Ok - this appears fixed - I'm not 100% sure how but in a fit of frustration I hammered cntrl+N in firefox and the first 15 windows appeared minimised but subsequent ones appeared normally. Re: [Bug 990740] Re: upgrading from lucid to precise fails
I'm replying directly here, not via launchpad's bug listing. The first thing that I tried after the upgrade broke was apt-get -f install, and that gave me the error that apt (and the upgrade) was broken. As apt is broken, I would probably have to install python-launchpad outside of apt/dpkg and that would probably mean modifying the install scripts. [Bug 910973] Re: external monitors turn off when movie played
Yes it is still an issue - the related bug (can't detect the monitor resolution correctly and ignores the EDID False directives) was fixed but this incredibly annoying bug remains. It have tried upstream testing with a liveCD but this doesn't use the nvidia driver so the problem cannot be tested properly, if someone points to a simple way to test the live CD with the nvidea drivers I might be able to give this a whirl. BTW the live CD contains no example movie files and no codecs that could play any content I had - this pretty much wrecks the potential for testing video related bugs. I have also tried with the 290 series nvidia driver but the bug remains it is still unclear whether the video driver, kde or the video software / libraries are to blame. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/910973 Title: external monitors turn off when movie played To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/910973/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 908937] Re: nividia / external monitor / macbook pro
Tried 12.04 beta without success: Booting from the live CD doesn't get the nvidia drivers so testing isn't possible this way (unless you know an easy way to do this). The nouveau drivers correctly detected the external monitor but the live CD media player couldn't play any video media I possess so couldn't be tested against bug # 910973 (perhaps an argument for including some test files in the distro?). The live CD could not find any networks on my macbookpro so it is likely that there is something not quite right about the network setup / drivers. So no networks => no apport reporting... On the plus side the nouveau driver seemed to be doing a better job than I remember although noticibly slower / clunkier for compositing things. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/908937 Title: nividia / external monitor / macbook pro To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/908937/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 908937] Re: nividia / external monitor / macbook pro
Please see comment #24 - it is fixed with the latest nvidia driver package from kubuntu (to be precise the computer now correctly detects the resolution of the one external monitor I've tried it with since I installed the update last week). I have no idea if the edid options in xorg work and no intention to test them. The installation of this driver as been problematic - the first install (and reboot) resulted in no compositing. Reinstalling appeared to fix this. However applications that normally use the hardware accelerated opengl from nvidia appears to have switched to software opengl and are using mesa - I've no idea how to fix this. The nvidia driver (or something else) is broken for my macbook pro because the external monitor still turns off when a movie starts. This basically wrecks the machine for presentations. Testing with the next release will have to wait until I upgrade to the next release - I have no easy way to do this and don't anticipate moving to 12.xx for some time. I'm not sure what you are asking wrt the kernel? Are you asking for me to test this with http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v3.0.28-oneiric/ ? [Bug 908937] Re: nividia / external monitor / macbook pro
Using the latest nvidia driver from kubuntu (2.80.13) the monitor resolution problem appears to be fixed. However this has had some odd side effects: First time I installed the driver the mouse buttons and window maximisation appeared broken - instead of the maximise button giving vertical max / horizontal max or full screen max (as setup for right / middle / left click) windows would only horizontal maximise. [Bug 917559] Re: can not connect internet via bluetooth DUN
Sorry I have to say this: The report which I sent is belong to "kernel 3.0.0-14-generic" Should I send same report for "kernel 2.6.38-11-generic" that I got the bug ? And I wanna say one more thing; I added this message the needed lines from "/var/log/messages" : One is belong to kernel 3.0.0-14-generic (for unsuccessfull try) The other is belong to kernel 2.6.38-11-generic (for successfull try) May be helpful. thank you for your interest. ** Attachment added: "reports.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/917559/+attachment/2684029/+files/reports.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/917559 Title: can not connect internet via bluetooth DUN To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/917559/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 898274] Re: Bluetooth adapter is not in lsusb after sleep
Now the bluetooth is working and I will explain you what I did. In fact, I think it is not a bluetooth's problem only. After the sleep mode, the usb port where the bluetooth adapter was connect didn't work anymore. I tried to connect other things such as HD, mouse and pendrive in this port. All of them didn't work, but they were with energy. It seems only that USB port was blocked/disabled. I connected the bluetooth adapter in other usb ports and it was OK. This means this adapter's hardware is OK. Then, I rebooted and the problem was still there. I turned off the computer, took out everything and started ubuntu and It didn't work also. I rebooted and checked my bios, but there is no option to enable/disable usb. I rebooted again. I entered in bios once more and I left my notebook on batterie only up to the "forced" shutdown. After this, the note was total without energy. I reconnected the energy cable and started windows. Everything was working connected in that usb port (hd, mouse, pendrive, etc). I rebooted and started ubuntu. Now It is ok. Next days I will try to reproduce this problem. I would like to know wich kind information I should collect/or the commands I should run. Here follows the result from lsusb command that Vadim #24 asked after bluetooth working. ** Attachment added: "result from lsusb command after bluetooth OK" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/898274/+attachment/2614974/+files/lsusb_OK.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/898274 Title: Bluetooth adapter is not in lsusb after sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/898274/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
