[Bug 1680784] Re: Glitches

2022-02-12 Thread oleg
I already moved to arch lol
That was not a bug but hardware feature i assume?

When PC get in sleep videocard had less power so some graphical
athlas/spites/pars in videocard memory got a little "corrupted" so they
had to be reloaded to overvrite corupted/rooted visuals

You can close/ignore this bug, or make optional reload-all-graphical-
resources feature i you think it worth of it

[Bug 1571972] Re: shorewall systemd service not enabled on install

2022-01-28 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
This bug still present in Kubuntu 20.04. Shorewall package version:
5.2.3.4-1

> systemctl is-enabled shorewall.service
disabled

> systemctl status shorewall.service
● shorewall.service - Shorewall IPv4 firewall
 Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/shorewall.service; disabled; vendor
preset: enabled)
 Active: inactive (dead)

Manual enabling fixes the issue:
> sudo systemctl enable shorewall.service
Synchronizing state of shorewall.service with SysV service script with
/lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install.
Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install enable shorewall
Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/basic.target.wants/shorewall.service →

[Bug 1940756] Re: VirtualBox always using mic, breaks all audio playback

2021-10-07 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
The same behavior here, I'm using Kubuntu 20.04.3 as host and guest, VirtualBox
version is 6.1.26.
On Audio page of the settings Audio is turned ON, Audio Out is ON, Audio In is
OFF, so it shouldn't use the microphone according to these settings.
Nevertheless microphone icon pops in KDE System Tray every time when machine
starts.
I've got another VM, Windows 7, with the same Audio In/Out settings, but it
doesn't use the microphone when it runs.
The sole difference I noticed that Kubuntu guest uses "ICH AC97" audio
controller and Windows guest uses "Intel HD Audio" controller. These settings
were done automatically, I didn't change anything on this tab since the
installation.

[Bug 1946192] Re: "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on every boot

2021-10-07 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
One more reasoning: fsck is called DESPITE the settings of tune2fs. By default
"Maximum mount counts" equals -1 which means that fsck shouldn't run at all. If
this parameter is set to some positive value fcsk should run periodically but
not on every start.
Less experienced users may think that they've got real problems with their disk
because of these checks on every boot.

[Bug 1946192] Re: "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on every boot

2021-10-06 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
I'm talking about already installed system, not LiveCD session.

It looks like check of root partition IS run indeed as I can guess from
boot.log.
I'll add it to other reports because apport collector missed it.

[Bug 1946192] acpidump.txt

2021-10-06 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
apport information

** Attachment added: "acpidump.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946192/+attachment/5531092/+files/acpidump.txt

** Description changed:

  I installed Kubuntu 20.04 on Latitude 5591 laptop using flash drive.
  Installation run without any issues but now on every boot I notice a
  message "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on the
  Plymouth screen with Kubuntu logo. It flashes quickly and disappears.
  I've got fast NVMe drive so I cannot say for sure whether it runs any
  checks or not.

  I booted from LiveCD and performed fsck checks of all my partitions:
  fsck.vfat /dev/nvme0n1p1 (EFI partition)
  fsck.vfat /dev/nvme0n1p2 (Dell service partition, not mounted)
  e2fsck -f /dev/nvme0n1p3 (Root partition)
  e2fsck -f /dev/nvme0n1p5 (Home partition)
  These checks showed no problems.

  I changed mount counter to set periodic checks:
  sudo tune2fs -c 29 /dev/nvme0n1p3
  sudo tune2fs -c 30 /dev/nvme0n1p5
  But despite these settings this message still appears on every boot.

[Bug 1946192] Re: "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on every boot

2021-10-06 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected focal

** Description changed:

  I installed Kubuntu 20.04 on Latitude 5591 laptop using flash drive.
  Installation run without any issues but now on every boot I notice a
  message "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on the
  Plymouth screen with Kubuntu logo. It flashes quickly and disappears.
  I've got fast NVMe drive so I cannot say for sure whether it runs any
  checks or not.

  I booted from LiveCD and performed fsck checks of all my partitions:
  fsck.vfat /dev/nvme0n1p1 (EFI partition)
  fsck.vfat /dev/nvme0n1p2 (Dell service partition, not mounted)
  e2fsck -f /dev/nvme0n1p3 (Root partition)
  e2fsck -f /dev/nvme0n1p5 (Home partition)
  These checks showed no problems.

  I changed mount counter to set periodic checks:
  sudo tune2fs -c 29 /dev/nvme0n1p3
  sudo tune2fs -c 30 /dev/nvme0n1p5
  But despite these settings this message still appears on every boot.

[Bug 1946192] [NEW] "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on every boot

2021-10-06 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
Public bug reported:

I installed Kubuntu 20.04 on Latitude 5591 laptop using flash drive.
Installation run without any issues but now on every boot I notice a
message "Press Ctrl+C to cancel all filesystem checks in process" on the
Plymouth screen with Kubuntu logo. It flashes quickly and disappears.
I've got fast NVMe drive so I cannot say for sure whether it runs any
checks or not.

I booted from LiveCD and performed fsck checks of all my partitions:
fsck.vfat /dev/nvme0n1p1 (EFI partition)
fsck.vfat /dev/nvme0n1p2 (Dell service partition, not mounted)
e2fsck -f /dev/nvme0n1p3 (Root partition)
e2fsck -f /dev/nvme0n1p5 (Home partition)
These checks showed no problems.

I changed mount counter to set periodic checks:
sudo tune2fs -c 29 /dev/nvme0n1p3
sudo tune2fs -c 30 /dev/nvme0n1p5
But despite these settings this message still appears on every boot.

[Bug 755342] Re: Samsung Xcover 271 B2710 mass storage does not mount automatically

2021-09-19 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
This bug still exists in Kubuntu 20.04. Samsung Xcover B2710 isn't connected
properly.
Long ago I fixed it on Ubuntu 12.04 by "DisableSwitching=1" and forgot about
it. Now found this bugreport once again and old fix still works.
If my help is needed in debugging of this issue, I'm ready.
P.S. Does this disabled switching affects other USB devices somehow or only
mobile phones?

[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2020-11-02 Thread Oleg "Nightwing" Lomakin
@cica-kutya there is solution - nvidia kms. And fractional scaling work without
any issues(like tearing on intel) for me. I have single gpu setup(no hybrid
graphics).
You can activate it by:
1. Set nvidia_drm module option:
$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-modeset.conf
options nvidia_drm modeset=1
2. Add same option to kernel cmdline:
$ cat /etc/default/grub

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nvidia_drm.modeset=1 quiet splash"

3. Update initrd
$ sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
4. Reboot
5. Check it
$ sudo cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/modeset
Y
6. Activate fraction scaling

Fractional scaling on intel don't work well too(it causes tearing, lags, etc).
And it works good only with wayland.
David, you can try #53 workaround(activate drm modeset for nvidia driver). It
disabled by default, may be this is root of this problem?

[Bug 1871721] Re: Second Monitor on HDMI blank screen/blink screen with Nvidia + Intel & Ubuntu 20.04? (ASUS Laptop)

2020-08-17 Thread Oleg B
I just want to add that I have the same problem on my Asus N552VW. I
have managed to make it work from day 1, so hopefully this can help
someone until the proper bug fix is provided.

I have a laptop and an external monitor plugged via HDMI, everything is
turned off. Simply turn on the laptop and load the OS, input your
login/pass and get into system. Now close the laptop lid, then turn of
the monitor.

This are the only steps I can make an external monitor work with 20.04,
kernel 5.4.

[Bug 1870356] Re: Can't connect to paired bluetooth devices via g-c-c

2020-06-15 Thread Oleg Gorobets
Same issue here, Ubuntu 20.04. External bluetooth speakers stay in
"disconnected" mode in Bluetooth Settings, without a possibility to
connect (slider moves but immediately bounces back)

"sudo service bluetooth status" shows: connect error: Device or resource
busy (16)

Restarting bluetooth service doesn't help.

This option work only with hybrid graphics. If you select "NVIDIA On-Demand"
all will run on intel\amd integrated GPU(but you can run selected app on nvidia
discrete GPU).
Without integrated GPU this workaround don't work.

[Bug 1574617] Re: External monitor keeps going blank

2020-05-30 Thread Oleg Gorobets
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1742602 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1742602

Update 1:
It looks like Dell Inspiron 15 indeed has some hybrid Intel/Radeon graphics but
it was not clear to me at the beginning.

Update 2:
After fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel: 5.4.0-33-generic) the problem
still persists.

While I was on 18.04 I have discovered another error in syslog, which may or
may not be related:
radeon :08:00.0: failed VCE resume (-110). I have disabled VCE by following
this advice
(https://forum.manjaro.org/t/radeon-vce-init-error-110-hybrid-graphics/38845/7),
 the error log disappeared but the problem with blank screen was not fixed.

Any advice on how to investigate it further?

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1742602 ***

I am affected as well. I am running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on Dell Inspiron 15
with external monitor over HDMI. The screen randomly goes blank for
couple of seconds, then returns to normal. It happens consistently.
There is only internal graphics on this laptop (Intel HD Graphics 5500)
so I don't think it is a hybrid graphics problem as it was mentioned
before.

[Bug 1831869] Re: Backport boost_python3 fix for cmake

2019-06-06 Thread Oleg
I've manually applied this patch to FindBoost.cmake but it doesn't solve
issue because cmake doesn't found libraries for python3 component.

The only working component is python-py36:

//Boost python-py36 library (debug)
Boost_PYTHON-PY36_LIBRARY_DEBUG:FILEPATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libboost_python-py36.so

//Boost python-py36 library (release)
Boost_PYTHON-PY36_LIBRARY_RELEASE:FILEPATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libboost_python-py36.so

So I suppose patch should add next line:

set(_Boost_PYTHON_PY36_HEADERS "${_Boost_PYTHON_HEADERS}")

[Bug 1754702] Re: Delay before you can type after switching input source

2019-05-13 Thread Oleg
Hi!

I've made a workaround python script which switches layout itself using
`gsettings` command. Apparently, it helped some people reduce the delay
(including myself), so I'm going to post it here. Though, I don't know
why it works.

[Bug 1813672] Re: 4.15.0-44-generic #47 breaks Lenovo T470s suspend while docked

2019-01-29 Thread Oleg Cherkasov
Some kind of similar issue on ThinkPad X250 20CM004EMN. Switching back
to 4.15.0-43-generic solved the problem.

Booting with 4.15.0-44-generic on Ultra Dock station gives blank screen
on login/display manager. Undocking does not solve the issue so only
SysRq+REISUB or hard reboot help. X250 rejects to fall sleep on closed
lid or Fn+4 combination. Tried on two different Ultra Dock stations
with various monitors, the result is the same.

Booting with 4.15.0-44-generic undocked brings login/display manager as
expected. It is possible to dock after that.

[Bug 1781049] Re: WiFi hard blocked after resuming laptop from suspend

2019-01-20 Thread Oleg Andriyanov
Have exactly the same issue with Acer ex2519 n15w4 with Qualcomm Atheros
QCA9565 wi-fi card in it. Wi-fi worked during system installation (with
secure boot disabled as the original reporter mentioned). Not sure if
computer was suspended or powered off, but once I booted it and wi-fi
just stopped working and rfkill reported that device phy0 is hard
blocked.

The computer runs kernel 4.18.0-13-generic. I am happy to provide any
additional information to solve the issue.

[Bug 1812280] [NEW] Static ID mapping not functional in NFS

As you can see, even though static.so plugin was loaded, ID translation was not
performed.

Looking at this issue with GDB shows that static translation plugin is
skipped in these two lines in libnfsidmap.c:

...
if (plgns[i]->trans->funcname == NULL)
continue;
...

The reason that funcname is null is that pointers to name_to_uid,
name_to_gid, uid_to_name, gid_to_name are explicitly initialized to NULL
in the Ubuntu's version of libnfsidmap/static.c:

...
struct trans_func static_trans = {
.name   = "static",
.init   = NULL,
.name_to_uid= NULL,
.name_to_gid= NULL,
.uid_to_name= NULL,
.gid_to_name= NULL,
.princ_to_ids   = static_gss_princ_to_ids,
.gss_princ_to_grouplist = static_gss_princ_to_grouplist,
};
...

Please note, that in original sources of NFS these callbacks are
correctly initialized like so:

...
struct trans_func static_trans = {
.name   = "static",
.init   = static_init,
.name_to_uid= static_name_to_uid,
.name_to_gid= static_name_to_gid,
.uid_to_name= static_uid_to_name,
.gid_to_name= static_gid_to_name,
.princ_to_ids   = static_gss_princ_to_ids,
.gss_princ_to_grouplist = static_gss_princ_to_grouplist,
};
...

I am not sure why in Ubuntu's package the NFS static ID translation was
disabled, but if it was done deliberately it should've been documented
(maybe here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NFSv4Howto ?).

Side note: nsswitch translation works correctly.

[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location

2019-01-11 Thread Oleg
I don't think it is fair to attribute popularity of this bug to the law of
triviality.
IMO it generates so much heat because it is directly visible to the end user
and also affects everyone, regardless of what snaps you use.

It is nice to hear that there are still plans to fix this though.

[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location

2019-01-11 Thread Oleg
@francescohickle15, this is not "pure aesthetics".

Creating random folder in user's home directly, without user explicitly
requesting it is just bad design. Not giving user any option to
remove/move or even rename this folder is a horrible design choice and
has nothing to do with aesthetics. As many people here mentioned is has
multitude of negative consequences and I'm not sure why Snap developers
keep ignoring this critical issue while hiding behind "it is hard to fix
and we like it this way" argument.

[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location

2018-11-04 Thread Oleg
This is indeed a very serious issue and definitely should not be a
'wishlist'.

I'm not aware of any other application that respects user so little that
it forces you having folder with hard coded name in your home from the
moment installation and forever. It pollutes everything: file manager,
command line, search etc.

If you using GUI file manager it is also extremely easy to remove or
move this folder with accidental mouse drag and only notice it when half
of your apps stop working correctly.

In fact, when I first noticed snap folder I just removed it as I though
it was some cache that wasn't cleared by the snappy...

I understand that it may be quite difficult to fix, but I think this
issue deserves more attention.

[Bug 1131072] Re: Test page is printed on available printer if the printer under test is unavailable

2018-10-03 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
In Ubuntu 14.04.5 this issue seems to be fixed. Now the test page is
sent to the appropriate printer rather than to the default printer. So
this bug can be closed.

2018-08-24 Thread Oleg Krutov
Problem is just in qcow2 backed by physical drives, -- if no backing
file of it is just a file then all is ok. So, is it possible to disable
locking in such cases?

[Bug 1709818] Re: Failed to lock byte 100

2018-08-24 Thread Oleg Krutov
I have just faced that bug after upgrade from ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04.1.

 I create VMs with qcow2 volumes backed by physical raw drives. Now it
is unable to create VM via virt-install because of "unable to lock byte
100" bug. So, since libvirt version in 18.04.1 is already 4.0.0, is
there a regression since 3.6 or what?

 Any working workaround is very appreciated. Can I shut down that
locking? I don't need it at all.

[Bug 1783452] [NEW] Some font glyphs are rendered incorrectly (with additional vertical spacing) in GTK applications

2018-07-24 Thread Oleg
Public bug reported:

After switching from 16.04 to 18.04 I noticed that fonts are now (in
18.04) rendered differently in GTK+ apps.

For example, there is a vertical bar charcter `│`
[U+2502](https://unicode-table.com/en/2502), that is used extensively to create
solid vertical lines using just text characters.
You can see it in console apps such as `mc` or `pstree`.
While it is rendered correctly in Terminal in both 16.04 and 18.04, when
rendered inside GTK apps it has unexpected vertical gap in-between characters
on 18.04 (16.04 renders it correctly).
The issue can be seen in GTK apps such as gVIM, Geany, GEdit, but Qt apps seem
to render it properly.

I have attached a screenshot that clearly demonstrates the difference.
It shows brand new Ubuntu 16.04 on a left side where you can see
vertical line in GEdit is completely solid, as it should be. On a right
side it shows Ubuntu 18.04 where you can see line now has gaps that
should not be there.

I built a small GTK2 test app that reproduces the problem (sources at
https://pastebin.com/WCH1ds4P), and using it I found that the problem
occurs when libfreetype 2.8+ is used. I tested FreeType 2.6, 2.7, 2.7.1
and all of them work fine. While 2.8 and above has this gap.

I am not 100% sure if this is an Ubuntu font configuration issue, or bug
in FreeType, or GTK or some other Ubuntu components, but I hope someone
at least can point me at the right direction.

Please also check my post on AskUbuntu which has additional detail and
screenshots: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1054779/incorrect-font-
glyphs-rendering-in-gtk-applications-in-ubuntu-18-04

[Bug 1730065] [NEW] Hedgewars crashing starting a game on artful

2017-11-04 Thread Oleg Shevchenko
Public bug reported:

After I upgraded to Artful I noticed the Hedgewars game crashing while starting
a new game.
After some debugging I found this happens in the following library:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xb0fd2a75 in ?? () from /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/i965_dri.so

It is from libgl1-mesa-dri package (version 17.2.2-0ubuntu1).

So I decided to roll this package back to previous version. I downloaded
and installed the following packages from Zesty:

- libgl1-mesa-dri_17.0.3-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
- libegl1-mesa_17.0.3-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
- libgbm1_17.0.3-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
- libllvm4.0_4.0-1ubuntu1_i386.deb

And this solved the issue.

Below some technical details. Please let me know if you need something
else.

[Bug 1579748] Re: rtsx_usb module for Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTS5129 Card Reader Controller: mmc errors and read data corruption

2017-08-11 Thread Oleg
returm to kernel driver and change in drivers/mmc/host/rtsx_usb_sdmmc.c
As advised in https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/10/21/318 comment caps:

static void rtsx_usb_init_host(struct rtsx_usb_sdmmc *host)
{
struct mmc_host *mmc = host->mmc;

mmc->f_min = 25;
mmc->f_max = 20800;
mmc->ocr_avail = MMC_VDD_32_33 | MMC_VDD_33_34 | MMC_VDD_165_195;
mmc->caps = MMC_CAP_4_BIT_DATA | MMC_CAP_SD_HIGHSPEED |
//  MMC_CAP_MMC_HIGHSPEED | MMC_CAP_BUS_WIDTH_TEST |
//  MMC_CAP_UHS_SDR12 | MMC_CAP_UHS_SDR25 | MMC_CAP_UHS_SDR50 |
MMC_CAP_NEEDS_POLL;
mmc->caps2 = MMC_CAP2_NO_PRESCAN_POWERUP | MMC_CAP2_FULL_PWR_CYCLE;

mmc->max_current_330 = 400;
mmc->max_current_180 = 800;
mmc->ops = _usb_sdmmc_ops;
mmc->max_segs = 256;
mmc->max_seg_size = 65536;
mmc->max_blk_size = 512;
mmc->max_blk_count = 65535;
mmc->max_req_size = 524288;

host->power_mode = MMC_POWER_OFF;
}

reload new module and block rts5139

# lsmod | grep rts
rtsx_usb_sdmmc 28672  0
rtsx_usb_ms20480  0
memstick   16384  1 rtsx_usb_ms
rtsx_usb   20480  2 rtsx_usb_sdmmc,rtsx_usb_ms

It does not work anyway, as before the changes:

[10273.125682] mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising SD card

If you have any ideas I can check them on my kernel

[Bug 1705034] [NEW] Active application's button isn't highlighted on the panel

2017-07-18 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
Public bug reported:

When using Radiance theme in Gnome Flashback session in 16.04 LTS, active
application's button is not highlighted on the panel. In Ambiance theme active
application's button is highlighted by the darker color. Comparison of the
gnome-panel.css in /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-3.0/apps and
/usr/share/themes/Radiance/gtk-3.0/apps showed the absence of some code in
Radiance theme.
Adding the fragment of code from Ambiance gnome-panel.css to Radiance
respective file fixes the issue (possibly some adjustment of values is needed,
as this code is related to dark Ambiance theme, rather than light Radiance
theme).
Here's the mentioned code fragment:

PanelApplet .button:checked {
background-image: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom,
 from (shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.95)),
 to (shade (@dark_bg_color, 1.1)));
}

PanelApplet .button:checked:prelight {
background-image: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom,
 from (shade (@dark_bg_color, 1.15)),
 to (shade (@dark_bg_color, 1.3)));
}

PanelApplet .button:checked:prelight:active {
border-image: none;
background-image: -gtk-gradient (linear, left top, left bottom,
 from (shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.75)),
 to (shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.9)));
border-color: shade (@dark_bg_color, 0.8);
}
