[Bug 814833] Re: Opening the dash is very slow and laggy
Scratch my earlier comment #16. The reason why the performance of Unity was so terrible is bug #856233. The CPU frequency of my HP EliteBook 6930p was erroneously locked at 800 MHz. Opening the dash is still takes roughly 200 ms. Even though I would love for it to be even snappier, it is acceptable for day-to-day use. If anyone is interested, the output of unity_support_test is all green and the OpenGL renderer is Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV620. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/814833 Title: Opening the dash is very slow and laggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/814833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The reason for the NullReferenceException is that in my case (Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 1), Afrodite.Utils.GetPackagePaths fails to retrieve the package paths for glib-2.0 and gtk+-3.0, because the corresponding VAPI files are located in /usr/share/vala-0.14/vapi rather than /usr/share/vala/vapi. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 692635 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/692635 Thanks a lot for taking the time to report this bug. You are perfectly right. I'm experiencing these frequent crashes myself and I know how annoying they are. I've already spent quite some time trying to figure out what is done incorrectly in LottaNZB that causes these crashes in the low-level libraries. The most likely reason is that it is some sort of multi- threading issue, which is particularly hard to debug. I'll definitively try harder to fix this bug. Any help is welcome. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 692635 Frequent segmentation faults -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/784992 Title: lottanzb segfaults every few minutes on natty -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 777684] Re: When LottaNZB is set to pause, download resumes in sabnzbd at next boot
Thanks for taking the time to report this. It's true that when SABnzbd is started, it is not paused automatically, even if it had been paused in the previous session. This is in contrast to a setting like the download speed limit, which is preserved across sessions. LottaNZB is usually started because the user has the intention to download something. So, if SABnzbd is started as a result of starting LottaNZB, preserving the pausing state does not seem that intuitive and I'd rather not like to make that the default behavior. However, in your case, SABnzbd appears to be started silently in the background when the computer is started (correct me if this assumption is wrong). It seems more appropriate to preserve the pausing state here. Since SABnzbd is started independently from LottaNZB, LottaNZB has no control over whether SABnzbd should be paused from the beginning. I thus see the following solutions: - Suggest the SABnzbd developers to add a setting that will cause the pausing state to be preserved across sessions. - In the script that starts SABnzbd (usually /etc/default/sabnzbdplus), add the extra command line option -pause so that SABnzbd is always paused on startup. While you'll need to resume SABnzbd, it will at least not start downloading automatically. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/777684 Title: When LottaNZB is set to pause, download resumes in sabnzbd at next boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 713843] Re: lottanzb crashed with argument must be a GObject subclass in _type_register()
I can confirm this issue on Natty. The crash occurs when LottaNZB tries to import a module of the Kiwi framework. The bug doesn't lie within LottaNZB, but in Kiwi, as it also occurs when one tries to execute "from kiwi.utils import gsignal" in a Python shell. As LottaNZB 0.5 heavily depends on Kiwi, the bug must be fixed in Kiwi in order for LottaNZB 0.5 to work again. [Bug 641674] [NEW] Application icon shadow rendering issue
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity Now that bug #599741 has been fixed, this bug report describes one of the remaining rendering issues. The graphics card in question is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450. The free radeon driver is used. [Bug 641669] [NEW] Application launcher should choose 32 px PNG icons over SVG
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity It seems like the application launcher (to the left) always rasterizes the SVG icon of an application even if a 32 px PNG version of the same icon is available. [Bug 641666] [NEW] [rhythmbox, appmenu-gtk] Ghost menu item between "View" and "Control"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity It seems like a minor issue, but I thought I might still report it because there could be an underlying issue affecting other applications as well. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Rhythmbox and select the "View" menu item. 2. Press the right arrow key and notice that instead of "Control" being selected, a small gray box (rendering issue?) appears above the "Music" menu item. 3. Pressing the right arrow key again will select the "Control" menu item. [Bug 599741] Re: Major rendering issues using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450
Well, there we go. fglrx shot my system to pieces once more. ;-) There was a problem configuring it ("Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel [...]") which prevents the system from booting the graphical environment. I might use a live environment to get hold of make.log. Of course, this is something unrelated to this bug. -- Major rendering issues using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/599741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 599741] Re: Major rendering issues using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450
@Mirco Müller: I didn't use fglrx-driver because back then, because installing it would make it impossible to boot the system, while the free radeon (merged with radeonhd?!) driver did its job perfectly well on the default Ubuntu desktop with effects enabled. With the latest updates applied, it's still possible for me to reproduce this bug. However, I might give fglrx another try and let you know about the results. -- Major rendering issues using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/599741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 616508] Re: Main window insensitive upon startup
Thanks alot for your in-depth explanation of the issue. It allowed me to reproduce it and track it down. The duplicate SessionNotSpecifiedError actually indicates that a SessionNotSpecifiedError has been raised (which is perfectly fine), but there was an unhandled exception in one of the handlers dealing with this error (e.g. responsible for opening the 'Start Downloading' dialog). For some reason, the SessionNotSpecifiedError was displayed a second time instead of the actual error, making it impossible to know what actually went wrong. This has been fixed in the latest code. As soon as new daily builds have been released, such errors will be displayed properly on the console, allowing us to fix the bug for good. As for the unresponsive window occurring after having connected successfully to SABnzbd: Even though I haven't experienced it for some time, it will still require some investigation. ** Changed in: lottanzb Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- Main window insensitive upon startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616508 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 616508] Re: Main window insensitive upon startup
What I forgot to ask is whether you encounter this bug each time LottaNZB is launched. As a work-around, you should be able to change the configuration file ~/.config/lottanzb/lottanzb.conf by setting "active = local" in [backend.sessions]. -- Main window insensitive upon startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616508 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 616508] Re: Main window insensitive upon startup
Hi jcfp, thanks alot for reporting this bug! It's definitely something that will need to be fixed prior to the release of LottaNZB 0.6. I've also encountered it a few times. It might be caused by a race condition as it doesn't happen every time LottaNZB is launched. The main window is meant to be insensitive if and only if LottaNZB is not connected to SABnzbd yet. For your information, the 'SessionNotSpecifiedError' should theoretically not be related to this bug, as it just indicates that LottaNZB hasn't been set up yet (local or remote session). The exception is raised in one thread (without being caught), but handled in another thread, which should cause an appropriate dialog to be displayed. It's odd though that the exception seems to have been raised twice. Also, one should probably prevent this exception from being shown in the output in the first place. -- Main window insensitive upon startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616508 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
