automatically at boot time for a Karmic client/initiator. Now a reboot hangs terribly when such a volume is mounted. I've attached a screenshot. It appears to confirm the comment above (theterran wrote on 2009-06-15) where we need to screw around with the shutdown scripts. However, I quickly tried that workaround to no effect. -- iscsid is looking for targets prior to network being available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345957 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 428435] Re: luks encrypted partition not detected or mounted automatically
Antti Kaijanmäki wrote: AFAIK there's nothing to fix for karmic. Karmic's cryptsetup is already fixed as it clears the superblock of newly created partitions. It's the old versions of cryptsetup that are broken and it might be a good idea to patch them up for every release which still is officially supported. The truth is that this is going to cause a lot of grief for a great many users. Think about all the 8.04 users who will eventually upgrade to 10.04. Is it too dangerous to incorporate the intelligence of your Python script into karmic's cryptsetup? Maybe invoke debconf for confirmation of any action? I think updating all old versions is a lot more work than making the new one more intelligent. Anyway IMO this bug report must be kept open so that people will find it through bug search when karmic is released and will get bitten by this when they upgrade. Then it will need to stay open until EOL of 8.04 which, for the server, is April 2013. It's just not the way to go IMO. -- luks encrypted partition not detected or mounted automatically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 412617] [NEW] mouse pointer in virt-manager does not sync with guest - hits invisible wall
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virt-manager In jaunty (at least) virt-manager presents a mouse pointer that does not sync properly with the underlying guest. There is an issue whereby the pointer hits an invisible wall. Apparently a workaround is to add a usb tablet and configure the guest appropriately but there is no guide on how to do this (especially the latter). This is supposed to be fixed upstream [1]. [Bug 383068] Re: Creating a new virtual machine does not allow to select ISO image
Do you really expect to have the ISO tunneled over SSH? I'm not sure that would be a great thing. But I agree the dialog should be presented some other way. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virt-manager Currently (0.6.1-1ubuntu4) virt-manager does not remove the image of a deleted machine. This is counter-intuitive. [Bug 385596] [NEW] P3: Locked GNOME Panel does not affect gmenu-simple-editor
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Private security bug reported: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 This bug makes it impossible to create a locked down system. It affects a support customer (school roll-out scenario) and has a high impact profile. Summary: An administrator removes menu items from the Menu Bar with gmenu-simple-editor (right-click Applications 'Edit Menus'). He/she then removes command line access and Panel modification: gconftool-2 \ --direct \ --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory \ --type bool --set /desktop/gnome/lockdown/disable_command_line true gconftool-2 \ --direct \ --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory \ --type bool --set /apps/panel/global/locked_down true This bug allows a user to circumvent all that by simply adding applications back into the menus because gmenu-simple-editor is not affected by the gconf /apps/panel/global/locked_down key as it should be. This bug has been reproduced on Jaunty.
