[Bug 518325] Re: Murrine configuration option gradients is no longer supported and will be ignored

2010-02-26 Thread dashua
Dust had already been updated upstream in the 0.5 series. I'll prepare
a merge proposal for gnome-themes-ubuntu later today with the updated
version. Albatross is done and committed upstream, but we're testing
various configuration options via murrine.

[Bug 478016] Re: Fine-tune window animations to be clean, quick, and consistent

2010-02-06 Thread dashua
You should really consider lowering the opening/close animations to 200
and minimize to 300. The animations are so quick at this point they
seem to stutter. I have a decent graphics card and have been running
Compiz some time. These settings are quite nice. This gives a nice
transitioning open/close effect similar to the iPhone and Palm Pre.
Overly quick does not necessarily always look and feel better.

[animation]
s0_open_durations = 200;200;80;
s0_close_durations = 200;200;80;
s0_minimize_durations = 300;

[Bug 444421] Re: Login button is smaller than the Cancel button in the GDM theme

I added an updated branch that has the button style, bg entry and glow
as the original mock up. Please let me know if this is what was planned
as I can tweak the theme some more? More glow can be easily added to
the buttons if needed. Cancel and login buttons are the same as in the
mock up with the cancel having an insensitive look.

[Bug 422511] Re: problem with new scrollbar in Human theme - GtkRange::trough-border set to 2

2009-09-01 Thread dashua
That is bug in the murrine engine and the trough-border was increased to
elimate a bug in Firefox. I myself, personally, never use the murrine
engine for theming my scrollbars, as you are very limited. The only
detrimental effect is the loss of system-wide color theming to the
scrollbars. Pixmap scrollbars scroll faster and smoother contrary to
popular belief that the pixbuf-engine is slow.

The was referenced in an earlier bug report.

I can certainly confirm this is the case, but I just want to make sure that
this isn't on purpose and that setting
rgba = FALSE won't change anything else that it shouldn't before uploading the
change. Subscribing the theme's author.

Andrew,

This was a personal preference that was inadvertently added and not
reverted. The default should be FALSE. I pushed the changes upstream
(rev. 21) along with minor enhancements (highlights) to the metacity.

[Bug 409897] Re: pulseaudio crashed with SIGSEGV in calloc()

2009-08-17 Thread dashua
All of the test packages were contiuously crashing pulseaudio causing it
to restart while event sounds were activated and a stream of music was
simultaneouly playing. All of the test packages from Ubuntu Audio Dev
team PPA continued to crash. I had a sneaking suspicion the crash was
due to the event sounds as I am using sound-freedesktop-theme, which
incorporates many additional event sounds utilizing libcanberra. The
crashing continued with pulseaudio from master as well. I rebuilt
libcanberra from source with the login patch applied from git master
with pulseaudio from master and Ubuntu PPA test packages and there has
not been a single crash.

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult

2009-08-09 Thread dashua
Please test this theme I'm working on and see if the usablility is
easier to resize on the right and left edges as well as the bottom. I
will port this metacity over to a more human feel, but for testing
purposes I have modded the Impression metacity. Let me know what you
all think of this. If this works, I will work on porting over the
changed to the Human theme.

Metacity. This is apparent in metacity _:2.25.144-0ubuntu1 (jaunty), a
downgrade to metacity_2.25.89-0ubuntu1_amd64 reconciles the issue. This

[Bug 322344] Re: Distortion in active audio when using system sounds

I can confirm that the patch from libcanberra clears the distortion.
Clean install of Jaunty 64 (A4), testing ext4, and immediate
crackling/distortion when enabling the event sound. Installed the patch
log out/ / in, the distortion is gone. This should be be commit should
be cherry oicked if there isn't a .1 release in the imminent future for
libcanberra. This bug will cause significant reports as many people now
enjoy their event sounds.

[Bug 322344] [NEW] Distortion in active audio when using system sounds

2009-01-28 Thread dashua
Public bug reported:

The most recent update of libcanberra causes distortion when playing
audio (Banshee, Rhythmbox, etc) and utilizing system sounds. For
example, I have minimize sound, closing sound ,etc, and when the sound

sound. The is a regression with libcanberra 11 and this did not occur
with 10. Also, the if you keep the login sound in gnome- session
(/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id=desktop-login --description=GNOME
Login) activated the Ubuntu login sound now works with libcanberra 11,
but inhibits the entire sound system and no sounds works at all.

fixes the distortion issues with system sounds.

Disable the GNOME-Login-Sound from session for now, log out, log in.
Sounds will be restored, but you will get the distortion issue listed
above. The patch fixes both issues. However, the volume is extremely
low when running /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id=desktop-login

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 315780 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315780

udev (137-1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
- udevadm test no longer has force option.
- udevd has --resolve-names=early|late|never option.
- Group of IDE CD-ROM drives fixed. LP: #315997.
- Group of DRI subsystem fixed. LP: #317430.
- /etc/udev/rules.d not existing is not an error. LP: #315780.
- Bug where device nodes would be replaced by symlinks on rename has been
  fixed. LP: #315979.

  * Use --resolve-names=never in the installer and initramfs, since we don't
have a useful name service. LP: #319199.
  * Since we don't have to worry about group lookup, we may as well copy the
default rules into the initramfs as well. This actually double-solves
LP: #315979.
  * Make sure the root filesystem is writable before attempting to copy
generated rules across. LP: #224870.
  * Remove /dev/MAKEDEV symlink; the FHS no longer requires it when /dev
is automatically managed.

  * It is not permitted to call udevadm trigger or settle during an upgrade
without depending on udev. Attempting this will fail.
  * Change /etc/init.d/udev restart to actually restart the daemon, with a
bit of detection to print a warning if we missed events while the
daemon was down.
  * Refreshing /dev is now /etc/init.d/udev refresh-devices
  * Restart udev daemon after upgrade. LP: #317944.

  * The GTK UI now shows column headers, so that it is clear what the
tick column means. (No bug reported about this explicitly, but it
has come up repeatedly.)
  * Support for whitelists in /etc/cruft-remover.d/*.whitelist added.
See the cruft-remover(8) manual page for details. This can later be
seeded with the most common third-party packages, until dpkg+apt
get sufficient meta data to deal with this in a better way.

[Bug 290506] Re: cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards)

2008-11-11 Thread dashua
zoomy,

Built uvc from source (trunk branch)

svn checkout svn://svn.berlios.de/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk

cd trunk
make

Then run this command via terminal:

sudo install uvcvideo.ko -v -m644 /lib/modules/$(uname
-r)/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko
sudo make install
sudo cp -av /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko

sudo depmod -ae $(uname -r)

2.6.27-8-generic). Not sure if that made a difference, but Cheese did
not work until I rebuilt the uvc module from trunk and added it to the

[Bug 33214] Re: gnome-screensaver restores default color-correction settings

2008-10-14 Thread dashua
This should be backported from Intrepid. The bug is gone.

[Bug 273507] Re: No sound effects play when play sound effects when buttons are clicked is enabled

2008-10-13 Thread dashua
Just an F.Y.I., fresh install of Intrepid 32 bit. I added the above
schema gconftool-2 --install-schema-file=libcanberra.schemas from
libcanberra-0.10 without building the new version and most of the system
sounds are working for me. The only one that seems to be missing is a
click event from the menus (application menu, Epiphany bookmarks, etc.).
All the pulseaudio defaults as well.

[Bug 273507] Re: No sound effects play when play sound effects when buttons are clicked is enabled

2008-10-10 Thread dashua
kaij74,

Thank you, libcanberra 0.10 is working flawlessly with the latest
pulseaudio version in Ibex. I'm us 64 bit version. I recommend this
for an upgrade to get event sounds working again. I am still testing
but all seems to be working as normal.

As kaij74 stated: The libcanberra.schemas file must be loaded manually
from your build tree gconftool-2 --install-schema-
file=libcanberra.schemas

kaij64,

What flags did you use for installation of 0.10? I built and installed
from source with no problems, but there was no gconf entery under
/schemas/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/gtk-modules.

[Bug 263184] Re: wl driver doesnt work with kernel .27-2 and broadcom chipset

2008-09-07 Thread dashua
Confirmed for a BCM 4328 (Dell XPS m1530), which does work in Hardy. Wl
driver shows up in restricted drivers manager, but does not show in
network manager.

2008-08-10 Thread dashua
http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php

That is the driver that works which has also been added to linux-
restricted-modules-2.6.24.

2008-08-10 Thread dashua
The Broadcom driver for 4318 works flawlessly on the BCM4328. I
installed it via restricted drivers manager on Hardy and built the LKM
on Intrepid. Better signal strength, connects fasters on start
up/suspend.

[Bug 252084] Re: wl driver enabled after update to 2.6.24-20, can't connect to network with BCM4328

2008-08-03 Thread dashua
This was a first for me as well. I've been running Hardy since Alpha 5
using ndiswrapper and with the recent updates to linux-restricted-
modules-2.6.24-20-generic my Broadcom BCM4328 is showing in the
restricted drivers manager as wl driver. My network is visible via
network-manager, but I can not connect as well WPA2.
