[Bug 115574] Nautilus crashes randomly on feisty, when opening folders.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Randomly, when i open my home or parent folders, nautilus crashes, telling me that i have to stop bonobo-server-activation service before being able to respawn it. Sometime it also crashes gnome-panel, this locks up keyboard and needs an hard reboot to be fixed. my system is a clean feisty install, its a pity is so much unstable worst than the most borked windows install.. i noticed the longest spree i had w/o crashes is 10h, sometime the crash of nautilus doesn't affect anything else but alot of swapping from hdd, disappearing icons on desktop and so on.. sometime instead freezes things up totally random.. it started around 1 week ago, i think around 12-13/05/2007 i don't remember if there was an update at that time.. [Bug 115004] Hisax module crashes gnome randomly
Public bug reported: I have an AVM passive isdn device, and i was trying to make it work for sending fax with my ubuntu feisty fawn, this didn't work in the end, so i switched to an online fax service, but i didn't uninstall all what i had installed-- after a few days i started to find my system hang w/o reasons: i come back in the morning and found that gnome-panel is not responsive anymore, i kill it but doesn't respawn.. then i try to go to tty1 but it doesn't work.. ctrl-alt-backspace does, i get back to login window, log in, and remain seeing a nice white screen instead of my gnome... from there the only way back is an hard reboot..no key combination work anymore.. all the programs that were running before it crashes keep running fine, but if i try to open new ones i just get an empty window... this happened a few times.. until i got tired and started to remove packages: i removed capiutils, capisuite and libcapi.. then i disabled the proprietary driver from driver manager but the system keeps hanging then i remember i had to modprobe hisax module rmmod hisax and the modules that depends on it, and my system is stable again, no more lockups. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Hisax module crashes gnome randomly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115004 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 79466] Very slow bootup and dns lost at every boot
Public bug reported: Hi i have a panasonic cf73 with edgy eft, some speed tweaks, prelink, readahead, preload. until i used only wifi to connect to internet everything worked i had to use ethernet to connect, from then , every bootup takes good 5 mins, every time even the terminal won't load before 4-5 mins, even if i go to tty1 and try to call for example sudo mc, hangs there until 5 mins have passed. This is very annoying, moreover the laptop loses dns at every bootup, so i have to wait 5 mins, then open networks, put the dns, and then i am able to use it.. sometime is VERY swift in loading, but usually after i delete .metacity and .nautilus, and only for that boot, then hangs slow again.. i tried to disable prelink, readahead, and other things, i tried to put fixed DNS as written in a post on ubuntuforums with no luck. Once the pc starts is very stable, but i can't stand those 5-6 minutes bootup time, looking at the gnome splashscreen, or at an empty desktop with no icons.. I forgot to add i also have compiz, starting it or not, has no effect, and is the last program to load usually. i am available to any test. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Very slow bootup and dns lost at every boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/79466 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 67993] Re: update-manager stops working after installing italian language.
i read the 67112, at me seems different. my update-manager works correctly, but doesn't install anything.. i click on install, it seems to work, goes shaded for a couple second, then back to the main page. doesn't try to install anything. apt-get upgrade works perfectly, as well as aptitude. -- update-manager stops working after installing italian language. https://launchpad.net/bugs/67993 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

i installed kernel source and symlinked to /usr/src/linux then issued sudo make i got an error that some options were missing and that panasonic-acpi.o was missing as well.. on dapper i was running pcc_acpi perfectly working no need to recompile it, worked out of the box.. -- Panasonic R4: hotkeys and s3 don't work in edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/62620 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
i am available for any testing on my system. just drop me a line and i can try, is not a production machine and i can try whatever on it. [Bug 63323] Re: Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73
found that PCC_ACPI is not loaded at bootup, sony_acpi is loaded instead. blacklisted sony_acpy and modprobbed pcc_acpi doesn't show any /proc/acpi/pcc so no hotkey or brighness support is available. moreover is impossible to change screen brightness since is in /proc/acpi/video/VGA0/LCD/brightness gconf has no effect on gnome power manager, tried to modify the battery brightness but still doesn't work. everything worked in Dapper so i don't know what happened now... -- Edgy eft beta and panasonic CF73 https://launchpad.net/bugs/63323 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
