[Bug 427754] Re: Missing the KTcpSocket class files, maybe others
How come the API docs at api.kde.org show the class to be part of at least KDE 4.0? http://api.kde.org/4.0-api/kdelibs- apidocs/kdecore/html/classKTcpSocket.html I have to tell you I am new at KDE programming. [Bug 92459] vmware-player broken after upgrade
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vmware-player I am running Ubuntu Dapper. Until now I was still using vmware with the 2.6.15-27 kernel because the vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-28 package was not available yet. Now vmware-player version 1.0.1-4 depends on vmware-player-kernel- modules, which depends on vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-28, but this package is not in the repository, so the install breaks. Currently it is not possible to install vmware-player, becuase one of the packages it depends upon is not in the repository. I found a workaround by installing an older version of vmware-player- kernel-modules (version 2.6.15.10-6) which depends on vmware-player- kernel-modules-2.6.15-23 (this package is in the repository), then installing vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-27 as well, and then installing vmware-player, which I am then able to run with a 2.6.15-27. Can anybody tell me why the vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-28 package is missing from the dapper repository? BTW, my sources.list is up to date, I was able to install vmware-player before. ** Affects: vmware-player (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- vmware-player broken after upgrade https://launchpad.net/bugs/92459 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 65494] Re: praat won't run when compiled from its source package
It is first necessary to determine the exact cause of the problem. The author of the package says that compiling with gcc-4.0 on MacOs X works without problems. It may be a library problem. What I'll do is set the status of this bug to confirmed, so the maintainer of the package can pick it up. ** Changed in: praat (Ubuntu) Assignee: Wim van der Meer => (unassigned) Status: Needs Info => Confirmed -- praat won't run when compiled from its source package https://launchpad.net/bugs/65494 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 65494] Re: praat won't run when compiled from its source package
Hi Jonathan, Thanks for the additional info. I downloaded the latest praat source code (file praat4432_sources.tar.gz) installed libmotif3, and compiled praat. I got the same problem as you described, i.e. praat just hangs using 100% of the CPU. >From your description it became clear to me that this was probably a compiler problem. Since by default gcc-4.0 is used, I compiled praat with gcc-3.4, (make sure you remove all *.o files from all the folders!) and then praat runs correctly. However, I am not sure if this is a bug in gcc-4.0, or if the praat source code uses a feature of gcc-3.4 that has been deprecated, but my first reaction is that it is likely to be a praat source code problem (I get many warning when compiling the code). I'd appreciate it if there is any additional info you might have (can you contact the author of the source code?) -- praat won't run when compiled from its source package https://launchpad.net/bugs/65494 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 66017] Re: Firefox spell checker has no dutch dictionary, eventhough I install dutch language support.
Ralf, Thanks for the clarification. You are right that the desktop controls the localization settings of firefox, that was my mistake (you can tell I am still learning!) However, I don't think this bug should be reported as a Firefox bug, because the Firefox package can not know your localization at the time you are selecting it for installing. The language-support-nl package takes care of spell checkers, dictionaries and such. I am changing the status of this bug to confirmed and changing the package name to language-support-nl. [Bug 49564] Re: Installer messed up the system clock time.
Hi Amit, I know it has been a while since you reported this bug, I hope I will be able to help you. In contrast to Windows, Linux computers have their system clocks set to GMT time, and the OS takes care of calculating the local time based on your time-zone settings. I think it is possible to have your system clock set to local time, but you will need to change the OS settings as well. Is there a specific reason for you to want to system clock set to local time? The only reason I can think of is that you have a dual boot machine with Windows installed as well. Is that the case?
