[Bug 1056275] Re: unity auto-hidden launcher stopped revealing
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 931982 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931982 @om26er, thanks for suggestion, but playing with Launcher Reveal Pressure (in particular, setting it to 1) doesn't resolve my issue in fact, video mentioned above was recorded right after running unity --reset so I'd say duplicate status is wrong. Here's verbose explanation why: as far as I get issue described in #931982, users are unable to show launcher due to high pressure value. they get launcher shadow show up, but do not move mouse pointer enough to reveal launcher. my case seems different. referring to video I have recorded — when you see mouse pointer moving updown bumping left side of desktop, I was actually moving mouse left all the way. but I saw no launcher shadow, as well as any sign of launcher response. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1056275 Title: unity auto-hidden launcher stopped revealing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1056275/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

(In reply to comment #58) There may have been a time when that was the case, but this was filed by an Intel video user long before KMS was required by the Intel driver. Display used is 20 4:3 1400x1050 Viewsonic several years old. From your own log: [35.477] (**) intel(0): Display dimensions: (410, 310) mm [35.477] (**) intel(0): DPI set to (86, 86) ... (In reply to comment #63) The bug is marked general, not Intel. Various comments spoke of at least one other chip prior to my MGA comment 58. Before your comment 58 reached my eyes, I had to put that Intel host aside to work on the MGA host, so I used that to demonstrate what I wrote in comment 58, that always is incorrect. Fair enough. That said, I reread comment 6, which does indicate manual intervention via config file or xrandr is normally required to achieve accurate DPI, normal meaning ATI, Intel or NVidia, chips that have current version xrandr-supported drivers. I don't want to push too much, but up until now all feedback to this bug has been (or at least this is how it reads to me): - autodetection of DPI is deprecated - 96 dpi ought to be enough for anybody :) Does this mean you agree that under normal circumstances the DPI should be the one detected from EDID and 96 is just a fall-back value in case auto-detection fails? Because I don't believe anyone here disagrees 96 should be uses as *fall-back*, we just don't want it *overriding* correctly auto-detected values. (In reply to comment #74) Created an attachment (id=45751) [details] 120 DPI full 1600x1200 desktop screenshot This demonstrates the current state of elevated actual DTE DPI affairs, as of the release of openSUSE 11.4 about 5 weeks ago. Video chip is rv380. Driver is radeon. 120 DPI is achieved exclusively via DisplaySize in xorg.conf. Note that all apps are using the same font for the UI (urlbars, main menu), but that web browser viewports are of two schools: Thanks, I can confirm this with nouveau. However, as one can see in my attachment this has to be set for every monitor and then the correct Monitor section associated with the output. Kind of complicated if you often switch monitors... Wouldn't it make more sense to have a UseEDIDDpi option as already suggested above (and already used by nvidia)? [Bug 1008539] Re: Wrong volume binding when connecting bluetooth speakers
Oh wow - you explained this problem very well!! It has woken up my housemates many times. Huh ? @Klaus: Just use my first solution and it works pretty decent: By editing the /etc/pulse/default.pa we can load the pulseaudio module module-switch-on-connect to autoconnect to an audio sink as soon as it is presented to the pulseaudio sound server. We need to insert the following line load-module module-switch-on-connect PS: I've lost my hope to this cause. It will never get resolved guys, just face it, when there's not something important to fix, they just ignore it. It's easier this way. I'm sick of this attitude. Just apply the solution I found and be happy that there is such one, instead of not having a fix at all. Yes, I know that by doing this all the time, with all of the problems, Linux is STILL going to have 5% market share, but hey, what can you do, right ? [Bug 803631] Re: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV
I think I've got the same bug. A couple of weeks before I've hit this with Linux Mint also. I investigated then and the problem was that the network applet registered callbacks for events (network disconnection etc.) but failed to unregister them when the applet was unloaded. Because of this, the callbacks would be called again with freed memory addresses as parameters. Steps to reproduce: Open gnome-control-center, and after that the network panel. Toggle the wired connection ON-OFF (I have a wired one), then OFF-ON. Exit network panel to gnome-control-center and then reenter network panel. Crash. From what I remember using Valgrind took a couple (4, 5 at max) of entering, exiting the network applet before a crash would occur. Using the Ubuntu compiled version would get me a crash directly. I'm using Ubuntu quantal (development branch) AMD64, gnome-control- center 3.4.2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/803631 Title: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/803631/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 954951] Re: Rhythmbox doesn't resume after Pause from a CD track
Andrei, much of what is on Ubuntu is community driven, so the people that handle most of the bugs in the Linux ecosystem are doing this without payed for. WOWWW THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS OF THE YEAR !!! WHO WOULD'VE KNOWN :faceslap: The distro is also backed up by quite a big corporation, so this is NOT an excuse. NOT at ALL ! Search for Ubuntu become developer(guides and tutorials are there) and give youself a try is my suggestion(I am also affected of this bug). Have you stopped to think for a couple of seconds (just a couple) that MAYBE SOME people using this distribution (or any other distro for that matter) are ALREADY developers ? And that SUBSEQUENTLY, they DON'T have TIME OR are just NOT INTERESTED in investing minutes/hours debugging some weird ass bug just because the software development model being used by the OS is just fucked up ? You didn't think now, did you ? Thought so.. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954951 Title: Rhythmbox doesn't resume after Pause from a CD track To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/rhythmbox/+bug/954951/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 944355] Re: Audio is broken on resume from Sleep in 12.04 on Asus UL50AG notebook
Would it make any difference ? Because I'm starting to question the usefulness of all these procedures, as I've seen tens of bugs from 2+ years ago, still unresolved. So OK, let's assume you find the right version that contains the regression; how long does it take to resolve it ? 2 years ? 5 years ? 10 ? More ? Never ? Probably the last. In this case, I've lost all hope in open-source-ing... at least this type of it. And that's shame. Because at the same time, I hate all the corporate bullshit packed with Windows/OS X. And where am I standing then ? Well, between a half/quarter backed distribution and 2 OS'es that make me wanna puke every minute I use them. Disgrace to the whole software industry... I'm retiring. This is a complete waste of time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/944355 Title: Audio is broken on resume from Sleep in 12.04 on Asus UL50AG notebook To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/944355/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1008681] Re: Bluetooth not reconnected on resume
All seems to be fine with the last batch of updates, except for the LOUD bump in volume when connecting manually.
