[Bug 49343] Re: stv680 module needs swapRGB_on=1

2006-12-18 Thread nanophase
Ekiga... I meant something usable :)
Ekiga doesn't even start up when I have that actual webcam plugged in, it just
hangs (camorama shows the video so the camera is okay I guess).

However Ekiga works with my other webcam, colors fine too, just low
framerate for some reason (the camera can do 30fps, but seems it's doing
only half of that).

If it's userspace, then maybe the clients should support an option swap
blue/red channels, but I'm not sure on which level it should be fixed.

[Bug 49343] Re: stv680 module needs swapRGB_on=1

2006-12-17 Thread nanophase
The was for 2.6.15 which I don't have anymore. On edgy (2.6.17) quick tests
show that this can be corrected by the webcam software too, not just the module:
gqcam shows swapped blue/red while camorama shows the colors right.

I will wait a little and test it with Feisty, I think/hope there will be
some official video-chat app in there, so I can test it with that, and
if that works I'll just drop this report.

ok now I have this output when whatching a movie.

2006-10-30 Thread nanophase
just noticed how many different dbus versions I have here:

dbus 0.93 which seems to be the new thing in edgy
libdbus-glib-1.2 is 0.71 (needed by deskbar)
libdbus-1-cil is 0.63 needed by f-spot and ubu-desktop
libnet-dbus-perl is 0.33 needed by lotsa pkgs

seems to me it's how it's meant to be in edgy, looks strange to me
anyway

[Bug 66257] Re: [edgy] Screen blanks when watching movies

2006-10-28 Thread nanophase
Sebastian: Absolutely nothing happens. Meaning, when I do dbus-monitor
--session I get this (this is a dapper):

signal sender=org.freedesktop.DBus - dest=:1.11
interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameAcquired
 string :1.11
method call sender=:1.11 - dest=org.freedesktop.DBus
interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=AddMatch
 string type='method_call'
method call sender=:1.11 - dest=org.freedesktop.DBus
interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=AddMatch
 string type='method_return'
method call sender=:1.11 - dest=org.freedesktop.DBus
interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=AddMatch
 string type='error'

So when these are gone, there is no more output afterwards. Don't know
if this helps.

2006-10-17 Thread nanophase
I just wanted to report this very bug. It is pretty much the same on
Dapper. I have put display to sleep enabled in Power Manager, and
that's what happens when whatching a movie with totem. (gnome-
screensaver is disabled, pointless when one has DPMS)

It was interesting to see it happen, since prevention for this has
always been working even on older players (e.g. mplayer and
xscreensaver) for ages. This must be a bug coming with g-p-m, hal or
some new thing that hasn't been around so long (imho).

I had the same issues some time ago with Azureus and Firefox. The always use

I'm not sure whose fault this is, some sites don't provide the user with a full

[Bug 51552] Re: Can't set mouse speed (only acceleration and treshold)

2006-09-13 Thread nanophase
I agree with it. It is pretty hard to adjust a mouse with these 2 settings.
Some users just want a linear speed configuration and that's all. I can not use
my Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical because I either:
* set sensitivity high, but then movement is slow
* set sensitivity low, then it's fast but unaccurate as a serial ball-mouse 10
years ago

I tried to adjust it somewhere in between, no acceptable effect there.
My other mice are somewhat better, but I must ass they all work perfectly under
windows (they only have speed).

I see this as a big problem, but probably in X itself.

I'm not sure I got you. The strings gdebi gives the user are wrong,
whatever it uses. I'll attach 2 screenshots to show the problem. The one
shows 0/s which really wants be 0bytes/sec (sorry I couldn't do a 20/sec
screenshot right now, but you get the picture). The other shows 211k/s
which is basically not so bad but it seems to be clear to me that
'bytes' is just missing in all cases when indicating speed. I'm almost
sure it would show 2M/sec when it downloads with 2MB/sec. I just can't
prove that on a 2mbit line.

Hope I described the thing better this time.

[Bug 51223] Re: remaining time left is broken

2006-09-09 Thread nanophase
Also there in current edgy, but I noticed something:

When I hover on the battery icon of g-p-m, the remaining time is increasing
from those 3 minutes (in the warning popup) until it reaches the real remaining
time. The value is increasing, like every 30 seconds, that may be the refresh
rate for the tooltip info, I'm not sure.
Hey we have a cool new estimated time history in g-p-m, see the screenshot!

Confirmed. g-p-m can see the event, it's even in it's event log:

GNOME interactive logout because the power button has been pressed. It
just has no effect on the system.

[Bug 50211] Re: gtk buttons drawing problems

2006-09-06 Thread nanophase
Very strange. Same thing on a freshly installed edgy knot2, except that now the
buttons get some weird colors (if you've seen gimmie, you know what I mean)
I will make a screencast I think to show it in action..

note: it's only on my notebook. My dapper desktop seems to be okay.

alt-c is bound not only to close window but to add cdrom aswell in

since alt-c is the close window shortcut to any window in gnome, maybe
add cdrom should be changed to something else?

[Bug 56216] DVD can't be ejected sometimes

2006-08-13 Thread nanophase
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

The eject button has no effect at all, the disk mounter applet says
can't eject cdrom (see screenshot).

This is what I found when looking into the problem:

lsof |grep cdrom
nautilus 4559nphase cwd DIR 22,04096 1792
/media/cdrom0

What I did to get to the problem:

1. Started k3b (the gnome burner apps are just not there yet)
2. burned a DVD
3. Disc was ejected after burn
4. Re-insterted the DVD to..
5. ...check the burned data
6. There you go, can't eject it anymore (unless I log out I guess)

Additional info: My parents had the same error just yesterday, except
they didn't burn a disc, just inserted it and copied a file. Totally
different machine, both Ubuntus are Dapper (upgraded from Breezy)

[Bug 28303] Re: Battery info lost after suspend to ram

2006-07-26 Thread nanophase
acpi -V shows battery1 before suspend-to-ram and says nothing about battery
after resume. Our hardware seems not to be supported in this case.
Too bad, but everything else works in Ubuntu on my laptop so I guess it could
be worse..
Let's hope for the best, I can't fix this on my own, however I'd be willing to
hack on it with a little help from a pro..

[Bug 51222] Re: fetching mail at startup doesn't fetch all mail

I found the problem. Enabling the option Automatically check for new
mails every X minutes makes that account check for new mail on startup
too. The description string should let the user know this, but it's not
really a bug, it's just a wrong description, so I'm closing this report.

[Bug 51222] fetching mail at startup doesn't fetch all mail

2006-06-28 Thread nanophase
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have 4 accounts set up in evolution, and when it's fetching mail at
startup (I can see 2 Fetch Mail... strings on the bottom of the
window), I don't always get new mail, but when I press F9 evolution
downloads thoose new mails too.

My theory is that maybe only 2 accounts are checked at startup and not
all of them. I can't tell a system behind this bug though, I'm just sure
there's something wicked going on.

It's an up to date Dapper by the way.
