[Bug 1093363] [NEW] No sound from HP Pavillion built-in speaker

2012-12-23 Thread Sreejith
Public bug reported:

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 sometime back on my HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop.
This was originally having Windows VISTA which got formatted as part of Ubuntu
installation.

All of a sudden, I am not able hear any sound from the built-in speakers. I
referred the below thread,
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting#Sound_Output_Troubleshooting,

to resolve this issue but I am not able to hear the sound by running the
below command

sudo aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

Here are my system details.,
sudo lsb_release -rd
 Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

I am not sure whether this is the correct forum to report this kind of
issue but it would be greatly appreciated if someone can help me on
this.

I could reproduce this issue several times and I have taken the logs
relevant to this. Since the display and keyboard hangs after the issue
is reproduced, the logs were taken after a reboot. Also updated Bug
#916688 with apport-collect.

[Bug 474441] [NEW] No sound in Ubuntu 9.10

2009-11-04 Thread Sreejith
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. I did not have sound in 9.04 and don't
have sound in 9.10. Strangely, when I had done a clean install of 9.10

Sreejith, is this still an issue on Jaunty? We're putting a lot of

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” source package in Ubuntu: Confirmed

 Bug description:
I've installed the new Ubuntu 8.10 and found that the video rendering
(movies) in Totem and Mplayer (Or any other player) is poor. I'm getting
some off-positioned frames when playing the movies. I've attached a
screenshot of the issue (Things look not that bad as in the screenshot. I
took it while plaing the movie). In the earlier version of Ubuntu (8.04) I
didn't have this issue. But 8.04 had problems showing blue lines in video
window when a window (or menu) shows upon them, when compiz was enabled. But
this issue is now resolved in the latest release. Hope these informations
are helpful. I'm using Intel GMA945 buitin graphics and a Core2Duo processor
with 1GB RAM. I'm using the video driver as xv (which is the default)

I assume there should be some workaround for this issue...

[Bug 305054] Re: [i945G] Problems in Video Rendering

2008-12-20 Thread Sreejith K
Bryce, thanks for the links. I downloaded all the files and installed
them. But the problem is still there. I don't see any difference even
after I installed the new packages from https://edge.launchpad.net
/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive. I downloaded the following packages.

libdrm2_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb
libdrm2-dbg_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb
libdrm-dev_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb
libdrm-intel1_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb
libdrm-intel1-dbg_2.4.1-0ubuntu7~intrepid_i386.deb
libpciaccess0_0.10-1_i386.deb
libpciaccess-dev_0.10-1_i386.deb
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid_i386.deb
xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg_2.5.1-1ubuntu5~intrepid_i386.deb

But I couldn't install libpciaccess0_0.10-1_i386.deb because the package
manager says a later version is already installed. Does these updated
packages confirm the fix for the rendering problem ? Anyone got the
issue solved using these packages ? But unluckly in my case, I
don't.

Please ask me if you need any more information. I'm happy to help

[Bug 310048] [NEW] Empathy dependecy conflict with telepathy-stream-engine

2008-12-20 Thread Sreejith K
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I tried to install Empathy (for voice chat) in Ubuntu Hardy from PPA.
But It seems to be some dependecy conflicts between the packages empathy
and telepathy-stream-engine. If empathy is installed telepathy-stream-

[Bug 305054] Re: [945G] Problems in Video Rendering

2008-12-16 Thread Sreejith K
I noticed that the problem is not present in my friends installation of
Ubuntu 8.10. He is also having Intel GMA945 builtin graphics but using
Intel D945 GCPE Motherboard whereas mine is Intel D945 GCNL. So the
problem is not limited to 945 drivers. Isn't it ? If you need anymore
information from his system I'm happy to post it here.

I repeat, I took the screenshots while playing (not paused) the video,
so the problem is too maximized in those screenshots. I'm not getting
that much ugly video, but its not a fine one either. Hope this bug
will be fixed up soon..

2008-12-16 Thread Sreejith K
When I took screenshots while playing the video in my friend's system, I

image capturing issue related to frame rates. But as for a human
perspective view, the video playing is much finer in his system than
mine...

[Bug 305054] Re: Problems in Video Rendering

2008-12-04 Thread Sreejith K
Hi Tom thanks for the tips.

But the flickering problem persists with all the video driver
configurations and also when compiz is switched off. I also changed the
refresh rate to 75Hz (using ViewSonic VA1703wb) where 60Hz was default.
But this didn't change the situation. I also had this problem with
Fedora 9 and OpenSUSE 11 installtions but not in Ubuntu Hardy. So it
might be because of some bugs in the upgrades (Video transperancy now
works with the xv driver. Earlier this was not possible) of the Intel
video driver. Isn't it ?

[Bug 305054] [NEW] Problems in Video Rendering

2008-12-03 Thread Sreejith K
Public bug reported:

I've installed the new Ubuntu 8.10 and found that the video rendering
(movies) in Totem and Mplayer (Or any other player) is poor. I'm getting
some off-positioned frames when playing the movies. I've attached a
screenshot of the issue (Things look not that bad as in the screenshot.
I took it while plaing the movie). In the earlier version of Ubuntu
(8.04) I didn't have this issue. But 8.04 had problems showing blue
lines in video window when a window (or menu) shows upon them, when
compiz was enabled. But this issue is now resolved in the latest
release. Hope these informations are helpful. I'm using Intel GMA945
buitin graphics and a Core2Duo processor with 1GB RAM. I'm using the
video driver as xv (which is the default)

I assume there should be some workaround for this issue...

[Bug 270025] [NEW] Screen Resolution Problem

2008-09-13 Thread Sreejith K
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I'm using Ubuntu hardy Heron and I have an Intel GMA 945 built in
graphics on Intel D945GCNL Mother Board. My monitor is ViewSonic
VA1703wb with native resolution of 1440x900. I'm getting the native
resolution without any problems. But when the screen resolution changes
during playing games , (after exiting the game) the native resolution
doesn't come back. When I run 'xrandr -s 1440x900' nothing happens as it
is not in the available lists. This problems does not happen always. But
when it happens I cannot use my native resolution. I have to shutdown
the PC for some minutes and then turning on gives back the native
resolution. Doing just a restart doesn't work fine. When I googled I
came up with some EDID problems regarding the Windows driver of GMA 945.
But there were no mention about Linux.

This problem also happens sometimes when starting the PC. When it occurs
the only way is to shutdown and start after a while...

Is this a driver issue ?

Any help is appreciated

[Bug 133564] Re: Swap fails to activate in gutsy

2007-10-13 Thread Sreejith M
Have the exact same problem. Its not a fstab/uuid issue. What I've
noticed is that when it fails and I do a sudo vol_id /dev/sda5. the
output has ID_FS_TYPE=suspend instead of ID_FS_TYPE=swap.

Once I do a mkswap and then add the new uuid to the fstab file, it
starts to work on reboot until for some reason the ID_FS_TYPE get set to
suspend again. Any chance this is related to hibernate ?
