[Bug 230780] [NEW] Broadcom glitch in 2.6.24-17
Public bug reported: pertinent lspci output: Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 01) Wireless worked flawlessly under the -16 generic kernel with this integrated card. Update to -17 generic appears to have broken something. APs are visible, but connection fails. Even to unsecured APs... Took the lazy way out and reverted to use of -16 kernel so I could use my wireless. Just ask if more info is needed. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Broadcom glitch in 2.6.24-17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230780 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 226339] Re: bullets cover text
Checked out the pdf on my hardy install, looks perfect (aside from the leftist-pandering content). =) Not so sure we have a bug here, but I'll leave that call to a dev. -- bullets cover text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226339 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 222032] [NEW] gconf-editor (Hardy) will not allow trash icon on desktop despite selection
Public bug reported: Bug #201206 is shown as fix released, however the condition still remains. Filing a new bug report. gconf-editor still disregards user's choice to show the trash icon on the desktop. Very annoying. I have attached a screenshot for your viewing pleaseure. I did not launch gconf-editor via terminal using sudo. Launched it from the gnome menu after editing the menu to show the tool. A lot of gconf-editor bugs are being marked as Invalid, when indeed they are not. Please take a closer look before invalidating these reports. gconf-editor works flawlessly in this regard under Gutsy, so something had to have fallen through the cracks in Hardy. Thanks! ** Affects: gconf-editor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gconf-editor (Hardy) will not allow trash icon on desktop despite selection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222032 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222032] Re: gconf-editor (Hardy) will not allow trash icon on desktop despite selection
No difference whatsoever. Tell me what detail you need, please. I thought my first report was pretty clear... The strange thing is the difference between my Gutsy install on my notebook and my Hardy install on my desktop. Using gconf-editor on the notebook allows the trash icon to appear on the desktop- screenshot attached. Both systems are running compiz and are configured very similarly in application selection, etc, aside from kernel and release, of course. I wouldn't call this a high priority item, but it should work the same way across releases. Two systems setup much the same way and functionality disappears between releases would seem to indicate something fell through the cracks. The second screenshot should help make this clear. [Bug 222032] Re: gconf-editor (Hardy) will not allow trash icon on desktop despite selection
Just to clarify, selecting and de-selecting the option to show home, volumes, network and computer on the desktop all function as expected on both 7.10 and 8.04. Only the trash icon visible option refuses to play nicely in 8.04. -- gconf-editor (Hardy) will not allow trash icon on desktop despite selection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222032 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222032] Re: gconf-editor (Hardy) will not allow trash icon on desktop despite selection
OK. This may help. I just did a fresh install on my test machine and the trash icon works fine. The desktop system that's giving me grief was upgraded from a Gutsy install. Something must've been botched in the upgrade process. Is it possible an old setting is conflicting on the upgraded box? If this is a bug, it may only affect dist-upgraded systems... Or I may just be lucky.
OK. Looks like it may be an issue caused by switching resolutions. When I checked on my wife's login, behold- trash icon works as expected. When I logged back in to my account, I caught a glimpse of an icon before the bottom panel loaded, VERY low on the screen, just the tip-top of the icon. So... I switched up from my native resolution of 1440x900 to 1600x1200 and sure enough, the trash icon was hidden off screen, well below the bottom Gnome Panel on the 1440x900 res. Proposed Solution: Disallow icons outside the visible desktop or under the panels. This is probably not a gconf-editor bug, appears to be a Desktop Bug. My desktop does work as expected now, so I'm a happy camper. Should we open a new bug for this? I have a feeling I am not the only one to be bitten by this. I am going to humbly mark this one as invalid myself and if you think a new bug report should be placed, assuming one hasn't been submitted already, I'll be happy to do so. My apologies for wasting your time on this. I will check back for instruction.
