server/bionic/daily-live/current/bionic-live-server-amd64.iso works
fine.

2018-07-09 Thread noisymime
I can confirm that the current ubuntu-18.04-server-amd64.iso file
available at http://releases.ubuntu.com/releases/18.04/ is still having
this problem.

I downloaded it just now and am still seeing the same issue. Will try
the daily live image posted above and confirm back

[Bug 1579562] Re: Still unable to access unpassworded NTFS shares with 4.3.9 Fix

2016-05-23 Thread noisymime
Am still seeing this issue on 14.04 as well. I logged bug #1582658
showing the samba log, which is giving the same error as in the original
issue (bug #1572876).

I've also tried the 2 smb.conf options mentioned above by Marc, however
neither resolved the issue.

Same problem experienced here on Ubuntu 10.04

Attached is .usbcreator.log file. I deleted the file prior to running

The intended device/partition was formated to fat32 using gparted immediately
before running usb-creator. It is an 8gb partition.

[Bug 364918] Re: libindi0 conflicts with indi

2009-11-05 Thread noisymime
I think removing indi completely is exactly what is needed. My
understanding is that its functionality is all provided by libindi now.

As for the fact that it provides binaries to /usr/bin, that is a worry. There's
been an open bug on it for a while:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libindi/+bug/01
From what I can see though, this is something that will have to be taken
upstream as the files in /usr/bin are part of the original libindi source.

It *might* be possible to retain 2 packages, libindi0 for the libraries
and indi for the executables, but looking at the current source layout,
this would be quite a change.

[Bug 391418] Re: [i945] [Ubuntu-X-Swat] 945GM Unable to load desktop 2048x2048 with UXA

2009-07-14 Thread noisymime
This may become a problem for 9.10 as the fix in the upstream bug has
both a driver and kernel portion. Assuming karmic is planning to release
with 2.6.30, the fix that has been pushed to 2.6.31 will not apply and
the problem will remain.

Given that karmic only has UXA available, this will mean i945 users will
be unable to get a desktop larger than 2048x2048 on 9.10 at all.

[Bug 359517] Re: kstars does not support indi

2009-06-25 Thread noisymime
Hi Thomas

That error is simply stating that the package isn't 'signed' with a
known key. It shouldn't cause a problem though and the update/install
should still work without a problem.

If you're getting dependency errors, try removing package 'indi' and see
if that helps.

[Bug 391418] [NEW] [Ubuntu-X-Swat] 945GM Unable to load desktop 2048x2048 with UXA

2009-06-23 Thread noisymime
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

* I am using the Intel drivers from the X Swat PPA *
xserver-xorg-video-intel: 2.7.1
kernel: 2.6.30

I am currently unable to load a desktop with a resolution great than 2048x2048
using UXA. I understand there is a limitation with my hardware (945GM) that
means I cannot use DRI with a resolution greater than this, however with UXA
enabled I cannot get a desktop at all.
Error: (EE) intel(0): Cannot support DRI with frame buffer width 2048.
and am then given options to reconfigure xorg or start in low graphics mode.

I have tried disabling DRI by adding the following to xorg.conf:
Option DRI off
However the option seems to be ignored and the same error appears. I can find
no way to disable DRI and therefore get a desktop with UXA.

In the past the Intel driver would simply disable DRI automatically if you
requested a display 2048 however this does now not appear to be the case with
UXA. If I switch back to EXA, the desktop (@ 3072x2048) will load fine. The
extra resolution is enabled with the following in xorg.conf:
SubSection Display
Virtual 3072 2048
EndSubSection

If I remove the 2nd monitor and load a 1024x768 desktop with UXA everything
works fine (Performance is great!) but I can find no way at all to get the
larger display with UXA.

[Bug 359517] Re: kstars does not support indi

2009-06-07 Thread noisymime
Hi Mike,

Do you still have package 'indi' installed? Its installed as part of the
non-ppa version of kstars however libindi0 conflicts with it, so you'll
need to remove it before installing the ppa version.

If you're having problems after that, I suggest removing indi, libindi0
and kstars, refreshing your apt cache and installing kstars again. That
should fix everything.

I'm a little surprised that this has been targeted for 9.10. The update
to fix it in 9.04 is a trivial change to the package and does not
require any code patches etc.

Is there a particular reason this can't be added to jaunty updates?

[Bug 359517] Re: [jaunty][regression] kstars does not support indi

2009-04-22 Thread noisymime
Yes, works fine in kubuntu.

If you add the following line to your apt sources the update should come
through:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/josh-noisymime/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Note that you will have to uninstall indi if you've got it installed as
it conflicts with libindi0. See bug #364918

[Bug 260630] Re: Mouse disappears when moved over kstars star chart

2009-04-22 Thread noisymime
I am also experiencing this in jaunty but I have found a work around. If I
start kstars with the following I get a cursor over the map:
kstars --graphicssystem raster

This is a QT option and is not specific to kstars.
I'm not sure if it helps explain the root cause, but it at least provides a
solution.

[Bug 364918] [NEW] libindi0 conflicts with indi

2009-04-21 Thread noisymime
Public bug reported:

Package libindi0 conflicts with package indi as both try to install file
/usr/bin/indiserver

I'm not sure of the history behind the 2 packages, but from what I can
see libindi0 should to be set to conflict and replace indi. All the
functionality within indi seems to be duplicated within libindi0 (Though
not vice versa). I'm happy to create a debdiff if that would be helpful?

Perhaps the bug needs to be logged against package indi however, as it
appears as though it is not actually required within Jaunty.

This does not solve the issue for me. With effects off I still get terrible
screen refresh noticeable most when switching desktops and when scrolling in
apps like Firefox.

 2. Enable UXA and see if UXA is stable in your scenarios.
Not possible on my system. Enabling UXA causes the X server to crash when
trying to load so can't even get to a kdm logon screen.

 Option AccelMethod EXA
 Option MigrationHeuristic greedy
I also tried these options but they caused major visual corruption when trying
to enable a 2nd monitor using xrandr after logon.

Whilst I understand the sentiment that the priority is a working desktop
rather than performance, the speed this reduces a system to make it
practically unusable as an everyday environment. Similar to others
above, I was running KDE 4.2 under Intrepid and had no such issues, so
this is likely a problem between kwin and the newer intel driver.

[Bug 276942] Re: [8.10] mythzmserver will not display live feed

2009-01-08 Thread noisymime
@Kyle Gordon

What is the value of the 2 fields? If it ends in anything other than 4
0's then I believe it will cause a problem (Mine was originally
0x7a6d2000 for example)

If you change both fields to end in 4 0's (in my case changing to
0x7a6d), restart mythzmserver and you should be OK.

[Bug 272157] Re: Intrepid Alpha 6 desktop freeze with Gigabyte G45

2008-10-21 Thread noisymime
Thanks Bryce. Does the release of -intel 2.5.0 change this in any way? I
know it requires libdrm 2.4.0 (Intrepid currently has 2.3.1 I think),
but given they now both have releases rather than simply git-tips, are
they not considered stable (enough)?

The concern is that over the 6 months between Intrepid and Jaunty that
the G4x series of chips is going to become considerably more popular
than it is today and at present many users are experiencing problems
even installing and booting to a GUI. See
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=889323.

Is there some testing PPA that these things get pushed into first? I am
happy to try things out from there to check for regressions etc.

Thanks again

[Bug 276942] Re: [8.10] mythzmserver will not display live feed

2008-10-02 Thread noisymime
Problem is due to ZoneMinder 1.23.3 using a different value for its
shared memory key. Patch has been submitted upstream but it makes some
changes to mythzmserver that may not be accepted.

Temporary workaround for anyone experiencing this issue is the following:
In zoneminder mysql database, in table 'config', change the 'Value' field of
setting 'ZM_SHM_KEY' to be the same as the 'DefaultValue' field. Restart
mythzmserver.

Error message repeats for as long as live stream screen is open.
(Whilst there is an error above saying that Xv could not be loaded, this is
unrelated as the same problem is experienced on another system where Xv works
normally)

Zoneminder is setup correctly and video can be displayed via web
interface so the problem is with myth zoneminder. Same setup worked with
mythzoneminder under 8.04.

Suggested cause:
This is possibly due to a limitation of mythzoneminder:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MythZoneMinder#Dependencies
Above site states that mythzoneminder only works with zoneminder versions
1.22.2 and 1.22.3 whereas Intrepid has upgraded to zoneminder 1.23.3. Not 100%
sure this is the cause of the problem, but it is a possibility.

If the versioning issue above is the issue, it will obviously need to
wait until the problem is fixed upstream, but in the mean time it should
be documented somewhere that package mythzoneminder will not work on
Intrepid.

[Bug 232108] [NEW] MythVideo DVD player crashes on multi-CPU systems

2008-05-19 Thread noisymime
Public bug reported:

with the default Ubuntu configure. This was reported upstream in

1) Stock Hardy install on a Hyperthreaded P4. DVD player crashes when
Hyperthreading enabled (ie num CPUs 1) but runs fine when hyperthreading is
disabled (CPUs = 1). No other changes were made to system.

2007-01-30 Thread noisymime
I agree that mtools should be listed as a dependency rather than simply
recommended. The mcopy program will be required by syslinux in 99% of
cases and therefore should be a depends.

Jonh, this option is not turned on by default so hence in most cases
syslinux will fail to operate after installing. This cannot be a
desirable outcome? Additionally, most people would surely be installing
this with apt-get and rather than aptitude and hence the problem is
there for them too.

[Bug 77097] Re: no css dvd's work in feisty

2007-01-17 Thread noisymime
Its possible that the upgrade to Feisty caused the installed css to no
longer function and produce the problem. Then when you reinstalled the
package from Edgy (Which contains the CSS installer) everything would
once again be ok.

That said, the install-css.sh file really needs to be included in
libdvdread3 within Feisty, particularly if it does break when upgrading
from a previous version.

As an alternative to using the Edgy package, it is sufficient to simply
run the install-css.sh script (Attached) after installing the Feisty

[Bug 71773] Unable to run Yum in Edgy

2006-11-14 Thread noisymime
Public bug reported:

I've just performed a fresh Edgy install and apt-get install yum.

When I run yum however, I get the message:
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:

   No module named urlgrabber

If I then change /usr/bin/python to point to /usr/bin/python2.5 (rather than
2.4) I get the following when running yum:
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules

   No module named cElementTree

Both the python-urlgrabber and python-celementtree are installed and at
