[Bug 438273] [NEW] indicator-applet displays application descriptions only in English

2009-09-28 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

As you can see here http://imgur.com/8KPTI.png

The descriptions of applications are displayed in English rather than in
my native language. They used to be displayed in my native language when
the drop-down menu wasn't so wide and the text was cut-off, so I assume
that this is some sort of a regression. Those strings are all translated
in my native language in their respective applications, so the source
for them does exist.

I'm being told it's a bug in the auto-approver from the Launchpad 3.0

[Bug 438077] [NEW] update-manager's translation template is very likely not up to date again

2009-09-28 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

There's been some major changes in update-manager lately, but the
translation template does not reflect that. What's worse is that even
strings that have not been changed at all do not show up translated,
like "Your system is up-to-date" or "Package information was updated X
ago". Very few strings appear translated and none of the new ones are
available for translation.

Using latest karmic updated just seconds ago with the latest translation
update.

update-manager 1:0.125.4 , translation pack 20090926.

[Bug 436245] [NEW] gnome-control-center strings with any kind of formatting (bold, italics, underlined) do not appear translated in the UI

2009-09-24 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

None of such strings in gnome-control-center appear translated. All of its
programs have bold strings for category headers completely untranslated in the
UI. Look at:
gnome-appearance-properties (bold + here you additionally have the "Get more
backgrounds online" button which is underlined and does not appear translated)
gnome-mouse-properties (bold + here the text is also in italics that does not
appear translated)
gnome-display-properties (text in italics at the top)
gnome-about-me (bold)
gnome-keyboard-properties (bold + text in italics next to sliders)

Essentially, it seems gtkbuilder's gettext problems seem much more
serious than initially thought. This is a serious, visible issue.

[Bug 425011] [NEW] [karmic] alpha-5, crashes when you don't choose any Region/Zone and hit Forward on that screen

2009-09-05 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

It's easy to reproduce, just get alpha-5, and hit Forward on the "Where
are you?" screen.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why on earth aren't the Region and
Zone fields preseeded like they used to be, based on locale chosen in
the first installer step. It's not even consistent with the rest of the
installer behaviour, because it preseeds the keyboard layout choice
based on the locale.

With jaunty, to install Ubuntu I just hit Forward a couple of times
until I get to partitioning, now I have to choose my Region and Zone
from a long list. Even if I choose the "Europe" region it still doesn't
preseed the "Zone" field with my language. This is entirely unnecessary
work, it used to work fine, now it doesn't.

[Bug 425008] [NEW] [karmic] alpha-5, translation template is out of date, does not include new slideshow strings or encryption option

2009-09-05 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

The new slideshow strings are not available for translation.
Additionally, many other strings are not available for translation
either. Such as:

"Select your location, so that..."
"Zone:"
(probably "Region:" too, but it's the same in Polish so I can't be sure)
"Erase and use the entire disk"

All the buttons in manual partitioning:

"New Partition Table..."
"Add..."
"Change..."
"Delete"
"Revert"

The "Cancel" button when modifying a partition.

"Ext4 journaling file system" - from the list of available file systems
(all the rest is translatable)

"Require my password to log in"
"Require my password to log in and to decrypt my home folder"

All of them are very visible to the end-user, please make this a high
priority issue. A new, complete template needs to be imported to
Rosetta.

[Bug 325958] Re: Jaunty Alpha 4: Ubiquity windows does not fit on 1024x600 screen

2009-03-31 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
It does not matter if any vendor is currently selling such netbooks or
not. I don't think this is a reasonable condition upon which it should
be decided whether to support 800x480 screens or not. My notebook is no
longer produced, does that mean we should drop support for it? Just
because nothing was done to support those screens during the first
netbook boom doesn't mean nothing should be done now. Granted, it is a
small part of the install base, but they do exist and because of that
they should be supported. If this is too hard and/or late to do now it
should be deferred to Karmic, but it should be done.

[Bug 345344] [NEW] [jaunty] The "Shut Down", "Restart" and "Log Out" buttons do not appear translatable

2009-03-19 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

The entries in the drop-down menu are translatable, but when you click
"Shut Down...", "Restart..." or "Log Out..." the window that appears
does not have the titlebar string or the button string translatable.

Also, why don't the buttons have mnemonics? You can't use this without a

string, a bad practice I don't think I have ever seen before.

This tool should be either removed from the default installation or
