[Bug 1740746] [NEW] No ethernet after installing ubuntu 17.10 due to MAC address problem
Public bug reported: When doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 17.10 I notice that the installer didn't detect my wired ethernet correctly. I went through with the installation and I could still not connect to the internet. In the network settings I found that the MAC address was incorrect. It was set to ED:0B:00:00:E0:00 which is not the correct MAC address. My previous installation of Ubuntu 16.04 could find the correct MAC address automatically. I tried setting the correct MAC address in the network settings but that made the wired connection disappear from the network settings altogether. My work around is to run the following commands at boot time: ip link set dev enp6s0 address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ip link set dev enp6s0 up (xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx is my correct MAC address) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: network-manager 1.8.4-1ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-21.24-generic 4.13.13 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-21-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.6 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Mon Jan 1 15:13:43 2018 IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-01-01 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Release amd64 (20171018) IpRoute: default via 192.168.1.1 dev enp6s0 proto static metric 100 169.254.0.0/16 dev enp6s0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.1.0/24 dev enp6s0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.105 metric 100 IwConfig: lono wireless extensions. enp6s0no wireless extensions. [Bug 1451815] Re: lists users multiple time when requiring user authentication
For me the issue about getting duplicate names in the output was due to the fact that my user was in both the admin and sudo group. Seems like polkit first lists all user from the sudo group, then all users from the admin group; not checking if the same user was listed twice. so after a quick sudo gpasswd -d $USER admin The duplicate no longer appear. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 944929 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/944929 Hi, I think this is two bugs. 1. Black screen on boot (duplicate of #944929) 2. After boot the top half of the display shows picture, both the upper and bottom part draws over each other. The bottom part of the display still show plymouth. [Bug 471440] [NEW] WLAN works poorly after upgrading to Karmic
Public bug reported: After upgrading the distro to Karmic Koala, the WLAN works really poorly. It can take one minute to load Google or any webpage. Also, it disconnects often, and after hibernate I have to restart the computer to make it work. I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad T60. I have no idea about what can be causing this, but another browser doesn't work better than Firefox, and changing from network-manager to wicd didn't help either. The WLAN worked good before upgrading. (hope I got all the info...) [Bug 35464] Re: Gnome ignores my language setting
Same thing for me, but Swedish instead of Italian. I installed Ubuntu using English as setting. Then another user of the computer needed Swedish, so I installed that too in gnome-language, but kept the top two settings (for my menus... and For everyone at startup...) as English (United kingdom). Still, when I log out and log back in, all applications and all menus will be in Swedish. It seems like installing two languages at once but specify which one to use has some unexpected or undefined behavour. Another thing somewhat related: I removed the swedish language from gnome-language, but thunderbird-locale-sv-se was not removed but had to be removed separately (it was installed together with the other language packages when i selected Swedish, but it wasn't uninstalled together with them) -- Gnome ignores my language setting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/35464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
