Bryce, thanks for the links. I downloaded all the files and installed them. But the problem is still there. I don't see any difference even after I installed the new packages from https://edge.launchpad.net /~intel-gfx-testing/+archive. I downloaded the following packages. libdrm2_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb libdrm2-dbg_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb libdrm-dev_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb libdrm-intel1_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb libdrm-intel1-dbg_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb libpciaccess0_0.10-1_i386.deb libpciaccess-dev_0.10-1_i386.deb xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid_i386.deb xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg_2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid_i386.deb But I couldn't install libpciaccess0_0.10-1_i386.deb because the package manager says a later version is already installed. Does these updated packages confirm the fix for the rendering problem ? Anyone got the issue solved using these packages ? But unluckly in my case, I don't. I noticed that the problem is not present in my friends installation of Ubuntu 8.10. [Bug 305054] Re: Problems in Video Rendering
Hi Tom thanks for the tips. But the flickering problem persists with all the video driver configurations and also when compiz is switched off. I also changed the refresh rate to 75Hz (using ViewSonic VA1703wb) where 60Hz was default. But this didn't change the situation. I also had this problem with Fedora 9 and OpenSUSE 11 installtions but not in Ubuntu Hardy. So it might be because of some bugs in the upgrades (Video transperancy now works with the xv driver. [Bug 270025] [NEW] Screen Resolution Problem
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I'm using Ubuntu hardy Heron and I have an Intel GMA 945 built in graphics on Intel D945GCNL Mother Board. My monitor is ViewSonic VA1703wb with native resolution of 1440x900. I'm getting the native resolution without any problems. But when the screen resolution changes during playing games , (after exiting the game) the native resolution doesn't come back. When I run 'xrandr -s 1440x900' nothing happens as it is not in the available lists. This problems does not happen always. But when it happens I cannot use my native resolution. I have to shutdown the PC for some minutes and then turning on gives back the native resolution. Doing just a restart doesn't work fine. When I googled I came up with some EDID problems regarding the Windows driver of GMA 945. But there were no mention about Linux. This problem also happens sometimes when starting the PC. When it occurs the only way is to shutdown and start after a while... Is this a driver issue ? Any help is appreciated ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Screen Resolution Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270025 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147045] Re: gnome-appearance-properties hogs processor even after close
I'm having the same problem and removing the .gtkrc-2.0 fixed this issue. [Bug 138094] Re: [Gutsy] desktop and keyboard freezes while mouse is moveable
I'm having the exact same problem since yesterday evening and this has happened trice since then. I've a Dell inspiron 600m with gutsy and compiz. video card is ATI ** Attachment added: Xorg.20.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10269608/Xorg.20.log -- [Gutsy] desktop and keyboard freezes while mouse is moveable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138094 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 133564] Re: Swap fails to activate in gutsy
Have the exact same problem. Its not a fstab/uuid issue. What I've noticed is that when it fails and I do a sudo vol_id /dev/sda5. the output has ID_FS_TYPE=suspend instead of ID_FS_TYPE=swap. Once I do a mkswap and then add the new uuid to the fstab file, it starts to work on reboot until for some reason the ID_FS_TYPE get set to suspend again. Any chance this is related to hibernate ? -- Swap fails to activate in gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133564 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 110636] Re: hdparm - cannot set dma on IDE hard drive that works via pata
Just to endorse - I have the same problem after replacing my edgy and dapper with a fresh install of feisty. Unfortunately I installed feisty for a couple of windows user frens and they just haven't stopped complaining how bad linux is at doing simple things.. -- hdparm - cannot set dma on IDE hard drive that works via pata https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110636 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
