[Bug 1305769] Re: 0 singular and plural

2024-06-15 Thread Yaron
I think the right question in this case would be: is this code still used up to
this day?
I think the activity manager replaces most of what this tool did anyway so I'm
not sure it even requires fixing.
The last commit to this project was in 2017.

[Bug 1875062] Re: [20.04] Keyboard layout not enabled immediately during installation when typing username/password

2020-06-19 Thread Yaron
I think that there should be a way to select layout during installation
and even make a list of languages that should be optional after the
installation.

In Hebrew we have a different problem where Hebrew layout is
automatically selected and when we're trying to type the password for
logging in after installation we're being kicked out because the layout
defaults to Hebrew.

I think emphasizing the layout selection along this process will be more
beneficial for users that need to switch to their layout or switch to
English, maybe having some tooltip explaining how to switch keyboard
layout or some accessible button at the bottom or top of the screen
(just a suggestion, it's probably not that good).

[Bug 1872716] Re: Evince crashes when trying to open djvu

2020-04-14 Thread Yaron Artzi
Update #2: I don't know if this will be helpful information, but I managed to
open DJVU files with djview4 after setting the environment variable:
LIBDJVU_DISABLE_MMX=1 in /etc/environment.
This is apparently due to an issue in the package DjVuLibre. From what I
checked, this doesn't help with the issue in evince.

[Bug 1872716] [NEW] Evince crashes when trying to open djvu

2020-04-14 Thread Yaron Artzi
Public bug reported:

I tried to open a djvu file with evince. Instead of opening, the evince
window shows for less than a second, and then it crashes.

The djvu file is fine and opens well with evince 3.18.2 on ubuntu 16.04.
When I try to open the file through the terminal (with 'evince
') I get the output:
"Segmentation fault (core dumped)".

I also tried adding the 0633 id to include/linux/input/elan-i2c-ids.h in
linux kernel version 5.6.0-rc7 (compiled from source:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/archive/v5.6-rc7.tar.gz).

Also tried steps mentioned in this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1853277

My next step will be to try and update BIOS, but it would be tricky,
because Lenovo only provides BIOS update to be run in windows 10, and I
only have Ubuntu on my machine! I will have to install Windows10 on an
external device, run an update, and see if it helps.

[Bug 1869582] Re: Slides Move in wrong Way in RTL

I've investigated the code, apparently there is an RTL parameter set
which aligned the text to the right direction but the RTL parameter does
not affect the HTML slideshow which is loaded externally.

Is there a way to create CSS override using Python or we should think of
a different approach?

Running 'xinput -list' doesn't show the touchpad.
By running 'sudo acpidump | grep -C3 -i elan', I can see that my ElanTech

by the touchpad, and it should respond to touchpad clicks and scroll
gestures.

controlled by the touchpad, and it DOES NOT respond to touchpad clicks

[Bug 1838373] [NEW] DRM/Intel Black screen after grub

2019-07-30 Thread Yaron
Public bug reported:

According to the following bug there's still no fix available for
Ubuntu.

The problem is reproducible using Lenovo IdeaPad D330-10IGM, probably
only the N4000 based models (I've tried with N5000 and the screen is
rotated to the left and I need xradr to rotate it yet it's not blank).

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108826

I just wanted to make sure that the patch is included in Ubuntu, I can
help with testing.

[Bug 1697377] Re: Change TextBoxes Direction for RTL languages

2018-04-08 Thread Yaron
Contacting Ubuntu in that case won't do any good, try and invite some more
Persian and Arabic speaking members to this bug report and see how we can
tackle this, it's far bigger that the scope you initially aimed to.
We might need to go to the source (gtk+ I guess) and try adding this feature.

[Bug 1668903] Re: mongodump "too many positional options have been specified on the command line"

2017-03-01 Thread Yaron
** Description changed:

I can't run the mongodump utility in Ubuntu (from the internal
  packages).
+
+ Running without any parameters works BTW.

I tried running a dump this way:
  mongodump -u -p --host somehost.com:27017 -d some_db -o backup

  And I got this reply:
Error parsing command line: too many positional options have been specified
on the command line
try 'mongodump --help' for more information

Then I purged the package using:
  apt purge mongodb

And then added the official mongo repo as explained on the mongo website:
  https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-ubuntu/

Ran the same command again and voila! it worked.
I tried search for the "too many positional" error and found out it might
have something to do with some problematic minus or em-dash/en-dash but it's
not the case because I wrote everything manually and the same command exactly
worked with the official mongodb-org by mongo.

That solution does not work for me (Ubuntu Gnome 16.10), in fact

supposed to be temporary, meaning it does not persist across reboots.

Hi Alex, it got worse.
It used to start with "Illaliqa" (Goodbye), now it only starts with "Lliqa"

[Bug 1476510] [NEW] More than 3 DNS servers fails the Networking step

2015-07-21 Thread Yaron
Public bug reported:

While installing Ubuntu Server I got to the Network Configuration step
where I'm asked to specify which DNS servers I'd like to use.

In my case I wanted to go with 2 from OpenDNS and 2 by Google and added them
all like this (space is the delimiter):
208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

I got an error about that particular step, went back and removed the
last one, now it succeeded.

I can think of at least 3 ways to solve this:
1. Add an appropriate guidance text within the DNS selection screen.
2. Verify the input includes no more than 2 spaces (not consequent)
3. Both.

Since this is a Debian based package I think it would be appropriate to
fix this also upstream once we'll get to a proper solution.

Kind regards,
Yaron Shahrabani.

2014-08-11 Thread Yaron Artzi
I have the same or a similar problem on my hp pavilion dv6-6150ej.
Problem description:
On some occasions, when asking Ubuntu to suspend and closing the lid, the
computer stays on and does not suspend. When opening the lid the screen is
black and the computer doesn't seem to respond.
I have Ubuntu 14.04 Linux version 3.13.0-32-generic.
I don't know what other info you may require.

[Bug 1355134] [NEW] [HP Pavilion dv6-6150ej] Ubuntu 14.04 fails to suspend and display does not turn back on resume from suspend

2014-08-11 Thread Yaron Artzi
Public bug reported:

Problem description: When trying to suspend Ubuntu and closing the lid, the
computer stays on and doesn't suspend. When opening the lid and trying to
resume Ubuntu (i.e. by moving the mouse), the display stays black and the
computer doesn't seem to respond.
This problem does not occur on every suspend (most of them succeed without
problem). It only happens every once in a while.

[Bug 1233578] Re: [osk] Hebrew symbols revised

2014-07-16 Thread Yaron
I was thinking about overloading another character on this button:

CharKey{ id: dotKey; label: .; shifted: .; extended:
[?, !]; extendedShifted: [?, !]; anchors.right: enterKey.left; }

http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/5be/index.htm

CharKey{ id: dotKey; label: .; shifted: .; extended:
[?, !,־]; extendedShifted: [?, !,־]; anchors.right:
enterKey.left; }

Do you think it would be possible?

Kind regards,
Yaron Shahrabani.

Adding Geresh (U+05F3) - Often used.
Adding Gershayim (U+05F4) - Often used (for acronyms mostly).

I would push apostrophe and quotes down the hierarchy in favor of

[Bug 1323567] [NEW] Changing password does not change ecryptfs password

2014-05-27 Thread Yaron Sheffer
Public bug reported:

I changed my own password on the Gnome User Accounts applet. After
reboot, I could not access my home directory. It turns out the ecryptfs

Workaround: in single user mode, I used ecryptfs command to rewrap the

This list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_languages_by_total_number_of_speakers

Arabic in the 5th place with somewhere between 255 to 422 million speakers.
Urdu in the 13th place with 104 million speakers.
Persian in the 25th place with somewhere between 56.6 to 110 million
speakers.

Hebrew (not on this list and much less significant) with 5.3 million native
speakers not including Arab Israelis that use Hebrew on a daily basis.

require several weeks of full-time engineering work and it competes with
many other bug for the available resources. I can only offer apologies
