Public bug reported:

Hi,

[Bug 1577198] Re: Imported gpg keys do not show up in Seahorse 3.18.0

2016-06-17 Thread Adi
I posted some lines from the key storing files under
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/1588605

Seahorse stores imported key in a particular file when importing and takes keys
from a different when using them. It seems to have a relation with the new
gnupg-keybox-file *.kbx
[CODE]
adi@bluestar:~$ gpg2 --list-public-keys
/home/adi/.gnupg/pubring.kbx
[/CODE]

yes, seems to be the same bug.
meanwhile I think that it has something to do with the
/home/$USER/.gnupg/pubring.kbx file (*.kbx!). new storing file since this
distribution...

Seahorse imports keys into gpg-list at manual import and uses gpg2-list
as standard for all other operations.

The keys in gpg2 were automatically imported because they have signed my key.
All manually imported keys are imported into gpg-public-list.
Seahorse only provides you the keys in the gpg2-list. Where can i find the
configuration for this?

[Bug 1566828] Re: Suspension does not work, freezes the pc

2016-04-22 Thread Adi
Exact issue on my laptop too (Lenovo Y40-80). Updated from 14.04 to
16.04 yesterday, and when I used to close the lid before, the laptop
used to go to suspend mode, and wake up whenever I opened the lid again.
However, after upgrading to 16.04, if I close the lid, the screen just
turns back (while the system is still running), and when I open the lid
again, the screen remains black, and I need to hard reset (long pressing
the power button). Even on selecting "Suspend" from top right corner of
the menu, it shows the same behaviour.

Public bug reported:

The font I attached below is SGI Screen font by Nicholas Riley

I haven't checked the values after successful install. I can check and
let you know.

Are you saying that what I tried:
adding megaraid_sas.max_sectors=2048 wouldn't sustain on reboot ? and hence
forth might have issues rebooting and getting in on OS ?

Editing the boot options to include this string, seems to help install
15.04 onto disk behind avago controller without any errors.

megaraid_sas.max_sectors=2048

modprobe megaraid_sas max_sectors=2048

Doesn¹t seem to help either.

Re: [Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-24 Thread Adi Gangidi
Hello Bryan

I tried to your work around:

A) Go to the 15.04 installation partition screen to see all disks are
detected
B) Go to VT and check the values of nodes
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:00.0/:01:00.0/host4/target4:2:0/4:2:0:0
/block/sde/queue # cat max_sectors_kb
4096
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:00.0/:01:00.0/host4/target4:2:0/4:2:0:0
/block/sde/queue # cat max_hw_sectors_kb
4096
C) Set and cat

echo 1024 > /sys/block/sde/queue/max_sectors_kb
~ # cat /sys/block/sde/queue/max_sectors_kb
1024
D) Go back to Partition screen
E) Partition the Avago Partition
F) Partitioning and mounting fails with same error of mounting ext4
filesystem
G) I go and check back the value of max_sectors_kb and it gets back to
4096. Which basically means paritioning the disk is resetting this node.

~ # cat /sys/block/sde/queue/max_sectors_kb
4096

I am not sure what the commit is for exactly. But can you help build a
15.04 default image without it to check. Or suggest something else.

Thanks
Adi

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-14 Thread Adi Gangidi
Thanks a ton Boga! That hellps!

Bryan

Here is a difference between custom config of a Kernel version where bug
is NOT seen (3.18) and where it is seen (3.19)

https://www.diffchecker.com/kgudgvt3

There are bunch of config differences. Could any of these could have
cause the issue ?

One of the differences is related to SCSI below:

CONFIG_SCSI_DC390T=m  (it's there in 3.18 config but not 3.19)

Hope this helps in you giving a more concrete direction to us instead of
bisection.

thanks

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-13 Thread Adi Gangidi
As I mentioned in my Comment 18

I can't get further with bisection since:

I am at a bisect state between 3.16 and 3.19 where I can't generate a
Little Indian kernel deb package. (PPC64LE). All it generates is a
POWERPC deb. Console doesn't let me customize it in the config make
oldconfig stage,

So after 'git bisect' and checkout to bisected state

make -j `getconf _NPROCESSORS_ONLN` deb-pkg LOCALVERSION=-custom

now generates POWERPC arch images instead of PPC64LE.
For example:
linux-headers-3.18.0-custom_3.18.0-custom-2_powerpc.deb

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-13 Thread Adi Gangidi
1) Yes there is a consistent I/O error like the one i attached in my last
comment for v 3.19 and v 4.1 dmesg. This happens across multiple reboots
2)Yes, it was the I/O corruption that caused it.

Regarding what you recommended in C17 regarding installing 15.04 on SATA
and stuff. I am not sure why that is different from trying the 14.10 and
3.19 kernel which is giving the error anyways. I did try creating a new
ext4 partition in this 14.10 3.19 combination and running FIO on it
which gave me bunch of I/O errors.

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-12 Thread Adi Gangidi
1)
Even though I was able to boot up with kernels v3.19 or v4.1 smoothly. On
closer inspection of Dmesg logs. There is an I/O error during bootup for 3.19
and 4.1 which I don't see for v3.16 kernel. This error is similar to the one
we get in 15.04 installation to RAID.

Dmesg logs are attached

This gives me the basis for going ahead with bisection.

2) Further I had to forgo and re-build my environment since the build
seems to have gone into a bad state when was moving around some files
after upgrading kernel to v4.1.

BUT now, I am NO longer able to generate the custom .deb kernel
packages for PPC64LE arch.

Instead

make -j `getconf _NPROCESSORS_ONLN` deb-pkg LOCALVERSION=-custom

now generates POWERPC arch images instead of PPC64LE.

For example:
linux-headers-3.18.0-custom_3.18.0-custom-2_powerpc.deb

Am I missing something ? I was successfully able to generate kernel deb
packages yesterday for PPC64LE. I want to try and replicate that
environment so that I can go ahead with bisection

2015-08-12 Thread Adi Gangidi
Thanks Bryan

1)

I tried 14.10 with 4.1 Kernel and build seems to boot fine.

Apart from checking that boot-up happens fine, is there any other sanity
I need to check ?

2)
Here is diff between default configs from uptopic (left) and vivid (right) :

https://www.diffchecker.com/dpu3ggpv

Is there a key difference in config from above link: that's making you
think that configuration change might have been causing this issue ?

14.10 with 3.19 is NOT a failure. It boots up fine.

So am not sure now if a bisection makes sense at all.

Please let me know if you have any follow up experiments in mind.

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-08-10 Thread Adi Gangidi
Hey Chris

Is there anything else you'd want us to try regarding this bug ?

Boga seems to have been able to upgrade the kernel.

I have shown that in 15.04 live image also, partitioning and mounting a
ext4 File system returns an I/O error in above post.

Based on these findings can we start to bisect the change ?

Thanks
Adi

[Bug 1475166] Re: Ubuntu 15.04 Install Error with Avago Controller

2015-07-31 Thread Adi Gangidi
Hello Chris

Hi from Adi

Here is a update on my findings from 15.04 PPC64LE Live image:

I tried latest driver from avago 06.809.16. Preliminary every thing
looked okay: Creating, deleting and accessing RAID0 volume.

However, coming to particular error that we are facing that: 15.04
Ubuntu Disk Install blocked on Avago RAID Disk. That error, from logs
and console messages, has to do with mounting ext4 file system on Avago
Raid Disk. But as you can imagine it’s a bit hard to reproduce this full
install and debug. So I tried to reproduce that specific part of
mounting in live image with newest driver.

So basically I focussed to pin point on what’s causing that error:

a)I created a partition on raid disk (from Avago) with ext4.
b)Tried to mount the ext4

Doing so returns an I/O error, even in live image with Avago’s latest
driver . I pasted the commands below: and DMESG error at extreme bottom:

Procedure to reproduce this error:

To make it more simple to reproduce and debug: I booted to a Live Ubuntu
OS PPC64LE 15.04 Version:

And executed the following commands:

storcli64 /c0 /vall del force (delete virtual disk)

storcli64 /c0 add vd type=r0 drives=252:0-3 (Create new v drive)

storcli64 /c0 /vall start init force (Initiate the v drive)

2015-07-16 Thread Adi Gangidi
Public bug reported:

Hello Canonical Team

We are running to an issue installing ubuntu PPC64LE 15.04 full blown
image on our servers (with RAID controller). Installation hangs around
70% of progress.

An important part of our configuration is Avago RAID controller: 9361-8i
Firmware version we used is 4.300.00-4429, and the package is
24.10.0-0002.

IMPORTANT: It has to be noted that with same hardware configuration
14.10 full blown image installs fine.

Dmesg logs are attached:

Looking at dmesg logs point out that:

[Bug 1468089] [NEW] PPC64LE Ubuntu Live image creation: Issue installing nfs-common

2015-06-23 Thread Adi Gangidi
Public bug reported:

We’re in the midst of building an Ubuntu 15.04 based live image for our
OpenPOWER servers, which loads via petitboot, from across a network. We’ve run
into an issue, described below, with loading an nfs-common package.

I specifically am working to create Ubuntu live image for PPC64LE.

I ran into issues initially creating a live image in a machine that’s already
booted up with Live image. But now I am running into the same issue even with a
machine booted up with regular ubuntu image.

Details:

Ubuntu Release used: Vivid

Issue: As I follow the attached Live image creation process from line 2,
after I chroot into subdirectory with linux base system. I install a package
called nfs-common (Refer Line 29 of ‘attached' Live image creation process.
Also appended at the end of this email)

apt-get install nfs-common

After trying to install the above package, I am running into an issue where
“dpkg” gets corrupted when I am installing this package "nfs-tools" .

After this step, trying to remove and re-install nfs-common or installing any
other package does not work and throws out same errors repeatedly.

Below is a snippet

root@IBM-P8-2:/# apt-get install nfs-common

[Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed drive

I have written my finding which might be relevant this bug:

It is on Debian 8 "Jessie" though, but it should be close to Ubuntu

I hope this bug can be resolved soon since it has been open for so long
and it is affecting Debian, Ubuntu, and other derivatives also.

It is also happening on Unity, even if you set screen settings from AMD

[Bug 606238] Re: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others

2012-11-04 Thread Adi
I tested the patch on my 15R and found the same problems indicated by Miguel
Ramires (he tested it on a Vostro model): I quote from Miguel:
"- Pointer movement is, as described by FCG, kind of choppy. Sometimes it stops
moving and doesn't respond to input for a second or so. A little bit
frustrating, I might say.
- Also, movement is noticeable slower and doesn't respond to sensibility
adjustment in system configuration."
and I might add to this description:
- I have noticed that when moving the finger very slowly on the touchpad the
pointer does not move at all. I have to give it acceleration for it to move.
I am surprised to see a few guys here with Dell 15R tested the patch and say it
works fine. Are we the only ones that found these issues?

[Bug 1018346] [NEW] CTRL key = Primary ... sometimes

2012-06-27 Thread Adi Dobrota
Public bug reported:

freshly installed Ubuntu 12.04 and gnome-shell, using gnome with no
effects

gnome-control-center:
  Installed: 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2
  Candidate: 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2

left CTRL key seems to be "interpreted" as PRIMARY key, however it only happens
in certain enviroments
for example in firefox left CTRL + T does NOT open a new tab, it needs right
CTRL + T , however left CTRL + click a link DOES correctly open the link in a
new tab. Same key seems to be interpreted differently by the same application
(firefox in this case)

same thing applies to keyboard shortcuts - I defined CTRL + F1 = move window
to workspace 1, but only right control works, left control doesn't.
CTRL+ALT+T for open terminal works with left CTRL
CTRL+C or V for copy/paste does not work with left CTRL in any enviroment.

anyone else experiencing this?

no, this doesn't seem to me to be:

I think I have a problem with this message also on shut down:

"mount: / is busy."

I don't remember when it started to appear. I just realized this
messages yesterday. So, I google over looking for answer. I hope here is
the right place to ask.

Several ways I have tried:
1. I have uninstalled network manager and and reinstalled libc6. (just like
what Steven described on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/952315 ). Still, no
changes, the message still appears.
2. I have also tried:
$ sudo update-rc.d -f umountroot remove
$ sudo update-rc.d umountroot start 60 0 6 .

Also, no changes.

3. I have now network-manager_0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.1_amd64.deb installed on
my system, and the message still appears.

I don't really have idea about this, but here I attach my ps -f and losf -nP
output. Hope there will any help.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit.

Thanks.

[Bug 992365] Re: dmraid & partx-boot packages missing after 11.10->12.04 upgrade, system unbootable

2012-05-01 Thread Adi Pircalabu
Philip,

I can't give you neither the exact error message, nor to tell exactly when it
came up during the boot stage. To the best of my knowledge, the last boot lines
displayed were md related, after which the system was dropping to a busybox
shell. I can only *assume* it was failing when trying to mount the root
filesystem. And, as I said, after rebuilding initrd image with kpartx-boot
support the problem disappeared.
Here's the boot info output attached, hope it helps.

I was able to reproduce this bug using nvidia and intel driver, using

[Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported

2011-12-20 Thread Waluyo Adi Siswanto
I have the same problem in my Acer Aspire One Happy (Intel Atom 550, card
reader ENE technology) running Ubuntu 11.10.
It can be fixed by including "acpiphp" module in /etc/modules.
After rebooting, then reading memory card, just simply plug it in in the card
reader, and will pop up automatically.
I have documented the detail here:

[Bug 875509] Re: Can't change avatar Yahoo

2011-12-19 Thread Adi
I'm not sure I understand. What's the "vedio of the bug"? You want me to make a
video record? I'll do it, but I'm not sure how a video will help the bug report.
I can tell you the steps needed to reproduce the bug:
For the Avatar:
1. From global menu, open "Edit" -> "Personal Information";
2. Click on the "gray man" button, browse to an image file and select "Open";
3. You can see that the "gray man" icon is still there, it's not changed.
For the Alias:
1. From global menu, open "Edit" -> "Personal Information";
2. Edit the "Alias" textfield and click "Close" to close the dialog;
3. When opening the "Personal Information" dialog again, you can see that the
Alias value has not been updated.

[Bug 877233] [NEW] Launcher and panel are 100% opaque

2011-10-18 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

I start using Unity 2D on oneiric and very often the Unity 2d launcher
is 100% opaque.

I have attached a screenshot.

The launcher is not visible, but I can right click on it and I can also
launch items from the laucher.

It looks like the launcher and the panel goes opaque in the same time.

Please see attached screenshot.

[Bug 877209] [NEW] Windows from current workspace 'disappear' after setting 'always on top' on one of the windows

2011-10-18 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

If I want to set a window as always on top, it will no longer be
'rendered'. The window is still there and for example, if it is a
terminal I can still type commands, but I can no longer see it.

The other windows are also affected and the window manager is no longer
usable.

If a press "Alt+Space" the window manager menu is displayed and after
closing the window, everything turn back to normal.

2011-10-14 Thread Adi Roiban

As far as I remember, in previous version of Gedit, the embedded

In the latest version, it looks like it uses a custom profile and there

[Bug 840857] Re: Touchpad no longer working on Oneiric on Dell N3010

It looks like there is a problem with gnome settings.

The touchpad is working in the Login windows, but stops working after
the gnome session is started.

I looked at mouse and touchpad settings and touchpad is enabled.

Sorry for the noise.

Only now I saw comment 228.

I added dell_laptop.backlight=0 to kernel start options and it is now
working with the standard Oneiric kernel.

It was not required to use gnome-settings-daemon from the PPA.

Thanks!

I delete the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with 'Option "Emulate3Buttons"' and

timeout to short.
After this, the middle click emulation is working again.

No need to edit any xorg.conf files.

[Bug 771716] Re: middle click emulation not working

2011-04-28 Thread Adi Roiban
Here is the requested file. (It was taken on Maverick, but I hope it is
ok.)

Are there any drawback for enabling middle click emulation by default?

I have an external keyboard and mouse attached to the laptop. The touchpad from
the laptop has only 2 buttons.
In Natty, pressing the 2 touchpad buttons in the same time triggers the middle
click event. Pressing the 2 buttons from the external mouse does not trigger
the event.

In Maverick everything works fine.

[Bug 771733] [NEW] Menu is not revealed on mouse over for the secondary monitor

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-appmenu

I am using Unity 2d with a dual head setup.

When some windows are in the secondary monitor, the menu is not revealed
on mouse over. Nothing happens if I move the mouse over the window
title. Both primary and secondary monitors are unchanged.

This only happens for some applications.

For example, gnome-terminal and nautils are fine, but Evolution and
Epiphany are not working.

Thanks!

[Bug 771728] [NEW] new scrollbar - Autoscrolling is not working with mouse drag selection

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

I am trying Natty and in applications like Nautilus or Gedit where the
new scrollbars are enabled, when I try to select multiple icons or
multiple lines, when the selection reached the windows margin, the
windows viewport is not scrolled.

To reproduce this bug, try to open a long text file in Gedit. Then while
holding the mouse left button move it down to select multiple lines. Go to the
windows margin as when you would like to select more lines.
The view is not scrolled.

[Bug 771722] [NEW] The new dark theme from Natty has poor contrast

2011-04-27 Thread Adi Roiban
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I am switching from Maverick to Natty, and I found that the new dark
theme from the gnome-terminal is nice but it lacks contrast and makes it
really hard to locate the scroll handler.

I have also attached a screenshot... maybe this is an isolated bug and
everyone else has a good contrast.

Thanks!
