[Bug 1686254] Re: OpenVPN auto-connect options greyed out or missing for no reason
Going to the single VPN, I also once saw the "Automatically connect to VPN" menu grayed out and not selectable. Then I realized that you have to go to another normal connection (e.g. wired, Wi-Fi, etc) and select "General configuration" > "Automatically connect to VPN". https://askubuntu.com/questions/43465/how-to-automatically-connect-to- vpn-with-network-manager -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1686254 Title: OpenVPN auto-connect options greyed out or missing for no reason To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1686254/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 330833] Re: NetworkManager always overwrites default route when connecting to OpenVPN network
I also can reproduce this issue with NetworkManager of Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa (network-manager 1.22.10-1ubuntu2.2). If I create an OpenVPN server WITHOUT 'redirect-gateway' and if I use the command line OpenVPN client directly as-is, it works. It does NOT create a new default gateway (because I do not want it). /usr/sbin/openvpn --config file.ovpn Instead. If I import that configuration in Network Manager, the "use this connection only for resources on this network" is unchecked and probably that's the cause of the creation of a new additional default route, wrong for these cases. Any plan about how to fix this issue in NetworkManager? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330833 Title: NetworkManager always overwrites default route when connecting to OpenVPN network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/330833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1788520] [NEW] multiple boot problems if /usr is on a logical volume
Public bug reported: xubuntu 18.04.1 After standard installation with LVM, I created further LVs, namely for /usr, /var, /tmp and /home. The boot delays about 30 seconds waiting for /usr, this delay is caused by wait-for-root. Also, the /usr volume can not be defined by its label in fstab, it fails to find it at boot time. It seems both problem are caused because wait-for-root is called before the /usr LV is activated, adding "vgchange -a y" in "init" just before calling mountfs for /usr allows the boot to complete if /usr is defined by its label, and eliminates the delay if it is pointed by the /dev/mapper/ device. ** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1788520 Title: multiple boot problems if /usr is on a logical volume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1788520/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1538040] Re: Internal Hard drive extremely slow unless using barrier=0 on ext4
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I have a brand new laptop (Asus N551VW, i7-6700HQ, 16 Gb ram) on which i installed Ubuntu 14.04 64bit and a new Samsung SSD 850 PRO 512Gb (latest firmware). I installed the default MySql 5.6.27 on the machine but I noticed a very VERY slow performance of the database (just creating a db and executing some migrations without any data takes around 33 seconds while on lower-hardware co-workers notebooks it takes like 3 seconds). Every sql statement seems to spend most time in "system lock" state, as i could see with a SHOW PROCESSLIST. I thought it to be an hard drive issue, but executing the hard drive benchmark in Ubuntu gives 500 Mb/s read and 350 Mb/s write speed, which looks mostly normal. I also tried updating to the new 4.2 kernel, but the issue still there. To make an experiment, i cloned the ssd on a normal hard drive, switched it in and connected the SSD externally with an usb box. I moved mysql data directory to the external disk, and retried the db creation: it took only 2.5 seconds. Just out of curiosity i tried the same operation on an internal non-ssd disk: when the hd is plugged inside the laptop with sata, the database creation takes more than 2 minutes, while with the data dir on external usb (with the same physical disk) it took less than 10 seconds. To make it short, after some research, adding barrier=0 to the mount options of the root drive with no other modification caused the same script to take 1.5 seconds instead of 33, with a 22x increase in performance. I have opened his bug on askubuntu (http://askubuntu.com/questions/725182/ssd-extremely-slow-when-connected-with-internal-sata-ok-with-external-usb ) and it was suggested that this coud be an issue of the controller firmware/driver. The problem is present both in trusty's default kernel (3.19.0-47.53) and in the 4.2 (4.2.0-25.30). Let me know if you need more informations! [Bug 1538040] [NEW] Internal Hard drive extremely slow unless using barrier=0 on ext4
Public bug reported: I have a brand new laptop (Asus N551VW, i7-6700HQ, 16 Gb ram) on which i installed Ubuntu 14.04 64bit and a new Samsung SSD 850 PRO 512Gb (latest firmware). [Bug 1384973] Re: shim prints "Booting in insecure mode" when booting without SecureBoot enabled
In my setup, Asus Vivo PC vc60 dual boot with Windows 8.1, I have met this problem since I upgraded kubuntu from 14.04 to 15.04. Today I have tried to play with shim package and UEFI settings, finally I got rid of the message. I have done a lot of things, so this protocol might be redundant or wrong in some part, but you can try if you wish so. Uninstalling shim doesn't change anything in the boot message. so I went to UEFI options: - Changing the UEFI settings seems to work in this way: Secure Boot -> Windows UEFI enabled + Key Management -> Clear secure boot keys - Pay attention that the UEFI chooses the right boot loader order in Boot option priorities: there are two options to boot Ubuntu (they are grub related options) and I have experimented both, plus some options to boot directly into Windows (I suppose you are not considering these). - I reinstalled shim and updated grub, after that no more insecure Boot message. System can boot in kubuntu (my custom packaged 4.0.4 kernel and the 3.19.0 stock kernel) and in W8.1 without warnings and wasting time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1384973 Title: shim prints "Booting in insecure mode" when booting without SecureBoot enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shim/+bug/1384973/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 388547] Re: Volume keys don't work inside a full-screen game
There is a workaround for this. I used to use this on Debian with a small set of packages. Using acpid and amixer one can set an acpid rule to react at volume keys at a deeper level than the default sound daemon. Use acpi_listen to discover your key codes and write a script like this (for example when pressing volume up): amixer set Master 5+ This is more ALSA related, but pulseaudio will adjust its volume as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388547 Title: Volume keys don't work inside a full-screen game To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/388547/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
