[Bug 1897962] [NEW] Out of Memory Error with Brother DCP-J7720W
Public bug reported: Installed XSane from the repository but when I scan the viewer screen is blank and if I try to save I get "Error during save: out of memory" I believe that escl driver in 20.04 sane-backends is a problem and it is related to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=962539 sane-backends 1.0.31 should be considered for focal-backports and that if possible, escl driver could be individually SRU (Stable release update) in focal-updates. ppa:sane-project/sane-git fixes the issue. ** Affects: sane-backends (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897962 Title: Out of Memory Error with Brother DCP-J7720W To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1897962/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1568459] Re: unison incompatible with older ubuntu/debian versions
This may help. After upgrading my Desktop from Mint19 to Mint20 I could not get unison file sync working to my Ubuntu Server. With some help from the guys on the GitHub issues list I have now fixed it. Apparently unison for Ubuntu19 and Mint20 are compiled differently, and even though they are both version 2.48.4 they are compiled with different releases of OCaml, which makes them incompatible. This is what I did - Remove all traces of unison then run wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/u/unison/unison_2.48.4-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/u/unison/unison-gtk_2.48.4-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -r unison this removes the old install sudo dpkg -i unison_2.48.4-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i unison-gtk_2.48.4-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo apt-mark hold unison this stops it updating sudo apt-mark hold unison-gtk This is not a proper solution it is just a fix, but it did get me out of a hole :) Mick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568459 Title: unison incompatible with older ubuntu/debian versions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unison/+bug/1568459/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: apt-get remove resolvconf incorrectly leaves a symlink from /etc/resolv.conf to ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf. apt-get purge resolvconf leaves that symlink with no target, so DNS is broken. The problem is in postrm: it's examining /etc/resolv.conf to see if it's a link to /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf, but it's a relative link to ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf, so the comparison fails, resulting in the failures above. [Bug 722950] Re: ctrl-x does not work in grub-efi
This is fixed in the upstream by commit 9e5f70174ec960a0077f20bb74cb9f4da9b57e7b (and a warning removed by 5fcde03bf1e8cf74c186bcef6d705734f2d002c5). Grub also just recently tagged grub-2.02-beta3 with many more fixes. I think this one is major enough that, if the risk of a full transition to beta3 is considered high until more testing is done, then the above two commits should be pulled in as a patch. This is a complete disabler for those trying to boot EFI over serial- redirected console, as it's likely F10 doesn't work, and neither does ^X. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/722950 Title: ctrl-x does not work in grub-efi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/722950/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1540405] Re: i40e fails virtual networking
Joseph, thanks, we can talk to the customer about options to upgrade kernels. Unfortunately, we can't use ksplice as this kernel is not seen as LTS in that product. [Bug 1540405] Re: i40e fails virtual networking
Sorry. no, this didn't happen after an upgrade. These machines are not using ksplice, so we have no auto-updating, and the kernel dates from the last full redeployment: Linux 4.2.0-22-generic #27-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 17 22:57:08 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux These are trusty nodes using the above kernel to avoid bug 1497812. This is a production customer cloud, so we don't have scope to upgrade a machine just for testing, unfortunately. Is there a likely fix in the upgrade you recommend? [Bug 1540405] [NEW] i40e fails virtual networking
Public bug reported: With linux-hwe-generic-trusty we see kern.log entries for "TX driver issue detected, PF reset issued" on a NIC in a bond, followed by the same interface going down and up again. After this time networking to virtual machines bridged to that bond fails. We see either asymmetric traffic, with ARP replies not reaching the VMs, or no traffic at all to or from VMs. In this context, these are nova-compute nodes using OpenvSwitch and KVM. Reloading the i40e module corrects the networking. Setting TCP Segmentation Offload off on the NICs seems to prevent the PF reset, and we don't believe we have seen VM networking problems since doing so. # ethtool -i eth5 driver: i40e version: 1.3.4-k firmware-version: f4.33.31377 a1.2 n4.41 e1866 bus-info: :04:00.1 supports-statistics: yes supports-test: yes supports-eeprom-access: yes supports-register-dump: yes supports-priv-flags: yes ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: canonical-bootstack ** Package changed: linux-lts-vivid (Ubuntu) => linux-meta (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540405 Title: i40e fails virtual networking To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1540405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1353172] Re: Updated HWE as suggested by support updates and now the NVidea driver 173 will not insert and so no Xserver
This is not package related. This is a kernel issue and the hardware support or lack thereof... for the new 3.13.0-32-generic kernel supposedly for 12.04.4 LTS. It does not support NVidea drivers apparently. I have seen other various complaints about the problem. There is no sense in reporting it as an X package problem, just to have a package to tie to it. It is a kernel hardware driver problem. The HWE update does not handle NVidea properly. Please look at this promptly and supply an updated kernel fix. [Bug 1079941] [NEW] -v version output is broken
Public bug reported: ceph -v output is broken in ceph package version 0.48.2-0ubuntu2. This is supposed to get built during any make from git revparse, which is stored in .git_version, which is then processed by make_version into ceph_ver.h, included in the sources. Investigating, it seems as though the source package orig.tar.gz does not contain the file, whereas what we thought we delivered to the location in debian/watch does. That file in the source tree contains version=3 http://ceph.com/download/ceph-(\d.*)\.tar\.gz However, I note that when I fetch the quantal source package with 'pull- lp-source ceph quantal', the debian/watch file in that package points somewhere else entirely: version=3 https://github.com/ceph/ceph/tags .*/tarball/v(\d[\d\.]+).* debian debian/orig-tar.sh That location appears not to exist anymore (perhaps github reorganized?) but in any event it's not where we expect the authoritative delivery to live. [Bug 809221] Re: unable to mount ceph root at boot due to stripping of trailing slashes
Seems to me that the filesystem-specific mount and/or the filesystem module should get the 'device' path unmodified, and deal with it how it will. (For instance, as noted, nfs mounts can also contain a trailing path, and nfsserv:/ should work unsurprisingly). nfs currently works because it doesn't try to validate that '/' exists; mount.nfs requires a :, and passes on a potentially-empty path to the kernel mount function. Ceph's kernel module could accept that as well, but the fact remains that mountall really should not be removing the trailing /. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/809221 Title: unable to mount ceph root at boot due to stripping of trailing slashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mountall/+bug/809221/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 893096] [NEW] Pulseaudio server is not starting automatically at login
Public bug reported: I have tried to delete the ~/.pulse directory but the symptom is always the same. No sound at login, if I try to move the volume slider nothing happens and ps -ef | grep pulseaudio shows nothing. I have to run pulseaudio --start -D several times until it finally takes and sound is then available until I log out and in again. Example: mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. mick@DragonsLair:~$ pulseaudio -D --start mick@DragonsLair:~$ Same happens if I kill the daemon and try to load it again. This is the same if the ~/.pulse directory was first deleted. It was working fine under the previous version. /desktop/gnome/sound/enable_esd is set to True. Re: [Bug 829239] Re: Prey does not work when installed from Synaptic or Software Centre
Hi, It just returns sh: Can't open /usr/lib/prey/prey.sh I guess that's because I installed from the prey website. As I said in the bug it just doesn't work when installed from synaptic Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Cheers Mick On 07/09/11 21:45, papukaija wrote: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. [Bug 829239] [NEW] Prey does not work when installed from Synaptic or Software Centre
Public bug reported: I installed prey from Synaptic and also from Software Centre. It completes without error, but in Applications System Tools there should be Prey Configurator, but there is not. On their webpage http://preyproject.com/ there is a download button, but this download also gave me the same problem. There is a link just below the download button which opens up a page with downloads for several different OS's. I used the Ubuntu download link and it then installed successfully and works fine I am on Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit Hope this helps ** Affects: prey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/829239 Title: Prey does not work when installed from Synaptic or Software Centre To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/prey/+bug/829239/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
