[Bug 633807] Re: canon IP3000: 'pdftoraster failed' on Maverick
I've found a solution: 'sudo apt-get --purge remove ghostscript-cups' and reinstall the deinstalled packages afterwards. It seems like something was messed up with the configuration files. -- canon IP3000: 'pdftoraster failed' on Maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 633807] Re: canon IP3000: 'pdftoraster failed' on Maverick
I just printed a test page from the gnome printer configuration with standard settings. It also occurs when printing the attached pdf. Some additional info: I have upgraded from ubuntu lucid to maverick. I can now say that the printer worked after the upgrade without changing or resetting any settings in the cups printing configuration. But when printing pages 173 to 208 from the attached document with evince, I got a wrong output (see image in attachment). After seeing this, I've 'deleted' the printer from the printer configuration and reinstalled the printer with the gnome printer configuration wizard. After reinstalling, I now allways get this error message (at least for this document and for printing a test page). Afterwards I-ve tried to reinstall cups (with 'apt-get --purge remove cups' and 'apt-get install cups ubuntu-desktop'), but that didn't remove the error message. I connected this printer on another computer (mac os x 10.4). When printing the same document from maverick with evince to that computer, I got the same weird output, so it seems that this is a problem of evince. The problem doesn't occur with acroread. I will make an additional bug report for this problem. (So after all, it wasn't needed to reinstall the the printer, but this output is a bug in evince). ** Attachment added: "Document.zip" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/633807/+attachment/1559397/+files/Document.zip -- canon IP3000: 'pdftoraster failed' on Maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 461732] Re: input jack doesn't work on dell xps m1530
I found a solution: run alsamixer in terminal, then set the 'digital' switch to analog (the 'front mic jack mode' switch doesn't do anything, as one might think). Anyway, I can't find this option/setting in the gnome-volume-control app. another thing: if I run gnome-alsamixer, I can see a 'digital input source' switch, which doesn't do anything and the terminal gives: ** (gnome-alsamixer:4925): WARNING **: gam_toggle_get_state (). in Karmic Koala 9.10: the gnome-volume-control now has a standard input gain feature to amplify the volume. [Bug 458893] [NEW] dns resolution doesn't work with router or virtualbox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager My situation: I'm behind a router. I downloaded a live cd of karmic koala (9.10). After starting the cd, Internet seems to be configured well automatically and 'ping www.google.com' works. But dns-resolution doesn't work with the relay dns of my router for programms like wget and firefox. In my case the DNS ip-adres (this is my router) is 192.168.1.1. If I change /etc/resolv.conf manually and replace 192.168.1.1 to 208.67.222.222 (a real dns server on the internet), then firefox and wget works with this DNS-server. For me, this is strange: what is the difference between the DNS server of the router (192.168.1.1) and the real dns-server (208.67.222.222)? Anyway, I don't have this problem with ubuntu 9.04. You can reproduce this error in a very simple way: run the karmic koala live cd in a virtualbox session, then the DNS server will be also a relay dns 10.0.2.3, and then you get the same problem, (Also with a fully updated karmic koala). Again, the problem doesn't occur with Ubuntu 9.04. Quoting from bug #199562 which is marked duplicate: "When I suspend to disk (hibernate), everything behaves normally. When I resume, however, all I see is a white screen- no graphics, no distortion, no image of any kind. I am able to move the cursor around the screen normally, and in the middle it turns to a text entry cursor, so I click there and enter my password (which I do not see, no black dots or asterisks or anything) and press enter, at which point everything is back to normal. Printing works fine on a i386 pc for this printer I can't test hardy alpha 4, because it doesn't boot from both an imac powerbook g3 and a desktop blue imac g3, which is related to another bug (ide-core not loaded when booting). [Bug 155027] Re: 7.10 won't boot on G4 PPC (15" TiBook, ATI 9000) after successful install
When booting the live cd 'hardy haron alpha 4' on an powerbook g3 without options, I get a small bar showing variuous blues and fading to white. When using the option video=ofonly, this problem goes away, but then I'm dropped in to a shell (probably because of ide_core not loaded). Then I tried % live-nosplash-powerpc break=premount video=ofonly ... (initramfs) modprobe ide_core (initramfs) exit but it seems that the cd-rom doesn't get mounted :( . I tried the same also on a desktop imac g3 (a little blue imac) . But then I get an even worse situation: the usb-driver for the keyboard doesn't work, probably because of the "premount=break" option (the keyboard works in the initramfs-shell when leaving that option away). I think everything really got messed up for G3 (check all my bug reports), even though I got better (not perfect) experience with previous releases. :( -- 7.10 won't boot on G4 PPC (15" TiBook, ATI 9000) after successful install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 151013] Re: can't boot linux-image-2.6.22 ppc
Yes this can be the problem. Now, I just compiled the kernel myself from the source code linux-source-2.6.22. Before I did that, I compared config-2.6.20-15-powerpc and config-2.6.22-14-powerpc and I saw that 'CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE=y' in config-2.6.20-15-powerpc, but in config-2.6.22-14-powerpc I see that 'CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE=m'. So I copied config-2.6.22-14-powerpc to .config and change the 'm' into 'y' for the option 'CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE'. And yes, that kernel worked after building (with make-kpkg --initrd ...) and installing (with dpkg) it. So this might be a quick workaround for this bug. -- can't boot linux-image-2.6.22 ppc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151013 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 151013] Re: can't boot linux-image-2.6.22 ppc
I removed the 'quiet' and 'splash' options and now I see that linux- image-2.6.22-15-powerpc is trying to access /dev/hda4. It seems that the block device /dev/hda4 doesn't exist for that kernel, allthough I have such a partition (linux-image-2.6.20-15-powerpc can boot). I tried to change the optrion root=/dev/hda4 into root=/dev/sda4 in /etc/yaboot.conf but that didn't help, it has the same error messages for /dev/sda4 (but now also with linux-image-2.6.20-15-powerpc of course). In short: linux-image-2.6.20-15-powerpc sees (makes) a block device, but linux-image-2.6.22-14-powerpc doesn't. [Bug 140770] beidgui can't find libpcsclite.so
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: beidgui I installed the beidgui package. 2 problems: 1. beidgui can't find libpcsclite.so . So this seems to be a dependency problem in the ubuntu package system. 2 After I've installed the 'libpcsclite1', beidgui still can't find libpcsclite.so . I looked into a the /usr/lib directory and I saw that there is a file named libpcsclite.so.1 . Thus, beidgui looks at the wrong place. After creating a symbolic link manually, it worked. But there is where the 'human being' stops :) . I'm using feisty on a 32 bit i386 machine. ** Affects: belpic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- beidgui can't find libpcsclite.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/140770 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 133495] some codec crashes totem and gnash on ppc
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I would like to play the video's on www.vrtnieuws.net . I think these are wmv-format. On a i386 it works (after installing the codecs). On ppc (imac g3) however, the totem-mozilla-plugin crashes. The videos on youtube don't work either through gnash (I use version 0.8.0 from the feisty-backports) (Gnash crashes). I also tried to open the videos from www.vrtnieuws.net with vlc and mplayer plugins , but they crash also with these videos. Totem doesn't crash with all video content (like the videos from a sony photo camera ), so I think it's one of the codecs that doesn't work correctly on ppc. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- some codec crashes totem and gnash on ppc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 133119] no dri or xgl on imac g3
