[Bug 463258] Re: Network manager doesnt reconnect automatically after a power cycle to Wireless router
@elim elim probably your problem is not with ubuntu but with the router itself. I have seen some lessner know brands to behave strange. I once had a belkin, its dhcp will choke after sometime its on, and wont give out a address to any client. The only solutions used to be to powercycle the rotuer. well for my ubuntu problem "of not connecting after getting disconnected due any circumstances" i now run a cron script evey 10mins that checks for internet connectivity and if its not available restarts network- manager. So its not a problem for me anymore. -- Network manager doesnt reconnect automatically after a power cycle to Wireless router https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463258 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 463258] [NEW] Network manager doesnt reconnect automatically after a power cycle to Wireless router
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager Hi I had the same problem with network-manager in 9.04 also. Right now I am using fully updated (yesterday updated) 9.10 rc. In 9.04 I was able to solve this problem by writing a small script that regularly checks for internet connectivity and restarts network manager if connection is missing. Restarting network manager always worked with whatever wireless network I have configured as autoconnect. Now this techniqure no longer works with 9.10, atleast not consistantly. The biggest problem that I see with karmic is "if I am disconnected due to some reason, and I select the desired network from the drop down menu, it does nothing. It just shows a notification that the " is disconnected". In jaunty I was always able to connect manually again to the same network. But not with karmic. I am not sure whether its some configuration issue due to an upgrade from jaunty or a bug with karmic itself. As I have not yet tried a fresh installation. I am hoping if somebody else has the same problem, I dont need to reinstall. But if you think that the problem is specific to my system I am open to install a fresh copy of Karmic or wipeout my home directory so that it creates new configuration for everything. Please Let me know what kind of info is required in case no one else is affected by it. Re: [Bug 330824] Re: Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28
Hi There is a better solution as suggested before in the discussion. Download 2.6.30 from here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/. I never had a problem after installing mainline. I wont recommend it if you are using some proprietary drivers from Ubuntu. They may not be supported. My "/" is not on ext4 though but all other partitons which I used for storage are on ext4 now and I was having problem with stock jaunty kernel. [Bug 380025] Re: window border missing and every window gets maximized no matter how small its supposed to be
I am coverting this bug to a question because it not really a bug. My bad. I just now saw that I have a application named "maximus" in startup applications and its the cause of all the problems that I was facing. Probably this got installed when I installed ubuntu-netbook* as a dependency and was not removed when I removed ubuntu-netbook*. Sorry for few extra mails going to a lot of people. I should pay more attention when using apt-get rather than blindly saying "yes". [Bug 380025] [NEW] window border missing and every window gets maximized no matter how small its supposed to be
Public bug reported: Hi I had installed netbook-remix* using apt-get install on my desktop. It didnt work out very well with my existing gnome setup so I removed it. But now I dont get border around any of the gnome applications. Moreover every window gets maximized no matter how small it is supposed to be. Even the small dialogs comes maximized. Now I think it would have been a good idea to take backup of gconf before installing remix. I tried to look at keys in the remix package but with no success they all seem to be reverted to normal values unless I missed something. Please help me out its really irritating Cheers !!!
