[Bug 1740746] [NEW] No ethernet after installing ubuntu 17.10 due to MAC address problem

2018-01-01 Thread Rikard N
Public bug reported:

When doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 17.10 I notice that the installer
didn't detect my wired ethernet correctly. I went through with the
installation and I could still not connect to the internet. In the
network settings I found that the MAC address was incorrect. It was set
to ED:0B:00:00:E0:00 which is not the correct MAC address. My previous
installation of Ubuntu 16.04 could find the correct MAC address
automatically.

I tried setting the correct MAC address in the network settings but that
made the wired connection disappear from the network settings
altogether.

My work around is to run the following commands at boot time:

ip link set dev enp6s0 address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
ip link set dev enp6s0 up

(xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx is my correct MAC address)

[Bug 1451815] Re: lists users multiple time when requiring user authentication

2015-06-06 Thread Rikard Söderström
For me the issue about getting duplicate names in the output was due to
the fact that my user was in both the admin and sudo group. Seems
like polkit first lists all user from the sudo group, then all users
from the admin group; not checking if the same user was listed twice.

so after a quick
sudo gpasswd -d $USER admin

The duplicate no longer appear.

Hope this information is helpful.

[Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon

2013-06-16 Thread Rikard Johansson
Imo this goes against the nature of the workflow with Unity. No need to
minimize applications just use more workspaces, less clutter that way.
But never the less, it should be up to the end-user to deciede his/her
workflow.

[Bug 919888] Re: Display blacks out during boot, then only upper half is used after the boot, on GMA600 (psb_gfx)

2012-04-20 Thread Rikard Lindström
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 944929 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/944929

Hi,

I think this is two bugs.
1. Black screen on boot (duplicate of #944929)
2. Both halfs of X i drawn on the upper half of the display on boot.

I myself is only affected by the second part part of the bug.

After boot the top half of the display shows picture, both the upper and bottom
part draws over each other. The bottom part of the display still show plymouth.
A workaround at boot time is to restart lightdm from rc.local.

After suspend the computer about the 1/4 bottom of the display don't
redraw, either in X or console (grey in X, black in console). Restarting
X makes no good. Suspend is pretty much useless because i have to reboot
the computer after having it suspended.

I tried mainline 3.4rc3, but it does not seem to have the psb_gfx
module.

The device is a MSI Windpad 100W and it use gma500.

[Bug 900206] [NEW] Software Center installed applications by category list fold twice on uninstall

2011-12-05 Thread Rikard Johansson
Public bug reported:

After you uninstall an application from your installed application list
in the Software Center. The list fold itselfs, which is a wee bit
annoying, in case you wanted to uninstall another application under any
desired category. Then unfolding any category/list or not, Software
Center updates and folds everything once again, a few seconds later. So
a total of 2 times the user needs to unfold desired category/list.

Is it possible for the Software Center to update the application
category/list without folding itself (and perhaps without the small
amount of flickering too)

I made a short recording to show what I mean. (view in browser by

[Bug 310224] Re: Cannot open smb:// because of dbus-error

2010-05-15 Thread Rikard Johansson
I got problem with this aswell. MOSTLY when im trying to connect to a
windows share it says:

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive
a reply (timeout by message bus).

Allthough i sometimes am able to connect to my windows computer, i can only
open up 1 out of 3 shared folders.
And i got privileges on all of 3 shared folders. Trying to open a share that
wont, i got the same error msg again.

I've doublechecked, reinstalled, reconfigured settings over and over, wont
help. Would be nice if this bug could
be looked into once again, it's abit frustating.

I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx. Using Samba version 3.4.7.

Thanks. ~ Rikard

[Bug 475778] [NEW] Power applet shows 2 icons in system tray after hibernate

2009-11-05 Thread Rikard
Private bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

As in the summary. Worked fine until upgrading to Karmic Koala distro.
Doesn't cause any errors as far as I can see, but pretty annoying with
two icons (and definitely a bug).

[Bug 471440] [NEW] WLAN works poorly after upgrading to Karmic

2009-11-02 Thread Rikard
Public bug reported:

After upgrading the distro to Karmic Koala, the WLAN works really
poorly. It can take one minute to load Google or any webpage. Also, it
disconnects often, and after hibernate I have to restart the computer to
make it work. I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad T60. I have no idea about what
can be causing this, but another browser doesn't work better than
Firefox, and changing from network-manager to wicd didn't help either.
The WLAN worked good before upgrading. (hope I got all the info...)

[Bug 357205] Re: package postgresql-8.3 8.3.7-0ubuntu8.10.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-09-29 Thread Rikard Nordin
The problem exist because the folder /var/log/postgresql does not exist.
I cannot find out if it didn't exist with the previous postgresql
version or if it was removed by the install script, but after a apt
upgrade I had to create the directory manually to install the package.

[Bug 35464] Re: Gnome ignores my language setting

2009-05-19 Thread Rikard Nordin
Same thing for me, but Swedish instead of Italian.

I installed Ubuntu using English as setting. Then another user of the
computer needed Swedish, so I installed that too in gnome-language, but
kept the top two settings (for my menus... and For everyone at
startup...) as English (United kingdom). Still, when I log out and log
back in, all applications and all menus will be in Swedish. It seems
like installing two languages at once but specify which one to use has
some unexpected or undefined behavour.

Another thing somewhat related: I removed the swedish language from
gnome-language, but thunderbird-locale-sv-se was not removed but had to
be removed separately (it was installed together with the other language
packages when i selected Swedish, but it wasn't uninstalled together
with them)

[Bug 66290] Re: Extra spaces when copy-pasting

2007-04-03 Thread Rikard Nordgren
I have tried it with OOo 2.2.0 in Feisty and the behaviour is that one
extra space gets copied. The expected behaviour should be that only the
marked and copied character gets pasted with no extra space.

[Bug 47169] Re: Issue with the fi (fi) ligature character

2007-04-03 Thread Rikard Nordgren
I have now uppgraded to feisty and the problem is solved (the fi-
ligature is shown correctly)! (Evince 0.8.0 with poppler 0.5.4) I guess
you can mark this bug as solved.

[Bug 49517] Re: dirty text cursor in firefox and thunderbird

2007-01-22 Thread Rikard Nordgren
I have this problem too. I have the nv driver installed and my text gets
all messed up. This is only for the text fields in firefox and not
epiphany so I wonder why this should be related to the graphics driver.
Currently I don't want to use the proprietary nvidia driver and as the
nv is used by default I request this bug to be reopened.

[Bug 80824] Usplash does not work after latest Feisty upgrade

2006-10-12 Thread Rikard Nordgren
I retested in Dapper.

When logging out the problem is gone.

If I shut down the screen switches to LCD during the shutdown procedure.
If I switch to CRT again the screen switches back to LCD when booting
again. I guess that the last issue is in order, but shouldn't the
shutdown be on the CRT screen?

[Bug 49499] Re: Xubuntu installer hangs when starting to install.

2006-06-13 Thread Rikard Nordgren
The message on the xubuntu download page
(http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/dapper/release/) says that
only 128 MB is needed for the desktop install. As xubuntu should be
lightweight it should not require 192 MB to install (and in my opinion
not even 128 MB).
