[Bug 1723350] Re: sssd offline on boot, stays offline forever
Since my last comment on this bug report (#16), I upgraded my workstation from artful to bionic. The machine also has an NVME SSD, but I do not see this sssd offline bug anymore. However, I had intermittent problems in browsing the shares inside my AD domain and, when I read here about possible race problems in sssd, I tried to solve them by putting back in place the systemd workaround of this bug description. The result is that with the workaround I can always browse the network shares (I'm using thunar in XFCE4, which in turn uses gvfsd-smb-browse), while without it I can't see the shares almost all the times. This is a consistent behaviour that I noticed in the last days and after several reboots of the workstation. Should this be reported as a different bug? Note: the samba browsing problem is not related to the Security Improvements described in the Bionic Release Notes (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1723350 Title: sssd offline on boot, stays offline forever To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1723350/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Are there any plans to address this bug for unity-2d, after having marked it as critical? I use the attached script (50_light-themes-borders) in /etc/X11/Xsession.d to copy the Ambiance and Radiance themes to the $HOME/.themes user directory and then modify the border width to 3 pixels, for normal frame geometry. [Bug 749986] Re: Resizing LO window from bottom right brings up pop-up and undesirable effects
As a temporary workaround, the resize grips in libreoffice can be disabled by using a custom gtkrc file and calling it from the command line. For example, create a .gtkrc-2.0__libreoffice file in your home directory, with the following content: style default-style { GtkWindow::resize-grip-height = 0 GtkWindow::resize-grip-width = 0 } class GtkWidget style default-style and then launch libreoffice writer (or another component) with the command: GTK2_RC_FILES=.gtkrc-2.0__libreoffice libreoffice -writer This disables the resize grips, but only works from the command line. To make it work for the gui launchers we have to modify all the libreoffice .desktop files. I have written a shell script to do this (to be run with sudo). It must also be run after every upgrade of libreoffice packages or appropriately copied to /etc/rc.local, if you prefer. The script makes backup copies of the original .desktop files, in the case something goes wrong. It works for me, but it should be probably tested by someone else. ** Attachment added: disable-libreoffice-resize-grips.sh https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/749986/+attachment/2155450/+files/disable-libreoffice-resize-grips.sh -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749986 Title: Resizing LO window from bottom right brings up pop-up and undesirable effects -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)
Upstream developers have already stated in comment 4 of the relative bug (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=617222) that: it turns out that cdrdao 1.2.2 recognizes cdrdao version as an illegal command and since brasero expect a precise string for parsing version, and in the case of 1.2.2 it does not get it, it fails. and that: The plugin associated with cdda2wav was designed to work with the cdda2wav coming from the cdrtools package. Up until now, it would refuse to work if it turned out cdda2wav was a symlink Now I turned off this mechanism just for cdda2wav plugin in next version which means that it should work with a symlink to icedax now. So it seems that the kernel has nothing to do with this bug and we need updated versions of brasero and cdrdao to solve it. -- brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)
This is what happens on my system: - with brasero-2.30.0 and cdrdao-1.2.2 I cannot make cd-audio images and cannot copy cd-audio on the fly - with brasero-2.30.0 and cdrdao-1.2.3 I can make cd-audio images and cannot copy cd-audio on the fly - with brasero-2.31.2 and cdrdao-1.2.2 I cannot make cd-audio images and can copy cd-audio on the fly - with brasero-2.31.2 and cdrdao-1.2.3 I can make cd-audio images and can copy cd-audio on the fly So we need both packages upgraded to solve this bug. -- brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 356702] Re: Tooltips stick when switching desktops (Compiz)
I have made gtk+2.0 packages with the gtk-fix-sticking-tooltips.patch made by Johan Tavelin. [Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)
I have made packages of brasero-2.31.2 using the sources from ftp.gnome.org, They are available on my ppa archive: https://launchpad.net/~renbag/+archive/ppa However, with cdrdao_1.2.2 the plugin still complains that the version is too old. It is OK with cdrdao_1.2.3. If I did not make mistakes, for me the problem is not solved upstream. -- brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 569195] [NEW] can't read battery state
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: conky After upgrading from conky-all_1.8.0-1 to conky-all_1.8.0-1ubuntu1 the 'battery_bar' object always returns an empty value. [Bug 569195] Re: can't read battery state
Well, it seems that the problem is that the 'battery_bar' object takes the (height),(width) argument in a wrong way. Changing: ${battery_bar 8} to: ${battery_bar} is a temporary solution. -- can't read battery state https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569195 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
