[Bug 121439] Re: [Gutsy]Network Manager Applet can't connect wireless with ipw3945 driver
Don't we are talking here about the ipw3945 driver for intel wireless- cards? 1. it cant't be a solution to install *-386 restricted-modules. We are working the the *-generic kernel, aren't we? In Feisty different installed kernels (and fitting kernel-headers) doesn't disrupt NM at all. Or I am wrong? 2. it is not a problem of two different installed kernels, because the ip3945 driver doesn't even work with the desktop-cd in live-mode! [Bug 80778] Re: compiz does not show window boards or the cube
I am using the nvidia-glx driver from the feisty repos. Compiz seems to working very, very bad. decorator-plugin was in the list, but window borders work only partially. Sometimes they are all gone, sometimes I just see a part of them (left and right). Sometimes I can't see windows. They are in the panel, but I am not able to open it. The cube doesn't work with the default settings. You have to change two gconf-settings: /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize:4 /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/number_of_desktops: 1 I believe in the default settings, it's vice versa. Compiz seems to work very sluggish at the moment, at least for nvidia- users. If compiz works that bad for a lot of users, I think it's better not to include it. I only hear from Intel-users, that compiz works flawlessly. BTW: Beryl from the beryl feisty-repos works absolutely great and flawlessly. -- compiz does not show window boards or the cube https://launchpad.net/bugs/80778 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 96430] Re: MASTER: Request for new-legacy nvidia drivers (9631)
Go back to 9631 is a bad idea, because the new nVidia cards (8000) only work with the new 9755 driver. So updating was the right decision. The problem is, that now 3 trees of nvidia-drivers are available: 97xx - for newer cards (at the moment in nvidia-glx) 96xx - for cards in the "middleage" (no driver available in ubuntu) 71xx - for "historic" cards (at the moment in nvidia-legacy-glx). This driver provides 3d but no support for compiz/beryl. So the developers have to maintain 3 versions of nvidia-drivers. More work to do. [Bug 42600] Re: Microphone does not work on Dell Inspiron 630m
I am still testing and I think, I've catched the bad boy - it's GStreamer! I thought, my microphone doesn't work at all, but that's wrong. The microphone works absolutely correct with everything but GStreamer! That means, any GStreamer related software doesn't work. That's for instance, gnome-audio-recorder, ekiga or jokosher. In neither of these programs the microphone work. BUT it works with software, that doesn't require GStreamer. The microphone works perfectly with Audacity, Skype and even Ardour! It works also if I record something with mancoder in the terminal. So my guess it, that the HDA Intel Chip and Gstreamer have some problems with each other. The only gnome-program, that gives me an error is jokosher. It says: "GStreamer encountered a general stream error. gstbasesrc.c(1642): gst_base_src_loop (): /timeline/playbackbin/Click_Track_Bin/Click_Track_AudioSource: streaming task paused, reason not-linked (-1)" I am not sure, if this is an error which depends only Jokosher or GStreamer at all. -- Microphone does not work on Dell Inspiron 630m https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/42600 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 56090] Re: Regression: Webcams using pwc driver produce all-grey images
Uhhh... ok, I was afraid my webcam is broken I can confirm, only a grey picture in edgy. Until edgy it stopped working, now I know the reason. It's always frustrating if something worked in a previous Ubuntu version and crushed in the new Ubuntu version. Even you can't Ubuntu blaim for this. [Bug 58867] Re: [edgy] Kino 0.90-1ubuntu2 fails to startd
To this happens only, if I have the kino-plugins installed. If I only install the package "kino" without additional plugins, kino starts normal. [Bug 66589] [edgy] Restart takes much too long
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic It happens even on a fresh edgy install: the restart takes much too long, about 5 minutes. All goes well until "Will now restart". When the screen goes black and nothing happens. It takes about 5 minutes and the computer restarts. First I thought the system hangs completely, but it only takes very long. This happens every restart. The normal start-up and shut-down went well. I have an AMD64 machine with 32bit edgy, actual kernel 2.6.17-10-generic. And I dualboot with windows. [Bug 65291] [edgy] When onBoard Sound is disabled in BIOS, it's still available in edgy
Public bug reported: My system: actual edgy with GNOME I have two soundcards in my computer: onBoard sound and a PCI SB soundcard. I've got the onBoard Sound disabled in the BIOS. After the disabling of the onBoard Sound via BIOS, this souncard shouldn't be available in the Ubuntu-system, should it? But it's still there and working in Ubuntu. [Bug 65528] [edgy] Wrong icons - icons still in "progress" status, after a progress is done
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Often icons on the desktop or any nautilus window are displayed in wrong status. For example you made a screenshot of your desktop. There's a icon for the png-file. If the progress remains the icon for the file is shown with a clock-symbol. This icon should change in the normal thumbnail- icon if the progress is done. But the icon stays in the same status. Even if I reload the nautilus window. BUT - it's not every time. Sometimes it changes within the actual gnome- session, sometimes not. Maybe it depends on the file-size or file-type or the program which prepared the file? ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Tags added: edgy icons nautilus -- [edgy] Wrong icons - icons still in "progress" status, after a progress is done https://launchpad.net/bugs/65528 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
