[Bug 2069473] Re: Some Button Text Does Not Display with 6.1 Release
I really want KeePass 2 to work again. I'm probably willing to submit a patch to fix this issue if someone can give me some direction about what an acceptable patch is. I can think of three potential solutions: 1) Restore the PANGO_MAX_VERSION lines. This would be the easiest change. 2) Disable pango in a more direct way. I'm not sure if pango support is even desired. 3) Fix pango support to render the text correctly. This would require a lot more investigation. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you. ** Also affects: keepass2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2069473 Title: Some Button Text Does Not Display with 6.1 Release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepass2/+bug/2069473/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2069473] [NEW] Some Button Text Does Not Display with 6.1 Release
Public bug reported: The version of libgdiplus that ships with Ubuntu 24.04 causes a display error in KeePass 2 and likely other mono applications such as quickroute-gps. In KeePass it causes an important multi-option dialog box to display three buttons with no text in them. I've tracked down the change where the problem started. The problem started with the change to this line: https://salsa.debian.org/dotnet- team/libgdiplus/-/commit/09def42ba0bce63c1e1d372f86ba869b6a1cf2a3#87db583be5c13c1f7b3c958b10e03d67b6a2ca06_67_74 The removal of ` && pango <= $PANGO_MAX_VERSION` causes libgdiplus to be compiled with libpango support. When this line is restored (along with the PANGO_MAX_VERSION declaration), the problem goes away. I verified the prior release of libgdiplus was not compiled with libpango support by running `strings /usr/lib/libgdiplus.so | grep pango`. The output of this command returns very different and convincing results on Ubuntu 22.04 versus Ubuntu 24.04. I can't find a way to disable libpango support without changing configure.ac. I'll attached screen shots showing the button differences. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information. ** Affects: libgdiplus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "keePass2WithPango-20240614.1.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2069473/+attachment/5789659/+files/keePass2WithPango-20240614.1.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2069473 Title: Some Button Text Does Not Display with 6.1 Release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgdiplus/+bug/2069473/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1652091] Re: xargs not contained in initramdisk
The change that was made to address this bug does not work correctly. The version of busybox included in the Ubuntu initramfs doesn't include all the features of busybox included in the Debian initramfs. This lack of features is still causing the killing of dropbear's child processes to fail. You can see the available options of busybox's 'ps' by executing it with an invalid option. On Ubuntu, you get the following: (initramfs) /bin/busybox ps -h ps: invalid option -- 'h' BusyBox v1.27.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.27.2-2ubuntu3) multi-call binary. Usage: ps Show list of processes w Wide output l Long output (initramfs) If you run the same command on Debian, you get the following: (initramfs) /bin/busybox ps -h ps: invalid option -- 'h' BusyBox v1.22.1 (Debian 1:1.22.0-19+b3) multi-call binary. Usage: ps [-o COL1,COL2=HEADER] [-T] Show list of processes -o COL1,COL2=HEADER Select columns for display -T Show threads (initramfs) It is the missing '-o' option that causes this issue. I am reopening this bug instead of creating a new bug because scott28 previously pointed out these problems and already provided a more correct solution. I have included a patch based on his patch created against the current 'master' version of dropbear. I don't think this can really be fixed upstream. The two versions of busybox ps are not compatable. The only reasonable fix I can see is to add Ubuntu specific code and I suspect the Debian maintainer will be unwilling to do that. Ubuntu should probably apply this patch before creating their build. ** Patch added: "Replaces Debian Specific Code with Ubuntu Specific Code" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dropbear/+bug/1652091/+attachment/5165768/+files/dropbear-cantKillChildren-20180720.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652091 Title: xargs not contained in initramdisk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dropbear/+bug/1652091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 795239] Re: eject: unable to find or open device for: `cdrom' - but my cd is /dev/cdrom1
Hey Ankit, First, I am no Ubuntu expert but I am sure it is fine if you should just go ahead and take it. I stopped working on it because I started playing around with the Doom 3 source code when it was released. The problem hasn't been fixed because it isn't exactly an easy problem to solve. I don't remember all the details but except for /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info, the Kernel does not appear to provide a way to figure out what cdrom drives are available. I would probably go about using the information from /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info as that file doesn't appear to be going anywhere very soon. Be sure to try to fix the issue upstream. If not, I would try to submit it here. I remember I posted more detailed information above. You should definitely read that. Good luck, eviljoel -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/795239 Title: eject: unable to find or open device for: `cdrom' - but my cd is /dev/cdrom1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eject/+bug/795239/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 795239] Re: eject: unable to find or open device for: `cdrom' - but my cd is /dev/cdrom1
I think this is a solid feature request and I've spent a month or so looking into a good solution. While I don't have a patch of my own yet, I disagree with the method Raseel used to solve this issue. Basically there is nothing guaranteeing multiple CD-ROM devices will be named /dev/cdrom1-9. This is simply a convention used by most (if not all) distros. I believe eject's behavior should not make assumptions about the existence of or the configuration of udev. Most of the following I wrote a before Raseel's comment, so bear with me if it reads awkwardly. Basically the following is just my thoughts on different approaches I could take to implement this feature request: First, I did confirm that eject will not just work if /dev/cdrom does not exist. However, I haven't confirmed the udev assignment portion of this bug, so for right now I am going to leave this bug as unverified. One thing I keep going back and forth on is if this is an error with udev or eject. One possibility is to make /dev/cdrom a non-persistent device name and have it point to the first detected CD-ROM on the system. However, udev has been around for about 5 years now and there might be many applications that depend on /dev/cdrom being a persistent name for a device. Looking at eject now, I think the best thing to do is determine how many optical drives are connected to the system. If the number of optical drives is greater than 1, refuse to eject. If the number of optical drives is one, then automatically eject that device. The eject command is obviously created with the intention of mainly interfacing with CD- ROMs, so if you have no optical drives but there is another ejectable device that the eject command can interface with, eject should ignore that device unless it is explicitly specified. So, the problem becomes determining the number of optical drives in the system. It was suggested by Bryce that we look for /dev/cdrom[1-9]. While most systems name their CD-ROMs in this manner, this naming is entirely based on udev rules that may not be consistent across all distributions. Hence, (as I said above) I don't think this is the best solution for this problem. Bryce also suggested that /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info be used. One advantage to using this file is that it uses the CD-ROM capabilities flags that are set when the drive is registered. The file appears to access these flags without opening each device which means the output is extremely reliable and probably renders extremely fast. However, from the research I did, proc is suppose to be used just for process information and the use of non-process related files in proc is deprecated. Also, there is a chance that the user did not include the proc file system in his/her kernel (although the chances of that are pretty low). Finally, the file is formatted in a human readable format and is not formatted for easy parsing (although parsing the file wouldn't be terribly hard). In trying to find a more programmer friendly way of determining how many optical drives are in the system, I started looking at the udev source code. I figured that if udev can determine how many optical drives exist, then eject should be able to do the same thing. If you look at /lib/udev/rules.d/60-cdrom_id.rules, you will see that udev uses a program called cdrom_id to help it determine if a device is an optical drive. It assumes the kernel assigned the CD-ROM a device name of either /dev/sr[0-9], /dev/hd[a-z] or /dev/xvcd* (apparently a Xen virtual drive). Since the kernel supplies these names, they should be consistent across all recent distros. The cdrom_id program uses uses an ioctl call in an attempt to access the drive's CD-ROM capabilities flags. If the drive's capabilities flags are available, the drive is assumed to be an optical drive. Unfortunately, the ioctl call requires an open file handle to the device. Since this is a special character file, I'm not sure how much latency this open operation will introduce. If you look in the cdrom_id source code, you will see that there is an intentional delay between attempts to obtain a file handle although I am not sure if it is necessary to repeat this delay in eject. Overall, using this method to determine the number of optical drives is probably more maintainable but slower. I'm currently looking into how udisks (derived from the old HAL code) determines if a device is an optical drive. I still haven't located the code which does this. If I can't turn up anything useful in udisks, I think I'll probably have exhausted my research options and will choose an ideal implementation. Of course, the ideal implementation could use a series of different methods to determine if there is a single optical drive. For example, first see if /dev/cdrom exists (for backward compatibility). If /dev/cdrom does not exists, next see if /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info exists. If not, then use the udev method for optical drive detection. Please note

[Bug 779581] Re: “Close” button in tabs not responding with the keyboard
Attempted in Firefox 3.6.18 (Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu). It doesn't close the tab there either. However, a clicking animation does appear when the space bar is pressed. I believe this should still be considered a bug regardless of if closing the tab is the correct behavior. In my opinion, either the clicking animation should be removed or the tab should close. Having a response to the keyboard that does not result in a useful action is not appropriate. (Of course, this situation is so hard to find that it may not be worth fixing.) I later tried reproducing this issue in an Official Windows build of Firefox (5.0.1). In Windows, you cannot focus on the close button, hence pressing spacebar does not cause the clicking animation. Given that Windows Firefox does not close the tab (and you cannot even focus on the close button), this suggests that focusing on the close button is the actual error. Later still, I installed 11.04 in a VM and uninstalled the default Firefox. I then downloaded a Firefox build (5.0.1) from the Mozilla website and tested this issue from their build. This issue also occured in the Mozilla build of Firefox. I searched upstream for a similar bug but did not find one. Shouldn't we open a bug upstream? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779581 Title: “Close” button in tabs not responding with the keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/779581/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
