[Bug 1242217] Re: package mumble-django 2.9-2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1

2013-10-25 Thread dyna
Same for me, had a working install on unbuntu server 13.04.

Even purging the package fails, i had to comment the db_purge from the
postrm script to be able to purge it. But even after purge/debconf
purge/removing related python packages it will still give an error on
reinstall and needs db_purge to be commented again to be able to be
purged again.

It does however install just fine on a other servers upgraded to 13.10
which never had mumble-django installed. And my servers are puppet
managed so there should be no difference between installs.

Error:
dpkg-statoverride: warning: --update given but
/var/lib/mumble-django/mumble-django.db3 does not exist
dpkg: error processing mumble-django (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mumble-django

The db does not exist error is also returned by a fresh install on 13.10
so i guess that's not the problem. There must be something left after
package purge.

Anyone knows how to trully reset/purge mumble-django install so it can
be installed fresh again?

[Bug 924247] Re: KVM - reboot VM problem

2012-02-01 Thread dyna
Guess i was wrong about the virtio_net part. The VM i changed to e1000
just hung at reboot.

Now it hung right before:

[0.664434] virtio-pci :00:04.0: irq 40 for MSI/MSI-X
[0.664467] virtio-pci :00:04.0: irq 41 for MSI/MSI-X

I'll try some combinations of virtio drivers on different vm's to see if
i can narrow it down to a certain driver.

[Bug 921609] [NEW] virtio_net hangs guest on reboot

2012-01-25 Thread dyna
Public bug reported:

I've had this bug for some time now. From ever since i started to use
KVM on 10.04 until now 11.10 and all versions in between. Also on
numerous hosts with different hardware. And with both linux and windows
guests.

VM's are working fine, but on reboot they hang. They have to be running for
some time though. VM's running for 10 days or more have a 90% possibility of it
happening. But it almost never happens on freshly booted VM's.
Also when a VM hangs in boot, 1 core on the host goes to 100% cpu and
virt-manager can not connect to the host anymore.

When already connected to the console of a linux guest with virt-manager (since
you can't connect anymore when it's hanging), you can see the kernel boot hang
right before virtio-pci would normally load virtio_net:
[0.865019] virtio-pci :00:03.0: irq 42 for MSI/MSI-X
[0.865044] virtio-pci :00:03.0: irq 43 for MSI/MSI-X
[0.865069] virtio-pci :00:03.0: irq 44 for MSI/MSI-X

00:03.0 is indeed the virtio_net:
00:03.0 Ethernet controller: Red Hat, Inc Virtio network device

Sometimes after a long wait time the VM does boot, although i can't
really confirm that now since it's been a while i actually waited and
not just kill it right away. But we're talking about hours. Fastest i've
ever seen it happen was more then 30 minutes. And i've seen cases where
a (non critical) windows server that got rebooted by windows update hung
for more then 1.5 day before i killed it.

Never ran into the problem when booting VM's that where powered off.

[Bug 884743] [NEW] --inet=10023 binds to ipv6 only on oneiric

2011-11-01 Thread dyna
Public bug reported:

After updating to oneiric, postgrey will only bind to ::1, not to
127.0.0.1. default localhost resolution seems to be changed to ipv6.

In the README.Debian however, the advised way to use postgrey is:
check_policy_service inet:127.0.0.1:10023.
This will result in postfix not being able to connect to postgrey.

settings --inet=127.0.0.1:10023 in /etc/default/postgrey fixes the

[Bug 818177] Re: boot failures because 'udevadm exit' times out while udevd waits for an already-dead thread

2011-10-26 Thread dyna
Same problem here, ML350 G5

Funny thing is that after the update from 11.04 to 11.10 i had no
problems booting, just no network as described in bug 842560. Booted
without network about 3-4 times with succes.

To try and fixed that i upgraded the firmwares using the hp firmware CD 930.
(which seems to work with a 11.10 desktop boot CD).
After this i ran into the killing modprobe / read-only fs problem. And i didn't
get the system to boot correctly once since then.

Since everything was backed up i decided to start with a clean 11.10
install, but ran in to the same problem.

Tried to replace the 'udevadm control --exit' in /scripts/init-
bottom/udev with 'pkill udevd', but it has no effect.

Guess trying to downgrade firmware's is next, but since hp only supplies
seperate windows packages that will take a while...

Sorry, updates the wrong initramfs. pkill does make a difference, but still
doesn't give a booting system.
It does get further and i did see some nbx2 firmware errors again, which i
didn't see before using pkill.

The fix in #17 however works: http://paste.ubuntu.com/679222/

Adding the following lines to init-bottom/udev:
. /scripts/functions
wait_for_udev

And i have a booting system with network.

[Bug 865686] Re: 11.10 libvirt-bin upstart script doesn't shut down vm's

2011-10-05 Thread dyna
I already reinstalled the test systems with 11.04 so i can't send logs
anymore.

acpid was installed on the VM's and shutdown was confirmed by both the
shutdownlog and visual confirmation of the VM's shutting down. One test
VM was a ubuntu 11.04 desktop install that pop's up the gnome shutdown
dialog with a 60 second timeout. The host reboot/shutdown would happen
without the timer actually decreasing.

I tried to run the script manually, after commenting out the first
runlevel check, and the shutdown worked fine and waited for all VM's to
be shutdown before exiting. (After setting a higher timeout, as 30
seconds is not enough for the 60 second gnome timeout).

But after some more testing i got the idea it was actually a general
upstart problem as it didn't wait for corosync to shutdown as well. The
system shutdown happends about 20 seonds after issuing the host
reboot/shutdown command, which seems to be some upstart timeout. (And i
did test without a corosync/pacemaker/drbd setup to make sure it also
happens with libvirt/kvm only).

Maybe something went wrong with the update from 11.04. The conversion to /run
was also not done right by the upgrade and i had to fix that manually. So maybe
it's related to that.
The systems where pretty fresh though. They where installed with 11.04 last
week and fully updated. After i ran in to some issue i tried the upgrade to
11.10 to see if it would help and ran into this.

[Bug 865686] [NEW] 11.10 libvirt-bin upstart script doesn't shut down vm's

2011-10-03 Thread dyna
Public bug reported:

11.10 has an updated /etc/init/libvirt-bin with code to shut down VM's.
However it seems that upstarts doesn't wait for the script to end and just
reboots the machine while the VM's are still being shutdown.

Others who use a custom vm shutdown script already noted this problem with
upstart, however i couldn't get their solutions to work:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/36855/upstart-pre-stop-killed-during-shutdown
http://sebastian.marsching.com/blog/archives/112-KVM-and-Graceful-Shutdown-on-Ubuntu.html

I tried setting a kill timeout as suggested in the first link, but that seems
to be ignored.
The first link also recommends using stop on starting rc RUNLEVEL=[016], but
this is already set in the new version of the upstart script. So why is it
being killed?

[Bug 665796] Re: Intel Core i7, nVidia proprietary - Timer interrupt freezes, system becomes sluggish

2010-11-19 Thread dyna
Problem still occurs with clocksource boot options, it just doesn't seem
to get triggered by my testcase.

With clocksource option it takes about 5-6 hours before it first occurs
with testcase running, however after the first occurence my testcase
seem to trigger it very fast again (under 5 minutes).

Well anyway since my testcase is a real world case for me it, it's some
progress. But i guess it's not really useful for anyone else.

The problem also doesn't exist in newer kernel's btw. But my system has
problems with several crashes with 2.6.36 mainline, 2.6.36 natty sauce,
2.6.37-rc1 natty sauce. (Witch i tried to get stable for weeks before
returning to .35).

[Bug 665796] Re: Intel Core i7, nVidia proprietary - Timer interrupt freezes, system becomes sluggish

2010-11-17 Thread dyna
I think i have found a fix for my interrupt timer freeze, but need more
testing to be sure.

After having tried several kernel boot options without succes (irqfixup,
irqpoll, noapic) i ran into this 2 year old thread:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8300 which suggests
clocksource=acpi_pm in the last post.

After booting with this option dmesg noted: Override clocksource acpi_pm
is not HRT compatible. Cannot switch while in HRT/NOHZ mode, and cat
/sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource still
returned: tsc

But strangly enough it did seem te fix the problem. I ran the system for 2x1.5
hours without problems with heavy io and audio/video, which would normally
trigger the problem within 15 minutes.
I compared dmesg's and 2 mem ranges seem to be slightly different.

After digging up some more information about clocksource i changed it to
hpet, since my bios supports 64bit hpet. And this also seems to work.
Running for 3+ hours atm. Seems to be the best option anyway since my
bios supports it.

I also tried to disabled hpet in the bios and boot without clocksource,
but the problem was still there, but i guess without the option it is
not using it as timer as default (yet?).

[Bug 665796] Re: Intel Core i7, nVidia proprietary - Timer interrupt freezes, system becomes sluggish

2010-11-16 Thread dyna
Same problem here, i7/nvidia as well.

The problems started after the xorg 1.9+nvidia update in the maverick
beta. And was still there on a fresh maverick install after release.

Some discussion about this was also done in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/649809
Which also seems to be a problem specific to i7/nvidia/ssd, and for me started
also after the xorg/nvidia update.

[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly

2010-11-02 Thread dyna
#68 worked for me as well, also on ssd.

Strangly enough though the problem did went away for me at some point,
not sure when though as i used a kill/restart gnome-settings-daemon
startup application and harly use nautilus. I just noticed that right
click was right again and disabled the start script. Then when i
installed the 260.19.12 nvidia drivers last week the problem came back.

[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly

2010-10-20 Thread dyna
Same problem here. i7 920, 8800GTS640
To reproduce: Directly after fresh install wait for the hardware driver popup,
install nvidia-current and reboot: no theme

I also had the problem with the beta/rc which seems to have begun after
the xorg 1.9 update.

And i also seem to suffer from the high system/kernel cpu slowdown
problem as described by #37 and in some forum posts, does anyone know if
there is a bug report for that one yet, couldn't find one.

My notebook, which is upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 doesn't have these
problems. T7100, 8600GM

[Bug 658379] [NEW] Maverick AMD64 Theme settings not recalled

2010-10-11 Thread dyna
Public bug reported:

Theme settings are not recalled / unstyled themes after installing
nvidia-current on a fresh 64-bit 10.10 installation with a nvidia 8800GTS 640.
Tried twice to make sure: Install, reboot, wait for hardware driver popup,
install nvidia-current, reboot.

Also reported on forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1587238 (see screenshot)
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1588909

I also had the same problem on 10.10 beta/rc after the xorg 1.9 update. Only
about 1 of 25 boots the settings would load.
Thought i fsck'ed the xorg update and was not expecting to see it again in the
10.10 final.

Temporary fixes:
-In .gtkrc-2.0 put the next 2 lines to start the default theme, does not work
on custom themes however:
include /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
gtk-icon-theme-name = ubuntu-mono-dark

-Create a startup application with (maybe needs a sleep)
sh -c 'killall gnome-settings-daemon ; gnome-settings-daemon

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9932580postcount=20 mentions
something about the Raleigh theme being default with nvidia?

[Bug 641174] Re: xorg.conf.d mouse acceleration options ignored

2010-09-21 Thread dyna
To clarify, i do not use any other package of the x edgers PPA.
I only got the newer version of xserver-xorg-input-evdev from that PPA to see
if it would fix the problem, which it did.

I also tested it on an up-to-date Lucid install with xserver-xorg-input-
evdev 2.3.2-5ubuntu1, and found the same problem.

Seems like xorg PointerAcceleration is missing from the 2.3.2
version(s), and was added in 2.4.

[Bug 641174] [NEW] xorg.conf.d mouse acceleration options ignored

2010-09-17 Thread dyna
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

In Maverick the mouse acceleration optione in xorg.conf.d are ignored,
resulting in insanely high mouse sensitivity with high dpi/cpi mouse.
This is solved by installing a newer version of xserver-xorg-input-evdev, in my
case 2.5.0+git20100822.990540fa-0ubuntu0sarvatt from the xorg-edgers ppa.

This is also described in http://www.gossamer-
threads.com/lists/gentoo/desktop/211357#211357, where updating to 2.4
also fixed the problem on gentoo.

[Bug 581193] [NEW] ntp init script fails to start ntpd

2010-05-16 Thread Dyna
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ntp

In /etc/init.d/ntp you sync with the ntp servers with this line:

/usr/sbin/ntpdate -s -b $NTPDATE_OPTIONS $tickers /dev/null

After that the script starts ntpd with this line

start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --oknodo --pidfile $PIDFILE --startas
$DAEMON -- -p $PIDFILE -u $UGID $NTPD_OPTS

What happens is that. ntp will not start since port 123 (ntp) is already in
use.
/* from strace:
bind(16, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(123),
sin_addr=inet_addr(0.0.0.0)}, 16) = -1 EADDRINUSE (Address already in use)
*/

The reason is that, ntpdate is running in the background and if it
doesn't sync fast it will still use port 123 when ntp is trying to start
a few lines down the script.

Here is a patch :) -- and yes you have to strart ntpdate in the
foreground otherwise you have a race!!

[Bug 558998] Re: [lucid] compiz-gnome broken because of metacity update

2010-04-09 Thread dyna
Same here.

Changed /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager in
gconf-editor to metacity to auto start metacity.
But it's not really usable as metacity crashes as soon as i right click on the
title bar, but that's probably a metacity bug.

[Bug 552435] Re: Touchpad doesn't work correctly on Dell Mini 9

2010-03-31 Thread dyna
I'm also having problems with a deskop PC and high DPI mouse for which i
use the x11 option ConstantDeceleration.

Seems like the x11_options in udev rules files are being ignored after
updating. udevinfo confirms they are still present.
Also i tried to create a new xorg.conf.d rule, which seems to match because if
i set driver to wacom my mouse is dead, but it still ignores options like
ConstantDeceleration.

Not sure if xserver-xorg-input-evdev is to blame though. I downgraded to
1:2.3.2-3ubuntu2 but the options are still ignored.

Re: [Bug 504629] Re: liblvm2clusterlock not in library search path

2010-01-21 Thread Dyna
Good one didn't look that far :), you could also add a lvm.conf to
ld.so.conf.d dir and in that file add /lib/lvm2 that would solve that
problem too.

Cheers Dyna

Couldn't you just uncomment # library_dir = /lib/lvm2 in
/etc/lvm/lvm.conf instead? That works for me.

i am using kubuntu jaunty and this is what i did to fix it:

cd /usr/local/bin
sudo ln -s kdesudo kdesu

then the hp systray icon worked just fine. maybe adding an alias would
be more efficient, but this already worked for me.

I have applied the fix to the Debian SVN repository and will soon upload
the fixed package to Ubuntu.

Usually you should not hit this bug even with it being present, as HPLIP
supports PolicyKit and it calls tools like kdesudo only if it does not
succeed to use PolicyKit. Can you open a second bug report about HPLIP
not using PolicyKit on your system? Thanks in advance.
