It is intentional, as the bq-aquaris channel includes things like the
HERE AGPS service.

My BT keyboard, mouse, and headset all work so it's something to do with
the HFP changes that came with bluez5 I have to assume, since before the
switch I could pair with the car just fine.

[Bug 1552410] [NEW] Cannot pair mako with 2014 Subaru Forester

2016-03-02 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Since the bluez5 transition my mako has not been able to pair with the
radio in my 2014 Subaru Forester. When the radio is put into pairing
mode the phone sees the CAR_M_MEDIA device, but when I click "connect"
the radio immediately shows "failed" and no PIN prompt is shown on the
phone. Additionally, the entry in system-settings for the car stereo is
left in a limbo state with the "forget" button inactive. The only way to
remove the entry is to use bluetoothctl from the command line.

[Bug 1401717] [NEW] Scope test fixture throws exception when scope uses cache_directory()

2014-12-11 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

When using TypedScopeFixture to test a scope that makes use of
cache_directory any tests will always fail with the following message
(regardless of where the cache_directory call is in the scope code):

C++ exception with description "unity::LogicException:
ScopeBase::cache_directory() cannot be called from constructor" thrown
in the test body.

A similar problem with scope_directory() was solved by adding a
set_scope_directory() method to the fixture.

[Bug 1347128] Re: Owncloud client indicator has wrong position - absolutely on the left

2014-09-28 Thread Scott Sweeny
The problem here is that owncloud-client doesn't actually produce an
indicator, but rather an old-style systray icon. Until now this wasn't a
problem because a Qt plugin called sni-qt[1] would automatically convert
systray icons to indicators. Unfortunately, sni-qt doesn't support
Qt5[2], and between the trusty and utopic versions owncloud-client
switched from building against Qt4 to Qt5.

There are a couple of possible solutions:
1. Try to build the current version of the client against Qt4
2. Update sni-qt to support Qt5
3. Patch in support for AppIndicator[3] or StatusNotifierItem[4][5] directly

The sni-qt project seems to be dead, with no updates since Quantal
(12.10) so 2. seems unlikely without some community help.

[Bug 1350969] [NEW] Can't dismiss bottom-edge menu

2014-07-31 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Using a mako on image 162 (though this has happened in the last few
images as well) in the camera app if you swipe up the bottom-edge menu
(location, flash, HDR options) there's no obvious way to dismiss said
menu and go back to a functioning camera. You can swipe to the existing
pictures or leave the app (which doesn't save any settings changes for
next time)

[Bug 1261438] Re: No protocol icons in Post View

2014-02-15 Thread Scott Sweeny
It looks like the problem is that in the accountDelegate component in
qml/Post.qml both iconName and iconSource are defined. According to [1]
if both are defined iconName is ignored. Then, the iconSource assignment
fails because it doesn't get a valid url (maybe because it doesn't point
to a file directly? I'm not very well-versed in how image:// urls work
in Qt).

Long story short: I was able to get the icons to show up by removing the
:iconSource:" line from Post.qml.

[Bug 1234361] Re: Bluetooth panel not getting scan results

2013-10-16 Thread Scott Sweeny
I was able to pair a bluetooth headset with my maguro by adding
/var/lib/bluetooth to my writable-paths file.

It should be noted that this directory doesn't exist on first boot but
was created at boot time after I enabled a writable image in order to
edit the paths file.

Inside of this directory is a subdirectory with (I presume) the MAC
address of the bluetooth adapter that contains various data including
devices that have been/are paired with it.

[Bug 1230067] Re: Freshly installed application dos not appear under 'Installed' category immediatly

2013-10-11 Thread Scott Sweeny
This only seems to apply to the first click package installed in a fresh
image. Also, a search after installing that first package seems to be
enough to get it to show up in the installed apps list.

My test was this:
- Associate with Ubuntu One (prereq for installing click pkgs)
- Install xkcd package
- Look in installed apps list -- it's not there.
- Search for it -- it's in results.
- Close search -- it's in installed apps list.
- Install uWoot package
- Look in installed apps list -- it's there.

My original thought was that we just needed to trigger an empty search
after the package install but it seems more complicated than that. Even
after a reboot newly installed packages are showing up in the list, so
it's not just a process that isn't starting correctly on boot.

[Bug 1158045] [NEW] "Problem already known" window pops under, no launcher entry

2013-03-20 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

The "Problem already known" prompt, which pops up after submitting an
apport report for a known crash, pops UNDER the current active window
(which in my typical use case tends to be a Firefox window since I often
submit whatever crash reports I receive in the morning before checking
news/email/whatever). It also doesn't show up on the Unity launcher.

This leads to me forgetting about the submission until I close the
browser window to find the prompt sitting there waiting. This is
suboptimal since I tend to close the browser as I'm about to log out or
otherwise leave the computer, but now when I dismiss the window I have
to wait for my browser to start up again so I can close it. It would be
better I think to either make this popup more obvious or allow a user to
dismiss it without opening a browser window.

[Bug 1101311] [NEW] apport/ubuntu-bug doesn't recognize raring kernel

2013-01-18 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

I was trying to report a kernel driver bug using 'ubuntu-bug linux' when
I was presented with this message:

It appears you are currently running a mainline kernel. It would be
better to report this bug upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org/ so
that the upstream kernel developers are aware of the issue. If you'd
still like to file a bug against the Ubuntu kernel, please boot with an
official Ubuntu kernel and re-file.

Followed by this one:

The problem cannot be reported:
The running kernel is not an Ubuntu kernel

I've not installed any kernels apart from the linux-image metapackage.
My currently-installed version of linux-image is 3.8.0.0.13 and uname -a
gives:

[Bug 1079899] [NEW] pget doesn't respect the value of PBUILDER_SRCDIR_FORMAT

2012-11-16 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

When pget fetches a source package it checks the value of
PBUILDER_SRCDIR_FORMAT, which can be either "flat" or "pkg".

If "flat", then source packages are downloaded and unpacked to
~/Projects//

If "pkg", then they are downloaded and unpacked to
~/Projects// (which keeps debs and build artifacts
contained).

Currently the script checks the value but in all cases performs the
"flat" behavior.

Can you tell me what you expect the next release number to be? 0.98.3?
0.99? I wan to ensure a smooth transition between the PPA package and
the eventual release.

[Bug 884041] Re: Screen brightness not adjusted when switching from AC to battery

2012-11-09 Thread Scott Sweeny
Judging by upstream design documents[1], this feature has been changed
by the GNOME folks to only dim the screen when idle on battery power.
The tickbox for "Dim screen to save power" in the "Brightness and Lock"
capplet in Gnome Control Center toggles the "idle-dim-battery" GSettings
key, and on battery power your screen should dim after (by default) 30
seconds of idle time.

I'm going to talk with upstream about clarifying the tickbox label, but
otherwise I don't think this feature will be coming back as it was.

[Bug 1032433] Re: Using WEP 128-bit Passphrase, Ad-hoc connection cannot be established

2012-10-08 Thread Scott Sweeny
I was able to reproduce this using my dev laptop and a netbook, both
running Precise.

I created the adhoc network on my laptop, then tried and failed to
connect using the NetworkManager applet on the netbook.

I then dropped to the command line on the netbook and manually connected
using wpa_supplicant. This succeeded.

Next I cranked up the logging on both NetworkManager and wpa_supplicant
to prove that NM was feeding in the right keys and so forth. The keys
were right, and I noticed in the output that NM thought that connection
was successful and launched the DHCP client. However, those DHCP packets
never reached my dev laptop (confirmed via syslog).

Now here's the weird part: I attached strace to the NM process and tried
to connect via the applet, and it succeeded. Now all subsequent attempts
to connect are succeeding. Even creating a new network with a different
password, I can no longer reproduce this bug.

[Bug 986347] [NEW] Unity3d unusably slow with nvidia drivers

2012-04-20 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

For the past few days both Unity 3d and gnome-shell performance has been
incredibly poor on precise. I suspect that the 3d drivers are to blame
because both of those desktops experience this poor performance but
unity-2d does not. Additionally the slowdowns happen during periods when
the 3d graphics are actively doing something (i.e. reavealing the Unity
launcher or moving a window in a composited environment), but when doing
something that does not require the 3d graphics such as typing this
comment there is no noticeable slowdown.

[Bug 949912] [NEW] libpcsclite1 is not compatible with multiarch

2012-03-08 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

I recently ran into an issue trying to install a 32-bit package which
depends on libpcsclite1. That package drew in the i386 package for
libpcsclite1, which conflicted with and subsequently uninstalled the
64-bit version, which in turn uninstalled wpasupplicant and network-
manager (this only really happened because I failed to pay close enough
attention to the consequences of installing the package).

If possible, this package should be made multiarch compatible.

ssweeny@talyn:~$ sudo apt-get install libpcsclite1:i386

Suggested packages:

The following packages will be REMOVED:

The following NEW packages will be installed:

[Bug 949796] [NEW] lightning thunderbird extension does not follow system time zone settings

2012-03-08 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

I recently travelled to London from the eastern United States. I was
able to easily change my system time zone to London using the date/time
indicator however my appointments in Thunderbird (Lightning) did not
update to reflect the change. I had to dig through the preferences
window in Thunderbird to change Lightning's time zone.

[Bug 944887] [NEW] Graphics corruption on login when using nVidia drivers

2012-03-02 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

When logging into my precise system, during the brief transition between
the LightDM greeter and the Unity desktop my screen shows what can only
be described as a jumbled collage of things that have been on my screen
recently. Little bits of titlebars or content from web pages that were
open when I logged out.

This happens every time I log in to my desktop with nVidia graphics. I
have not seen it on my laptop which uses Intel graphics.

Perhaps video RAM is not being cleared somehow? I have noticed that the
effect is less severe when booting cold rather than using the system
reboot. In that case it's still a jumble but there is no recognizable
content. Just shapes and colors.

[Bug 873581] Re: do-release-upgrade fails again while upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10

2011-10-13 Thread Scott Sweeny
I ran into this updating my wife's computer. It appears to have been
caused by a comment at the end of one line of /etc/fstab, which the
python code fails to ignore. Removing the comment allowed the upgrade to
continue.

[Bug 834773] [NEW] "shared by" line on displayed repeats is incorrect on StatusNet

2011-08-26 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

As of gwibber 3.1.6-0ubuntu2 in oneiric when displaying native
repeats/rewtweets the "shared by" line (which I assume is meant to show
which of my contacts repeated the notice) shows the original author of
the post. I've attached a screenshot showing the issue.

I've only seen this bug when connected to my StatusNet site. The Twitter
plugin works as expected.

[Bug 834261] [NEW] 'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'

2011-08-25 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

When I start update-manager after upgrading today, I get the following
message:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the
following error message:
'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by
held packages.'

And the list of available packages is blank, but the window says I can
upgrade 45 packages (same with the launcher icon).

An 'apt-get upgrade' works as expected however.

[Bug 638658] [NEW] Banshee Sound Menu Integration plugin non-functional

2010-09-14 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee-community-extensions

This is a Maverick system, 64-bit.

When Banshee is running and the Sound Menu Integration plugin is loaded
an entry for Banshee appears in the sound menu with previous/play/next
controls, but the controls do nothing (i.e. Banshee doesn't respond) nor
do they change state when Banshee is playing (i.e. "play" button doesn't
become "pause").

Additionally the album art and track info do not appear when Banshee is
playing.

[Bug 634610] [NEW] Not all Banshee Community Extensions built

2010-09-09 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee-community-extensions

The source package for banshee-community-extensions version
1.7.4-1ubuntu1 has been uploaded to Maverick but only the binary
packages for mirage and lirc have been built. The rest are stuck at
1.6.1-1ubuntu1 which is incompatible with the current banshee package,
1.7.5-0ubuntu2.

I initially thought the rest would make their way into the archive but
looking through the build logs on Launchpad it seems that only those two
were even built.

[Bug 560116] Re: no way to tell what song is playing from banshee-extension-appindicator

2010-04-11 Thread Scott Sweeny
Seems a shame to lose this functionality. To be honest, I was always a
fan of the banshee tooltip, but I understand that's not available. I'm
not sure if there's a better solution at this point.

[Bug 560116] [NEW] no way to tell what song is playing from banshee-extension-appindicator

2010-04-10 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee-community-extensions

When using the AppIndicator extension in banshee it's impossible to tell
what song is playing without showing the banshee window. The analogous
Rhythmbox plugin uses two insensitive fields in the menu to show the
artist and song title. Since tooltips aren't available to application
indicators I think something similar should be done in this case.

[Bug 545714] Re: Must buy music from a computer for U1MS tracks to sync to it

2010-03-28 Thread Scott Sweeny
I've run a test on a fresh install. Once I authorized the computer with
Ubuntu One my files started syncing as expected, but the music store
directory wasn't created. I let all the files sync up and still nothing.
I opened rhythmbox and then the music started downloading.

Starting rhythmbox wasn't enough on the other machines though, as I had
done that in anticipation of watching the music populate (I get really
bored sometimes...).

[Bug 545714] Re: Must buy music from a computer for U1MS tracks to sync to it

2010-03-24 Thread Scott Sweeny
I do have a fourth machine, but I can't upgrade it yet since it's my
main dev box at work. I can try loading a virtual machine when I get
home and see what happens.

The other machines were syncing files just fine, so I'm not sure I
understand what you mean by saying they weren't connected. That the
daemon wasn't running until I started the music download?

[Bug 545714] [NEW] Must buy music from a computer for U1MS tracks to sync to it

2010-03-23 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store

I have three machines running Lucid. I grabbed a free album on one of
them just to test out the music store and it downloaded to that machine
just fine, but none of the tracks showed up on any other computers.

I then grabbed a free track on a second machine and noticed that track
and all of the previous ones showed up.

On the third I went poking around the filesystem to see if they were
downloaded but not showing up in RB for some reason when I noticed that
~.local/share/ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One was a bad link to
~/.ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One (i.e. ~/.ubuntuone/Purchased from
Ubuntu One didn't exist). Once I grabbed a free track from the store on
that machine the directory was created and all the tracks started
syncing.

I'm not sure if this is by design, but the expected behavior for me is
that the music would sync to all my associated computers without having
to buy tracks from each of them.

[Bug 459193] Re: epiphany browser segfaults when extensions are installed

As it turns out, the problem was the older rules for the adblock
extension. When I cleared those rules and created new ones the browser
started working.

[Bug 459193] [NEW] epiphany browser segfaults when extensions are installed

2009-10-23 Thread Scott Sweeny
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany

Using the 9.10 release candidate, I installed epiphany-webkit and it ran
fine. I then installed epiphany-extensions and now the browser fails to
come up. The console shows many "error while compiling regular
expression" errors and the program eventually segfaults. I have attached
a log of one attempt to run the browser.
