[Bug 1803135] Re: home WLAN does not work with Ubuntu 16.04 on Thinkpad

2018-11-21 Thread Pooja Saxena
Hello,
thanks for the reply.
well, I had loads of issue in installing a stable working Ubuntu in Thinkpad
and therefore also I went through series of problem fixing solutions. In short,
there is a higher chance that I played around with Grub, but can not confirm.
Besides, I am not much into Grub settings.
Please find the info of my Grub, and guide me further which one I have got and
which one I should have [1].
Also, one more important requirement for me is that I am running my
work-windows 10 in Oracle VM, that should also be compatible with the Grub.

Many thanks,
pooja

** Description changed:

  Hello,
I am working on Ubuntu 16.04 with the following details [1], which is a fresh
installation on Thinkpad Carbon laptop.
Since day 1, I could not manage to use my home WLAN for things like wget,
update packages etc.
Here is one example trying to install some package using my home WLAN [2],
and instant output of trying to install the same package after switching to my
Mobile data [3].

I do not see a reason why it should happen, specially when this works
for my other personal laptop (DELL).

Any suggestions to dig it further is appreciated.

[Bug 1791921] Re: Touchpad doesn't work at all after fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04

2018-09-17 Thread Pooja Saxena
Hello,
I first tried to install the kernak using the instructions as you provided, but
it complained about missing libssl** package, which I installed, leading to
another complain of missing ' linux-headers-4.19.0' package.

After bit of googling to find this package, I ended up to install the
latest 4.19 Kernal following the instructions of this page [1], here is
the information of my latest kernal [2] and here is the output of trying
to install the 4.19**generaic*.deb package, the Kernal remains same as
before [2].

Anyways, I did reboot the system and it unfortunately did not change
anything. The mouse behavior is still the same as before. Here is the
output of [3] xinpout --list-props 12

[Bug 1791935] [NEW] Oracle VirtualBox failed to boot

2018-09-11 Thread Pooja Saxena
Public bug reported:

Hello Ubuntu Team,
I already reported one of bug related to my new Ubuntu 16.04 installation [1],
which has to do with the touchpad not working at all after fresh installation
of ubuntu 16.04.

Now I installed the Oracle Virtualbox VM following the instructions given here
[2], however it failed to boot, throwing this error-message [3].
The output of 'sudo /sbin/vboxconfig' is given in [4], the dmesg output could
be find in attachment as text file.

What has been asked in the instructions does not have any output:
pooja@X1-Carbon-6:~/Downloads$ cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
pooja@X1-Carbon-6:~/Downloads$ sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log
pooja@X1-Carbon-6:~/Downloads$

Any guidence how to fix this bug is appreciated.

Thanks

[Bug 1791921] Re: Touchpad doesn't work at all after fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04

2018-09-11 Thread Pooja Saxena
** Description changed:

  Hello,

information could be find here [0]. Soon after the installation the touchpad is
not working at all, it just randomly move here and there sometime, else
nothing.

  More information
  1. I could find the tocupad-device present in 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices'
[1]
  2. xinput is given here [2]
- 3. 'xinput --list-props 12' output is here [3], I tried to change the values

and ended up reporting this bug.

- 5. One last piece of information, somehow I managed to have my touchpad
worked absolutely fine during my previous attempt of Ubuntu 16.04 installation
this morning.
- The only parameters I changed was
- xinput set-prop 12 302 1 1 1

I had to discard that installation as there was issue in sudo apt-get
update, it failed to get the package, which seem to be linked with the
wifi issue. So I connected to proper wifi and tried fresh installation
and ended up loosing my stable touchpad.

I would really appreciate any help in fixing this problem. Many thanks

** Description changed:

  Hello,
I installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon-6th, Kernal
information could be find here [0]. Soon after the installation the touchpad is
not working at all, it just randomly move here and there sometime, else
nothing.

  More information
  1. I could find the tocupad-device present in 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices'
[1]
  2. xinput is given here [2]
  3. 'xinput --list-props 12' output is here [3], I tried to change the values
but no success unfortunately.

  4. I found this wiki

and ended up reporting this bug.

  5. One last piece of information, somehow I managed to have my touchpad
worked absolutely fine during my previous attempt of Ubuntu 16.04 installation
this morning.
The only parameters I changed was
  xinput set-prop 12 302 1 1 1
  xinput set-prop 12 293 40 40 0

I had to discard that installation as there was issue in sudo apt-get
update, it failed to get the package, which seem to be linked with the
wifi issue. So I connected to proper wifi and tried fresh installation
and ended up loosing my stable touchpad.

I would really appreciate any help in fixing this problem. Many thanks
  for your time!

  Best Regards
  Pooja

[Bug 1790801] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 touchppad does not work smoothly in Lenono Thinkpad

2018-09-10 Thread Pooja Saxena
Hello,
Thanks for your reply.

I remember that I did play around with kernal change as my first attempt
to fix the touchpad issue, but can not confirm changing to other Kernal
intentionally. And the problems with 18.04 persist since day-1.

The steps I followed for testing the latest Kernal:
1. uninstall Oracle Virtual Box
2. Download
linux-headers-4.19.0-041900rc2-generic_4.19.0-041900rc2.201809022230_amd64.deb
from [0]
3. Got error while installing the latest kernal [1]
4. While google around for how to fix the issue, found this page [2], the
installation failed as well giving series of error messages [3]

If there is a way to fix these problems, I would be really keen to try
them. But as you know, that this is affecting my work, so I might wanna
try lower version, I did a test with USB installed 16.04, everything
worked with that. In my understanding, if I installed that, then also it
would keep working fine?

Thanks,
pooja

  Hallo,
The touchpad is not working after installing Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS in Lenovo
Thinkpad laptop. After a lot of googling and trying around, I managed to make
it work in the sense that i could move cursor here and there, but still it has
numbers of problems. Here is the list of problems it still has:
  1. The scrolling does not work at all, it never worked.

  2. It is dead after each restart and I have to provide this commands to make
it work, so that the cursor could move.
sudo modprobe -rv psmouse
sudo modprobe -v psmouse proto=imps

  3. The typing of the keyboard does not work smoothly, which make me really
difficult to work. For example: I ended up typing this
''he list Here is the pr to repoty I want thatoblem of t''
when I want to type:
'Here is the list of problems that I want to report'

  4. The left and right touch is really hard.

[Bug 512600] Re: import ROOT -> ImportError: No module named libPyROOT

2015-12-02 Thread Pooja Saxena
Hello,
I am facing the same issue and honestly I do not understand the fix suggested
in above post:
---
A fix which would respect the convention of other Python packages would be to
symlink the PyROOT .py and .so module files into /usr/lib/pythonXX/dist-packages

I am working on Ubuntu 14.04. I will be happy to provide any information
required.

Look forward to hear back,

thanks,
pooja

[Bug 1325266] [NEW] kGmailNotifer does not show the mail after upgrading to 14.04

2014-05-31 Thread Pooja Saxena
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I recently upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04 and realized that kGmailNotifer does
not work anymore. It is installed, however while showing the mail detail (at
the separate message which show up for fraction of second at the left corner of
laptop), it does not have the feature of showing mail detail anymore. Though,
it look like that some vague message has pop up but it is not visible at all.

I wonder if it can be fixed?

Thank you,

2012-10-12 Thread Pooja Saxena
Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I looked for the directory where you ask me to, but
did not find any log /var/lib/dkms.

My fear is that since the day I upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 using upgrade
manager, every day there is some
failure sometimes terminal, firefox or any other application. I doubt if
upgraded versions are stable at all??

I would appreciate if you could point me to the proper cross check suppose
to be done to check the stability of its
basic functioning. I wonder if it would crash someday.

Thanks,
Pooja

 Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I looked for the directory where you ask me to, but
did not find any log /var/lib/dkms.

 Thanks,
 Pooja

Thanks for you bug report but we can't do anything without details of

Please look in /var/lib/dkms for a build log or any log file that might
 detail the exact error.
